London restaurant festival menu was incredible value. Service impeccable and the food itself absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend!
Good food particularly the creative desserts were excellent and we appreciate the free additional dessert . The service excellent! However the old deco and the light needs to be refreshed.
Food choices on Set Menu limited, but my daughter and I delighted with the food. Other, fussier daughter, would have liked more choice as she is vegetarian.
All other aspcts of the night were lovely.
My second visit here and will be returning.
Overall very good, starter and desserts we ordered are all good. Turbot main course very nice too, except A piece of label stick found on the plum for the duck dish
We had a lovely evening at Marcus to celebrate a special birthday with a friend. It was the most expensive taster menu we have had in London (we went for 8 courses) but the food was amazing. The wine pairing was disappointing however and didn't complement the food as much as other pairings have done so in the past at other restaurants. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice and we were able to chat all evening. The staff were very attentive, especially when we were drinking bottled water, less so when we changed to tap water (we ended up pouring our own by the end of the evening). We were treated to a small piece of cake and candle to acknowledge our friend's birthday which was thoughtful. Would totally recommend Marcus to anyone wanting a special meal in London.
P.S Look out for the cobwebs in the corner of the room behind the booth!
Quite a special interior! Has the feel of an old British drawing room, with its dark wooden interior, with some very interesting paintings hanging on the walls. All very diverse. I'm sure there's a story to them and why they're there. Questions for next time! I took enough of a friendly Italian waiter's time asking about the names of all 14 cheese available that day. Grazi!
The atmosphere is very chatty and vibrant. There's something cosy about the place, at least I felt that way. Maybe it's the wooden interior, and the soft sofa seats you can lounge on.
The food was all very, very good. The execution of cooking, I thought, was very good. Nothing amiss there. They do some interesting combinations of the flavours, none of which clashed, or stuck out in a bad way, but at the same time, I can't help a feel a bit like there was a slight lack of sparkle there. I felt the creative flavours were a tad muted. Not that that's bad, not everything needs to be wasabi this, cacao that, kimchi those. I suppose their interpretation is just a little bit more gentle, and that's their thing, and that's cool.
The very open and friendly waiter Ben recommended the off-menu pear tarte tatin for dessert, and I went for it. Best decision I made that day. My favourite tarte tatin, albeit pear not apple, I've had in London, so far.
Catch of the day: I use my fork on the right hand. After the first course, the staff noticed this and set the cutlery accordingly thereafter.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. A definite must for memorable lunch date.
The staff was extremely nice and attentive. A great cheese and wine selection. The food was very good, but not worth the price tag, for the $ you could eat so much better elsewhere.
Great for power lunches or dinners.
excellent meal Marcus your roasted potatoes with truffle were to die for.
Location is a little tucked away but once we found it, the experience was awesome. We chose the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Service was attentive but not intrusive - wish I remembered our main server’s name as he was excellent. Each course was so good that I don’t think I can pick a favourite. Visit was completed with a kitchen tour and a visit to the private dining room. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MARCUS!
We had an enjoyable meal at Marcus. However it wasn't quite as slick or mind blowing as expected. I couldn't fault the cooking and nothing was disappointing, there was just no wow moments apart from the side order of potatoes! We had a very nice evening but would I return? Probably not.
Stunning, once in a lifetime, definitely doesn’t disappoint. We went for a birthday treat and was such a memorable occasion. Would love to go back!
The OpenTable offer for 5 courses for £55 at Marcus allowed us to venture into fine dining, and I'm so glad we did! Fantastic food that just exudes class on the plate and in the mouth. Simply a must. Exquisite service that adds to the drama and experience of dining at Marcus. Attentive, professional but relaxed and welcoming. Every detail was considered, even a sumptuous "Happy Birthday" slice of a divine custard tart for my Mum.
Excellent food. Staff slightly impersonal as though they were going through the motions. Having been on a few different occasions we were expecting the high standards we had previously experienced however, were a little disappointed. Overall still superb food but service needs a polish.
We went for our anniversary and had the lunch menu which was a good deal. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and seated at our table immediately. The food was excellent, favourites were the lobster bisque and slow cooked egg. The lamb was well cooked and melted in the mouth.
Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for special occasions.
food was fantastic, menu is great value, single dishes are overpriced, even for 1 Michelin star, service was good.
We had the tasting menu and matched wines. The service was excellent, particularly from the Bergamese waiter, and every effort was made to accommodate a vegetarian and a couple of allergies. If we have one complaint, the duck course was disappointing but we would definitely go back.
It was ok, did 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Wine pairing very good, first two courses good but tailed off with meat Course 3.
Fantastic, we had the 5 course set lunch menu and it was delicious. The shellfish bisque was outstanding, the lamb cooked to perfection and our waiter and sommelier were friendly, fun and informative. There was no rush and we enjoyed a very long leisurely lunch. We toured the kitchen and spoke at length with the chefs who also were friendly and fun. Thank you Team Marcus you spoilt us
more than one star
Was good over all but still hungry after meal !
We went for the standard tasting menu which was very good. Not only the high food quality but also the surprises come with each dish in terms of presentation, the layering of savoury gave stimulations to your taste buds. We very much enjoyed our dinner.
Fantastic food, service and ambiance. Top notch. Food is great value for Lunch
Marcus is everything you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The food, ambience and service was sublime. What more can I say? Absolutely nothing!
An outstanding lunch menu for a special occasion. Excellent staff; both attentive and informative.
I was very excited to go to this restaurant for my 30th Birthday. I am a big fan of Marcus Wearing and love his other restaurants.
Unfortunately the food was very odd and not that tasty. We all left our dessert and no one asked us if there was a problem or if we enjoyed it.
The worse part is my friend pulled a big black hair out of her mouth that was stuck in the middle of the bread, when we told the waiter he said ‘oh dear’ took it all away and didn’t apologise and didn’t replace the whole basket of bread he took away.
I was a little disappointed by this and there was no mention of taking money off which is one thing but an apology and replacement should of been the minimum.
I will continue to go to Marcus’s other restaurants but wouldn’t go back here.
Unfortunately I think here they are trying to visually impress so much that they forget about flavours and that food should ultimately be delicious first and visual beauty should come second.
Everything was really good. The only problem was the wine was a bit expensive and I was with a couple of younger ladies that couldn't really afford the prices. It was a great experience though, so it is not a negative feedback, just my personal experience.
Excellent from start to finish. This is now firmly my most favourite restaurant in London.
We had the 5 course vegetarian menu which looked superb on paper but turned out to be even better as each course arrived elegantly plated and visually faultless. The flavours were amazing the staff unreservedly helpful I can really go on and on... Marcus has created a masterpiece.
The food is very well executed and the service is excellent. However, the prices are insane. We paid over £400 for two for 3 course dinner. Wine list was particularly overpriced - not many bottles for under £100 implying at least 3-4x mark up. With so much competition in London, you can get same quality of food for much less.
We won't be going back to Marcus.
Excellent all round
First of all I cannot fault the staff or the quality of food. We had previously had lunch at Marcus and I realised - fairly quickly - that the 'ambience' is very different in the evening. A group of young women celebrating a birthday and later on a large group of business people (the majority of whom were male) and presumably on expenses.... We were next to a couple who seemed to have no regard for anyone else and whose mobile phones played a fairly prominent part in proceedings. This culminated in the man taking two calls and, buoyed by a fair bit of alcohol, he obviously thought it was fine to shriek into the phone whilst sitting at the table. Not!!!!! Marcus cannot be held responsible for the inconsiderate behaviour of the customers but suffice to say I will not be having dinner there again.
Amazing! Everything about this place is very special. Every detail is perfectly thought out. The friendly service was impeccable, the food, wine and cookery at the very highest level. This kind of experience does not come cheap but for those without a budget, a generous expense account or a special occasion it is absolutely worth it. I took my kids for a special occasion and they will be talking about it for a very long time.
Outstanding as always. Marcus is my number one stop for food elevated to perfection. I know when I bring my guests to Marcus we are guaranteed a beautiful dinner and a wonderful experience. I would like to give a massive thanks to Marcus and his incredible team! The attention to detail is awe-inspiring.
Fabulous food and service. Each of the five courses were delicious and superbly presented. There were also delicious little extras and an impressive bread plate. Service was impeccable.
Amazingly presented food and excellent service. I will definitely come again.
Great service throughout. Waiting staff were very knowledgeable and very professional. Atmosphere was great and the food was divine.
Fantastic restaurant. I went to this restaurant a few years ago an forgotten how good it is. Went there with my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday and they added some nice touches which made it a special night for us both. The fillet steak was out of this world! The service was excellent and the person who served us was great and had a sense of humour which is not often the case in top restaurants as sometimes they can be almost too professional and as a result comes across as being wooden.
This restaurant ticks all boxes, already booking to go back with colleague on the chefs table. Highly recommend this place.
Drinks was a little pricy though, a mocktail was £19.50+service charge.
The food, particularly the cod fish course, was excellent - I would happily have that as a main course in a conventional three course meal.
