First time in New Hope and made reservations based on a friend recommendation and menu looked amazing. We are fans of creole and were just in New Orleans a few months back enjoying the fair. This restaurant failed on so many levels. We had reservations in the dining room but decided to forego our 8:15 Saturday night reservation and found a table in the bar area downstairs. Before I forget, let me state the BEST part of the meal was the extremely large white wine pour served by one of the staff.
Waitress eventually came by and, without any introduction, asked if we were ready to order. No hello, cordial greeting to welcome us, not even her name. (Still don't know the blond waitress name and I'm looking at the receipt right now and says BAR.) We asked a few questions and ordered the Crock of Etouffe for two to start. As a fan of N'Orleans cooking this didn't come close. It was rice spice soup. Not Etouffe. It had no gravy consistency as one would expect. OK, so maybe it's Marsha's take on Etouffe. Waitress eventually comes back and asks us if we're ready to order again. So WE had to ask are there any specials tonight as we heard others at nearby tables being introduced and explained. She then told us about the specials - wife ordered the Special Strip served like a filet with a side of creamed spinach. I ordered the Death by Gumbo. Steak arrives (and yes it was very big) but strange to see a strip looking like a filet but wife cuts in and tastes and she's happy. She was never asked about sauces she may want for her steak. We both dig into the creamed spinach and....AWFUL. COLD and cheesy slop. We immediately send it back and ask for the spicy fries instead. Waitress glad fully takes it back and returns shortly later with them. Hot but WAYYY too much salt and spice. Totally Inedible. As for me, my Gumbo was another watery mess of rice, shrimp and duck leg. Taste was good, but failed in consistency. We won't be going back on our trip next year.
As usual the service, food and atmosphere was exceptional. Terry did a great job of servicing our table with recommendations and suggestions. Not hovering but always available and on top of things. My wife's steak was cooked to perfection. The Death by gumbo with the duck leg was an excellent recommendation. Appetizers were excellent as were the other two courses. This is one of our favorite spots and worth the hour plus drive. The bar downstairs does an equally great job with the various cocktails and wines. Can dine downstairs as well. All around great place to go.
First time there, but no the last. Wonderful experience.
Staff very friendly at bar. Our server was extremely friendly and first class. The restaurant area upstairs
Where we dined was beautiful. Menu had great options and our meal was delicious.
The welcome we received was so warm and friendly from the valets, hostesses, and the waitstaff. The table was prepared for us with rose petals for our anniversary and we were seated in comfy "loveseats". The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the service friendly, professional, and snappy. My husband's steak was very good, but the jambalaya I ordered was not as tasty as I expected. It was very satisfying however, and I had to take half of it home. It was a lovely experience and I would definitely go there again, and next time I have my eye on the steak!
Overall this was an excellent dining experience we have come to expect from Marsha Browns. Our waiter, Mick, made it all come together. Many thumbs up!
My husband and I went for my bday, when we arrived we had a table upstairs and it was beautiful they decorated the table with confetti (not to much-just enough) and our waitress Karen was totally awesome and attentive - very easy to talk to.
our food came out quickly and it was delicious had a nice glass of wine and coffee over all was an amazing experience and I recommend highly. Thank you to all at Marsha Brown for making my bday extra special, we will be back soon.
First time here and was not disappointed. Crab cheesecake was delicious. Eggplant Ophelia was incredible. Cooked perfectly! Chocolate mousse and pecan pie were divine! Our waiter, Douglas, was funny, informative, and attentive at the right times. Couldn’t have asked for more from him or the restaurant itself. Love the old church setting. Will definitely go again.
My husband and I ate here for our anniversary, it was excellent! Because it was our anniversary they seated us at a special table, took our picture and gave us a dessert all complimentary! We really had a great time. It was our first time here and we will definitely be going back.
Always such a special experience, with outstanding food, wonderful cocktails and superior service. What a treat, I highly recommend dining at Marsha Brown.
Great food, ambiance, and service! We’ll be dreaming of those dishes for months to come. We had the beet salad, jambalaya, and custard pudding. Our dinner companions had the lamb lollipops and salmon and loved their meal as well. We’ll be back!
It's fun and beautiful. Service was good/quick at first, but after dinner, the server was gone for a long time. Waited for dessert. Waited for bill. Food was delicious. Ambiance is very cool.
I probably would recommend it.
The food was not up to my expectations.
I felt like I was eating in a restaurant in New Orleans. The food was so authentic. If you are in the New Hope area, make sure you go.
We absolutely love Marsha Brown. It is one of our absolute favorite restaurants. The ambiance, the food and the staff are amazing. We brought friends who have never been there and they loved it. Highly recommend!!
While the food was very good, except for the fact that not one side came with the $58 surf and turf. Just a plate of protein. Strange. Our seating was beautiful, a couch for two looking over the action, but when we sat with empty plates in front of us for over 15 minutes, it was disappointing. The host was gracious to provide us with free coffee and our creme brûlée to apologize. However, the creme brûlée was ice cold and when I asked about it was told "Oh, that's how we serve it here." Shouldn't good creme brûlée be caramelized before serving? Strange.
Special vacation getaway
Our meal was delicious from beginning to end! Our waiter, Tyler, was warm and attentive making it a very enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommend saving room for the bread pudding!
Enjoyed the experience at Marsha Brown's, our server was excellent! Food was good but not as spicy as would have liked for cajun food. The location is amazing with the stained glass windows and high ceilings! Bread pudding - awesome!
Marsha Browns was fantastic. Everything was perfect...the seating, waiter Adrian, drinks, dinner and you cannot pick a more enchanting setting. I would strongly recommend dining here whether it is a special occasion or you just want a wonderful experience. Many thanks to all for a magnificent time!
Second time there. Entrees were just ok. Filet was tough and fatty. Fish was small.
3.5 star restaurant at 5 star prices. That's pretty much it. If it's convenient and you don't mind overpaying a bit, go for it.
The restaurant has a cool atmosphere and vibe.
Everyone from the valet guy to the waiter was so nice and friendly! The food was delicious and we definitely be going back! They even put rose petals on the table for our anniversary!!
Another wonderful dining experience at this beautifully unique establishment in the heart of New Hope, PA. Crab Beignets we’re out of this world and i recommend any of the bread puddings they have to offer.
Great food ... from the lollipop lamb chops - chicken, BY Strip desert ... the personal touch of the rose petals for our anniversary it was all great. Our server Rachel was out of the world. And even a sweet personal touch getting to chat with Marsha for a few minutes. Wow. Was a fantastic evening from start to finish. Love this place.
Food quality and preparation was outstanding. Service was excellent. Large room with high ceilings so very noisy but as the evening progressed and we were one of the few remaining tables, it was substantially better
Everything was superb it’s my favorite restaurant. The food is so wonderful from start to finish. The service is beyond good and we were seated in the top floor wonderful beautiful room I just can’t wait to return to my favorite restaurant
Great food & service.
It was excellent. Have the 2.5lb lobster. Delish! Also have the crab cocktail and manhattan steak. Yummie. Loved it. The bread with butter and red pepper hummus was a delight in itself. Sooo good. Were going back real soon. Oh and valet parking wow so nice.
We had a lovely meal in the historic building with a classic ambience.
Great food, atmosphere and service. The steak was cooked to my desire and the fish special was delicious.
Great experience! Food and service were excellent! I will be back!
My waiter James was amazing!
Anniversary dinner and the noise level did not allow for any conversation! Never again
This was one of the most enjoyable meals we have had in quite some time. Everything was perfect. Our waiter, Jack, was very professional but funny, very knowledgeable and also very personable. Food was beautifully cooked and presented. The menu was varied with not your run of the mill types of food.
Being in an old church with high ceilings and stained glass, beautiful curved banquettes and pillows, rounded out a memorable experience. We will be back!
I have been there several times and I'm never disappointed! The service, food, and atmosphere are always great! I went with a group of colleagues and there everyone loved it. Most importantly, everyone who works there was extremely pleasant and seemed to love their jobs. Well done!
Absolutely one of the finest restaurants in Bucks County!
Great waiter named John
The ambiance set the tone for a wonderful evening out for dinner. From that beginning, everything was top shelf. The food, service, and wine were all outstanding.
