Nice atmosphere, located in a nice hotel.
We had 8 course menu with wine pairing. Some dishes were excellent, some so-so but it’s a personal preference. Wines were really great, especially white wines and dessert wine. Nice touch with an extra dessert for a birthday occasion.
Service was good, but got a bit sloppy towards the end of dinner, when it got busier. Took a long time to get the bill, staff seemed busy with serving tables and didn’t return the bill for 15 minutes after we asked.
Some staff members spoke with strong local accents and it was difficult to understand food presentations. No female servers...I thought that was strange and hopefully not the restaurant policy.
Outdated decor - more like a ‘80 disco lighting ! Too many interrupting Waiters with bread and water and “how is it” and “my colleague will take your order” - I will let you know if I need something right ! - mini mini minimalistic amount of food - prepare yourself for another meal and we took the 3 courses. Would I go back ? Probably not
Quite simply, the most delicious meal I've ever tasted!
Our third visit and once again enjoyable with very good seats looking out into the restaurant itself. It is very pricey which is why we only visit once a year.
Simply wonderful experience and we were lucky Marcus was there who was both incredibly friendly and hospitable
Great food, great service and decent value. You can on occasion go to Michelin starred restaurants and walk away thinking you could do better. This definitely wasn’t the case here.
Good food shame about the service.
We were a party of 3 all opting for the 8 course tasting option with paired wines. Food was good and certain dishes were a delight.
Service felt rushed and mistakes were made. I personally felt disappointed as I made the arrangements and booked Marcus. When you spend £800 for 3 people you expect better. Waiters were non attentive we had a mix of 3 or 4. They spoke quickly and quietly and when we asked the any questions they almost looked annoyed as if they needed to be somewhere else. We won't be returning or recommending.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sat Bains in Nottingham and the difference in the overall experience is vast for both food and service.
Perfection, food was delicious, service discreetly attentive, ambience at lunch time was calm and elegant! I truly cannot fault it at all and thoroughly recommend it for a special occasion. Will be back soon.
We had an amazing day from start to finish, which was complemented by the very friendly and professional staff. We opted for the three course set menu, accompanied by three great wines provided by the informative sommelier. The stand out dishes were the scallops and duck, which were equally delicious and contributed to a lovely meal. Special thanks to Shauna and Mark for looking after us, we will certainly be coming back for more. The "Marcus Everyday Book" was the icing on the cake.
Great food × friendly staff = best dinner in London!! Try their duck - confidently recommend it:)
Staff were attentive but somewhat aloof - which for such an upmarket restaurant is probably expected
Lovely time was had by myself and my friend
Excellent service 🙏🏻 fine food & wine !! recommended 👍
Excellent food, great service from reservation to dinner. This would have been a 5 star dinner if not for a very poor wine that gave the whole evening a bit of a dent though. The 2015 Gaja Barbaresco was just awful - pale, very acidic, just way too young to have as one of the sommelier “selections”. Had to pour it away
For the price and the accolades, the food did not meet our expectations, especially when considering the alternatives at this price range.
The environment was nice, the service was amazing and the servers very likeable and genuine.
Overall it was a very pleasant evening
Extremely disappointed by the whole experience. The service was appalling. The sommelier was aloof, disinterested and did a poor job of explaining the wines. He looked distressed and even had beads of sweat pouring down his face which is not what I would expect from such a restaurant. Other waiters could barely remember what they were serving and did a poor job of making the experience an exciting one. The bill came to £750.00 for three of us which one can accept if all aspects of the dining experience is outstanding. This was not, in any way. I will not be going back.
We celebrate birthday and had an oustanding dinner, we took the chef menu and everything was just fantastic the service the food and the wine recommended by the somelier really enjoyed
Remains an elegant option for lunch in central London. Great wine list but a bit overpriced in comparison to Core or Murano.
The menu however is suitability varied with thoughtful and delicious British product. We will return for the great food and wonderful service.
Amazing staff and service , food was outstanding couldn’t fault anything definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful time at Marcus. The food, service and ambience was impeccable as expected at a Michelin Starred restaurant. Everything was presented and described well. Didn't feel rushed at Marcus and we were given plenty of time to enjoy our food.
Food, service, atmosphere were perfect to the smallest detail.
Loved the whole experience from start to finish! Service was spotless and the food was impeccable! I will definitely go back soon!
The food was good, some interesting courses. Final dessert course was the best dish of the evening.
However the wine pairing was average. Was slightly disappointed that there was no dessert wine or wine paired for the end of the meal.
London restaurant festival menu was incredible value. Service impeccable and the food itself absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend!
Good food particularly the creative desserts were excellent and we appreciate the free additional dessert . The service excellent! However the old deco and the light needs to be refreshed.
Food choices on Set Menu limited, but my daughter and I delighted with the food. Other, fussier daughter, would have liked more choice as she is vegetarian.
All other aspcts of the night were lovely.
My second visit here and will be returning.
Overall very good, starter and desserts we ordered are all good. Turbot main course very nice too, except A piece of label stick found on the plum for the duck dish
We had a lovely evening at Marcus to celebrate a special birthday with a friend. It was the most expensive taster menu we have had in London (we went for 8 courses) but the food was amazing. The wine pairing was disappointing however and didn't complement the food as much as other pairings have done so in the past at other restaurants. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice and we were able to chat all evening. The staff were very attentive, especially when we were drinking bottled water, less so when we changed to tap water (we ended up pouring our own by the end of the evening). We were treated to a small piece of cake and candle to acknowledge our friend's birthday which was thoughtful. Would totally recommend Marcus to anyone wanting a special meal in London.
P.S Look out for the cobwebs in the corner of the room behind the booth!
Quite a special interior! Has the feel of an old British drawing room, with its dark wooden interior, with some very interesting paintings hanging on the walls. All very diverse. I'm sure there's a story to them and why they're there. Questions for next time! I took enough of a friendly Italian waiter's time asking about the names of all 14 cheese available that day. Grazi!
The atmosphere is very chatty and vibrant. There's something cosy about the place, at least I felt that way. Maybe it's the wooden interior, and the soft sofa seats you can lounge on.
The food was all very, very good. The execution of cooking, I thought, was very good. Nothing amiss there. They do some interesting combinations of the flavours, none of which clashed, or stuck out in a bad way, but at the same time, I can't help a feel a bit like there was a slight lack of sparkle there. I felt the creative flavours were a tad muted. Not that that's bad, not everything needs to be wasabi this, cacao that, kimchi those. I suppose their interpretation is just a little bit more gentle, and that's their thing, and that's cool.
The very open and friendly waiter Ben recommended the off-menu pear tarte tatin for dessert, and I went for it. Best decision I made that day. My favourite tarte tatin, albeit pear not apple, I've had in London, so far.
Catch of the day: I use my fork on the right hand. After the first course, the staff noticed this and set the cutlery accordingly thereafter.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. A definite must for memorable lunch date.
The staff was extremely nice and attentive. A great cheese and wine selection. The food was very good, but not worth the price tag, for the $ you could eat so much better elsewhere.
Great for power lunches or dinners.
excellent meal Marcus your roasted potatoes with truffle were to die for.
Location is a little tucked away but once we found it, the experience was awesome. We chose the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Service was attentive but not intrusive - wish I remembered our main server’s name as he was excellent. Each course was so good that I don’t think I can pick a favourite. Visit was completed with a kitchen tour and a visit to the private dining room. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MARCUS!
We had an enjoyable meal at Marcus. However it wasn't quite as slick or mind blowing as expected. I couldn't fault the cooking and nothing was disappointing, there was just no wow moments apart from the side order of potatoes! We had a very nice evening but would I return? Probably not.
Attentive staff but the £55 Five Course Menu was disappointing. The first two courses were tiny, and added together were less than the size of an amuse bouche in most restaurants. When we booked the sample menu looked satisfactory, and when we checked prior to our visit the menu had changed but still contained a fish and meat course. When we dined the menu had changed again and the fish course was now a small amount of fish mousse and the meat course was also more of a tidbit that a main course. The dessert was the largest of the five courses and was good but very sweet. Overall very poor value.
Stunning, once in a lifetime, definitely doesn’t disappoint. We went for a birthday treat and was such a memorable occasion. Would love to go back!
The OpenTable offer for 5 courses for £55 at Marcus allowed us to venture into fine dining, and I'm so glad we did! Fantastic food that just exudes class on the plate and in the mouth. Simply a must. Exquisite service that adds to the drama and experience of dining at Marcus. Attentive, professional but relaxed and welcoming. Every detail was considered, even a sumptuous "Happy Birthday" slice of a divine custard tart for my Mum.
Excellent food. Staff slightly impersonal as though they were going through the motions. Having been on a few different occasions we were expecting the high standards we had previously experienced however, were a little disappointed. Overall still superb food but service needs a polish.
We went for our anniversary and had the lunch menu which was a good deal. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and seated at our table immediately. The food was excellent, favourites were the lobster bisque and slow cooked egg. The lamb was well cooked and melted in the mouth.
Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for special occasions.
