We booked the 5 Course Tasting Menu at Marucs to celebrate a birthday and an anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel comfortable by the most down to earth and friendly staff. The 5 courses were varied, seasonal and the 36 hour beef flank was a dish that none of us will forget. It was all delicious and felt far more than 5 courses with the little additions brought out by the staff and the optional cheese course which was divine. The courses were timed to perfection and the staff made our special occasion feel even more special with a private tour of the 2 Michelin star kitchen. We left feeling full, happy with all of it, and eager to come back. For us, it wasn't just a meal, it was a brilliant day out.

Second time at Marcus (last time about 2 years ago). Ordered the 5 course lunch menu and added one extra starter. Overall, it was brilliant. I like dining out a lot, and must admit this was one of the better ones I have been to lately.

The 5 course lunch menu for about £50 is so worth it and very value for money - very interesting dishes and a joy to try all the different things. If on a budget, you just need to be careful on the wines, that is where it can get expensive if not careful.

Waiters and service was friendly also excellent.

So overall, I strongly recommend Marcus for sure.

I have dined at Marcus on a few occasions and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates good food and excellent service. Quite pricey if you add on wine but the lunch menu is good value. No pressure to hurry so relaxing a truly great experience. Visit the kitchen if you get the opportunity it is amazing !!

We went at lunchtime to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, and from the start we were made to feel special. The food was perfect. We had the 55 pound lunch menu, and could not have had better cooked and prepared food. We even got a special "happy anniversary" dessert. The staff were knowledgeable about each dish and the drinks on offer and were attentive to the perfect level. Towards the end of the meal we had a quick tour of the kitchen and met Mark, the Head Chef. Just be aware that the drinks are very expensive, but you don't come to this type of restaurant and then skimp!

We had the eight course summer tasting menu with matched wines which was outstanding. Favourite summer dish was the pea with squid ink pasta! The short beef rib was also excellent. We didn’t request the cheese course but it included some wonderful cheeses. I think the cheese should be instead of the two lovely desserts as this was too much! The cheese course is also extra which we were not made aware of beforehand. The staff were lovely and very attentive and knowledgable. At the expensive end of dining out but worth it for a special occasion and a lovely setting. Also included a visit to the kitchen which was a nice touch. Thank you!

Having been to several Michelin star restaurants this one will go near to the bottom of the list. Whilst the setting of the restaurant was very nice the service and food did let it down. The main reason was that there was no flow between courses. Some courses we had to wait over twenty minutes before we got our dish. The food was good but there was not one dish that stood out for me or my husband. The waiters also forgot to serve us the petit fours. Overall quite disappointing.

The taste of the food was not bad, however not significant.
The dish up was not elegant; very poor and too simple.
Only common shape white dishes were used.
It is very different from reputed restaurants with similar price in Paris.

Unfortunately, the knowledge of the staffs was also poor.
I ordered a glass of liqueur, however it was poured in the glass for whisky on the rocks, not in liqueur glass.

It was very surprising!

I cannot recommend this restaurant for other people.

What a treat! I booked lunch at Marcus for myself and a friend.
We arrived early for our booking but the restaurant was not overly busy and we were able to be seated straight away.
We opted for the five course set lunch menu, the Sommelier's choice of wine plus the extra cheese and port course.
Our waiter and sommelier were both excellent and very attentive and informative throughout our lunch.
We were invited to see the kitchen which was a fantastic experience and we got to see Masterchef winner Craig Johnston in action.
We had booked a later table for lunch (2pm) and I was concerned we may be rushed so the chefs could finish service but I need not have worried. Timing between courses was perfect and although when I booked I was advised to allow 2 hours we were actually there for for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
The food and wine were all excellent as you would expect from this establishment and good value for money.
I will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend this restaurant.
If you appreciate culinary excellence along with outstanding professional waiter service, then you will love Marcus at the Berkeley.
It's a fantastic experience!

Marcus - very much a disappointment. This was a birthday visit for my mother and my first visit to a three Michelin star restaurant. It very much disappointed. The staff were very nice, the ambiance great but the food was just nice. For a three Michelin star restaurant I expected to be wowed with every morsel. The menu selection was a bit odd - 2 out of the 5 dishes were beef. But it was the actual delivery of these that was just good, not great and certainly not amazing - which is what you expect when you're paying so much. The starter of a prawn and scallop was the only dish that wowed - the rest I felt like they would fitted in at a nice bistro. (indeed the bistro I went to earlier in the week was actually nicer). I certainly won't return and cannot recommend it.

We have eaten at his other restaurants, The Gilbert Scott and Tredwells, so had an idea of what to expect from Marcus, but it surpassed even our (high) expectations. On the high points, the food is exceptional, really difficult to fault on any level, well balanced and we met the chef, Mark, who came out to deliver an "extra" dish to us. My wife and I both had a 5 course tasting menu, albeit two different versions, which was handled without a problem.

The staff were also impeccable, nicely judged balance of attentive, without being overly attentive and extremely personable - for a Saturday lunch it was busy, with a wedding party in a private room and the restaurant near full - no drop off in service at all despite the large party. We also liked the room itself, quite club like in décor, perhaps as is more common with "hotel" restaurants.

We had only one gripe. We both had the matching wines, £55 for me and £75 for my wife. 5 different and excellent wines that were well chosen and very unusual - that's often the benefit of these options, getting wines one would never usually pick on a list (Hungary and Slovakia for example). This said, the glasses were tiny to the point of being mean. We recently did something similar at Le Manoir, also Benares and in both, one got a "normal" glass. I doubt this was the decision of the Sommelier, who really knew her wines, probably the Finance department in an attempt to squeeze extra margin out of wine that was probably already marked up by 300%+.

We did pass comment and I would say the glasses did improve but I would suggest to any other diner, if you chose this route and get a tiny glass first time, make mention of it as it is clearly a policy of the restaurant.

By my quick maths, I think they were looking to get 10 glasses at least from a bottle, which makes it a very expensive option.

The food was phenomenal and the staff were perfectly attentive and knowledgeable. A wonderful experience. As it was quiet we were offered a tour of the kitchen which was facinating. It was our first time in a Michelin restaurant for my husbands 40th and the staff made us feel so comfortable and went out of their way to make it a truly special day.

This being our first trip to Marcus my expectations where high, I was not disappointed. From the complimentary fragua ice cream opener through our delicious five course set lunch menu with a very good and reasonable bottle of white and ending on a complimentary anniversary panacotta, this was an all round excellent experience. Friendly and efficient staff, relaxing ambiance and a good general feel I will certainly be back to Marcus!

We’ve experienced a number of Michelin tasting menus and this is without doubt the best. Every dish delivered aesthetically and the flavour combinations just kept building throughout the menu.
Service was superb, all staff being helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Kitchen tour was a nice touch too.
Quite expensive but then it is in Knightsbridge!

I had the 5 course vegetarian course.

This was an all-out fantastic experience, well-rounded, great staff that made me feel welcome even I was alone in the restaurant at that lunch time. The staff was attentive, but unobtrusive.

The food was down-to-earth elegance, delicious, with care in every detail - and something unique and special in those.

They also were switched on for when I requested a little change to the menu, and rather than just accommodating, I got the feeling they proactively thought about what this meant I want from the menu.

Absolutely recommend it.

It took 90min, and I'd say next to the Roman baths, the best time I spent in Bath.

We had the eight course taster menu at lunchtime - the scallop, lobster and lamb were excellent - the pea pasta course was ok but too much 'pea' and not enough variation of taste. The service was good but not outstanding as in other michelin restaurants, although the individual staff were very pleasant and friendly. The pink champagne was ok but quite expensive (as were the soft drinks). I did enjoy myself but it does not quite have the finesse of other fine dining restaurants around the country. It is in the Berkeley Hotel and as I do not live in London I had to search for it - quite difficult as no name on the hotel (or restaurant) to identify it from the street.

From the moment we arrived to the time we departed we were made to feel welcome and special. Excellent service, nothing over the top but a fabulous desire to look after their customers. The food was, quite simply, amazing! We had the 5 course taster lunch menu with one extra cheese course between the two of us (no problem!) and a gorgeous bottle of red wine recommended to us based on our original choice, it was delicious as promised. Every morsel of food was delicious and the presentation incredible. (it is meant to be eaten in small bites and slowly so that you can taste every flavour!) anyone who thinks/eats differently shouldn’t bother, it does not deserve a single bad review! Thanks also for the surprise visit into the kitchen, great to have a quick look around. Marcus and his whole team should be congratulated on a well thought out way of spoiling their customers from beginning to end and we will definitely be returning sometime. Thoroughly recommended!
