My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal before catching a BSO Pops show at the Meyerhoff. I had a fresh and delightful pear and gargonzola cheese salad while my husband tried the Maryland crab soup, which was rich and almost sumptuous, so much more than your average crab soup which usually has a thinner consistency. I then had the lightly browned, pan fried scallops with asparagus and risotto which I loved while my husband had trout almondine, asparagus and risotto well. The food was so so good and the service was excellent. We will certainly be back for more next time we're in the city!

We had a wonderful dinner! The food was excellent, the service was friendly and the waiter asked if we were going to the theater to make sure we were served promptly.

Recently we enjoyed lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Our hanger steak salads was really tasty, the meat was cooked to order and the price was reasonable. The service was attentive without being pushy. The only thing negative was the number of flies around our table (we were seated near the front window). Otherwise, we will definitely return.

I love this restaurant. I think it is very underrated. The food quality is excellent, there's a good bit of diversity on the menu, meals are prepared well and it is a very good value. Desserts are really excellent. I have no criticism of the restaurant.

We dined at Marie Louise Bistro prior to attending a performance at Center Stage. We had mussles in red wine sauce and pate to start, then the special scallops over rissotto, and the steak salad for entrees. Everything was wonderful! Their bread is outstanding! Our only regret is that we didn't have time to stay for dessert!

Food was decent. The atmosphere could use a little boost. Considering it is a French restaurant, one would think there would be French music playing. Our server Ronny, was the only server in the place. Despite being the only server, he did a good job taking our order, checking in on us and providing the check efficiently. I feel there should have been one other server to help Ronnie out.

We have always enjoyed dining at Marie Louise Bistro, but last night was SPECIAL. Why? The Bistro now is fortunate to have a new chef, Justin, whose cuisine is equal to that of any five-star restaurant. Our dinner was superb, and our server, Alex, was professional and caring. The desserts were also divine. I am not a dessert eater, but I could not resist after viewing the pastry case. Do not miss this Baltimore dining experience!

We had a delightful early dinner at Marie Louise Bistro. I had a perfectly prepared filet mignon and my husband had bouillabaisse. Unfortunately, the fish used in the soup was dry, although everything else was terrific. Our service could not have been better.

The Restaurant-Week menu was as good as any other time I've eaten there. Always, every plate is cooked or prepared to perfection. This time we had the trout and the duck, preceded by a pear and arugula salad and the foie gras, followed by tiramisu. All were very good to superb. Decent house pinot noir, too. And, as always, no who the bartender, one of the best gin martinis in town. If only the owner would improve the lighting (especially downstairs) with fewer or softer overhead lights and the acoustics—tablecloths would help; so would some area rugs. Then the ambiance would approach the quality of the food and the service.

We had an excellent dinner somewhat early Sunday evening. The service was excellent, bistro style (not the extreme fine dining of Baltimore's Charleston), attentive - not intrusive. The food was superb - on par with the quality we enjoyed when living in Paris. The value was also superb - helped by the wonderful restaurant week menu.

One of our favorite restaurants. The food is consistently very good to excellent, and the prices are reasonable. We sat outdoors due to the beautiful weather (and we had our dog), but the two-top was pretty small to the point that you had to be careful about knocking dishes/glasses/etc. off the table. The waitperson was very nice - friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The only minor demerit I give the restaurant is there are a limited number of entrees that are truly excellent, and once you know what they are (which of course takes a few visits), you're good to go. Not that there's anything bad on the menu, but some entrees are a notch below the top standard of our "go to" entrees. My better half had the Artichoke chicken (one of our top favorites), and I had the Hangar Steak (flavorful, cooked perfectly) with a side of the excellent Pommes Frites. And the deserts (and French Coffee) are to die for.

We enjoyed the clams in white wine sauce very much, as well as the steak entree and the trout almondine. They seemed a bit understaffed for lunch, so our meal took longer than we'd hoped and we felt a little ignored at certain points. We weren't in a huge hurry, so it was fine in the end. Also, it's very dark in the restaurant for lunch, even if you're seated by a window - my older companion had trouble reading the menu.

I was impressed by what I had seen online and in reviews about this sweet bistro, conveniently located on Charles Street, close to various venues, including the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, where my son and I were headed to see a Seinfeld show. Marie Louise Bistro was the restaurant we chose for our pre-show dinner.

The place is cute and well appointed, very comfortable for a casual dinner. The prices are reasonable, and I was surprised at how good the Tempranillo was for $10 a glass, although the pours could be larger. But the food left much to offer: my son said his pistachio-crusted salmon was good although I didn't taste it, but the presentation was average at best. Unfortunately, I opted for the rack of lamb and couldn't have been more disappointed. The presentation was just okay, but more important, the flavor of the lamb was less than okay. The meat was cooked medium-rare as ordered, but it was seasoned insufficiently and tasted gamey, maybe even a bit past fresh. It wasn't good. I didn't send it back, but I didn't eat it either; every time I took a bite, I wondered why I was paying $28 or whatever it was for something so unpalatable. The lamb came with asparagus, just past brilliant green but okay, and mashed potatoes that were fine but unimpressive. Further, the dinner was not hot -- nothing on the plate was hot, but, again, I didn't send the foo back because we had a time constraint. I think this place has great potential, but I was underwhelmed by the food, and with so many options in the immediate area -- Brewer's Art, City Cafe, The Grub Factory, Sotto Sopra and many more -- I won't go back.

Dining at Marie Louise Bristro was beyond fabulous! I could not have asked for a better experience. We came here for a bite to eat before going to Baltimore Center Stage and parked in the lot to the side of the restaurant which had plenty of parking spaces for a reasonable charge. We then walked two blocks to the theatre. The service was top notch and the food was scrumptious! So nice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Full disclosure: Marie is a friend and I've been going to her bistro for a long time.

That said, the menu offers good bistro fare with a slight North African twist. The service is far better than in a real French bistro. And it won't break the bank.

As always, the service was impeccable and friendly and the food is always scrumptious from the appetizer to the main course to dessert - you cannot go without having one (or more to share) of their delicious house made desserts! Very cool atmosphere and artwork. Creative drink options and terrific wine menu. It's well worth heading up to Mount Vernon area for this hidden gem. Enjoy!

Not a great experience. We've dined at Marie Louise Bistro three times before, and really enjoyed the food and service. We made reservations for Mother's Day expecting the same. It wasn't very nice though. In spite of reservations, we had to take a table at the very front (which we were told was available because others wouldn't sit there). By explanation, we were told it was Mother's Day, implying that we should not expect too much. Service was slow - we ordered coffee while we waited, only one of which arrived. When food did begin to arrive, the soup was inadequately heated and we were provided with no bread (different from previous occasions); my request for bread never resulted in any. It just kept getting worse; we finally cancelled our order (which finally arrived as we left!), paid for drinks, and took off. We drove to another restaurant and had a lovely experience, in spite of a wait for a table.

Mother's Day must be a challenge for a restaurant. I had the impression that the staff at Marie's were having a tough day coping with the crowd. That can happen to anyone. But that wasn't our fault, but that I felt was reflected onto us when we complained about our experience. We won't be back, as much as we enjoyed our previous meals at Marie's.

Marie Louise was an unexpected surprise...quiet, quaint & quality menu offerings. Hard to choose from the varied menu. The Trout Amandine with Creamy Risotto and thin green beans was superb as was my dinner partner's Pistachio Encrusted Salmon Buerre Blanc with the risotto & green beans. Equally outstanding were the huge take-out cream puffs to enjoy later. Marie Louise is now on my short "favorites" list!

Marie Louise Bistro was a perfect place to have Sunday brunch with my son and his girlfriend. The ambiance was peaceful, serene, and conducive to conversation. There was live music (guitarist) that added to the experience. The waiter was attentive without being pushy or intrusive. We had omelets which were good and the price point was reasonable. I would definitely go again and recommend it to others.
