Mashawi Mediterranean Cuisine
Mashawi is our go-to for a pre-show dinner. There were a lot of guests and the initial service was slow as they accommodated the rush, but once we ordered our food made it to the table quickly. As always, our meal was delicious.
Based on prior reviews, I was expecting the food and experience to be exceptional; however, the atmosphere and food were average, and service was okay. The shish tawouk was tender but dry, and had a stringent flavor to it that the creamy garlic sauce that’s put on what seems everything doesn’t completely compensate for. My husband is not a fan of this kind of sauce either so was not jazzed that his dish came out covered in it as well. I’m sure there are some real winning dishes here, but we didn’t find them and were left wondering if we’d have been better off getting kebabs from the stall in the Armory at the Seattle Center.
Always great food and the staff is friendly and nice
Great service, delicious food and huge portions!
A friend from Redmond suggested this restaurant to me as she knows i really like middle-eastern food but am fussy about it. what a fabulous find!!! We were up for the weekend in Seattle so made a reservation...oh my....delicious, wonderful, pretty,delicious...did i say delicious??? wow.
Superb food. Very good service. This was our second time visiting and we will definitely return.
When we walked in, I saw the sign that said they have no restrooms... After I gave my name for our reservation, I asked if they do for patrons and was told yes. Then we were taken to our table where the hostess placed the menus on the table and left. No guide to find the restrooms...no chair pullout...no mention of "your waiter will be with you shortly"...nothing. Once the waitress finally came to our table (longer wait than we should have had for such a small restaurant with few tables), we ordered beverages and food at the same time. Appetizer came out and we enjoyed it. Dinner then came (probably 20 mins after ordering, normal) and we still has not received our ordered beverages. The table next to us had no problem receiving theirs. Once we finally got our beverages by asking again for them, I wanted to get more than the spoonful of garlic sauce they put on my huge plate of rice and chicken...but nobody came by to ask how our meal was until we were long done eating. I will not patronize this establishment again.
Excellent, as always. Try the Zhara, it's delicious!
The chicken was too tough and the lamb shawarma was cut in too small pieces. Atmosphere did not feel like a Lebanese restaurant.
This was a pre ballet meal. My first time there. We were four people, two pescatarians and two omnivores.
We thought it was one of the best Mediterranean food we had.
Beware that the portions are big.
We had the Mezze, and a couple of appetizers. We had left overs.
The cauliflower appetizer is amazing.
I will be going there for sure.
Very delicious with great service. Quiet ambiance and great if you want to have a conversation while you eat.
On vacation and found this place near our hotel. Delicious food and wonderful service
The place was packed, but the wait staff was attentive and the food was delicious!
No problem with our reservation, seated quickly. Very nice staff. Everything we tried was delicious. Would love to go again.
Overall everything was very good, wonderful aromas and tasty food. One problem was that the kabobs were a bit dry.
Wonderful little place. The baba ganoush was amazing the best I have every had. Nice size plates and friendly service for sure.
I love this place! The shawarma is AMAZEBALLS, their hummus is delicious and they have a great wine list. It's an awesome place to eat before a concert at the Key.
Portions were huge and the flavor excellent.
My friend and I decided to try something different before an evening event at Seattle Center. Mashawi Mediterranean is a very short walk from McCaw Hall, and the food was really good. Portions are huge so be prepared to stash leftovers in your car before the show.
Huge portions, good value, service was a bit off, wine was very pricey with small pour. Will try again.
Attending a Seattle Opera performance later in the evening, we were looking for a conveniently located restaurant. I just had foot surgery, so am using a knee scooter. The staff at Mashawi was terrific taking care of us, seating us, storing the scooter during our meal. Our food was excellent, plentiful, and reasonably priced. The split pea soup was flavorful, even slightly spicy. Chicken curry was delicious. Beef steak was perfectly cooked. Tabouleh and kibbeh appetizers, baklava for dessert, Pinot Grigio. Perfect. We’ll be back.
Mashawi & Opentable should not allow reservations to be
accepted if a decision is made „to be closed“
Between parking, confusion of meeting at Mashawi -
just caused unneeded time loss. Not good.
Food is consistently delicious and well prepared. The prices have increased steadily through the years but very reasonable.
As always a meal at Mashawi is delicious, timed well and served efficiently. Excellent for pre-theater dining before a Seattle Center event.
This is a great restaurant with amazing food and really nice waiters.
Great place to eat before or after a show at Mcaw Hall. Easy to walk to. My daughter and I will be back for the hummus!
This was the first time and definitely not the last.
Every bite was a pleasure.
My spouse had the steak which was deliciously marinated and very tender, she loved it.
My Lamb couscous was enormous, tender and bathing in a delicious sauce, which I had the pleasure of using my spoon on.
Looking forward to the next occasion.
Finding parking blows as usual but food was good.
Average Mediterranean food. I had Ouzi. Lamb was over cooked. But pretty tasty. I also ordered "Turkish" coffee. It was not like any that I have ever had (boiled in a Turkish coffee pot with sugar and cardomon). It tasted like instant espresso. I told the waiter and he said the way I described was how they probably made it in Turkey, but not there it in Serbia where he was from. Go figure.
Dessert was baklava. It was very bland.
Service was ok. The server did not interact with us to check if everything was ok or if we needed anything.
The wine was pretty good. It is hard to mess up that.
Picked this restaurant due to proximity to McCaw Hall and attending an event there at 7:30. Initially service was excellent (6pm) on Monday night. However, as the restaurant filled (almost all tables!), we noticed there were only a couple of servers. We could tell they were doing the best they could but we sat sometimes waiting for next thing, including the check. Food was good and plentiful! Luckily, we had extra time and the waiting didn't interfere with attending the event. I'd go back with the caveat that we plan for the same amount of time. Seating can be tight as well - you'll be close to other folk's tables.
A wonderful, hidden gem. Food was great. The people friendly
Another delightful meal at Mashawi. The service is excellent. The food is always delicious . We have been going there for years and they are always consistently excellent
The meat on the combo kabob was over cooked and dry the salmon dinner was excellent
We had dinner at Mashawi before going to see a play at Seattle Rep. The restaurant was full of theater and opera goers, yet the service was fast and attentive. The food was very good especially the salmon and zahra. We enjoyed it very much. The entrees were large and gave us lunch the next day!
Food was very good, the service was just as good. If I'm in the area again, I will go back.
There aren’t too many places to get a meal before a performance at the Seattle Center, so we opted for Mashawi. I was a little worried as some reviews mentioned the service was poor and took a long time. On the contrary the service was the best thing about our meal. Prompt and friendly. We were with another couple, 2 of us ordered the combo plate and two ordered the wings. The portions are massive. The food just okay. I had the combo, and the chicken, beef and lamb were all over cooked and a bit dry. I did have one of my husband’s wings which was perfectly cooked. No room for dessert.
Though my wife and I went here for Valentine's Day, I can't count it as a special occasion because we also had our 11 year-old with us, so it was more of a regular dinner out.
Though I read some critical reviews citing the slow service, we had excellent, friendly attentive service and terrific food. Everyone felt that it was a new favorite that we should come back to frequently, and sometimes take out from as well. We were very happy with our find.
Have been coming for years after or before an event at McCaw. Food is fantastic but the service is horribly slow the last two visits. Arrived when they opened and waited 20 minutes for drinks. Another 40 for dinner and had to ask three times for the bill. Love the food but the slow service is too much.
A friend and I made a reservation here for a pre-ballet dinner. Service started slow, but I think our server just got slammed all at once. Server was pleasant and offered suggestions. I'm a Libra so I appreciate a server that will tell me what to order. I got the lamb kabob and my friend got the vegetarian sampler. We were both very impressed with the quality and taste of the food. We've each traveled to the Mediterranean and thought the food was on par. We split a bottle of wine, and got about for a little over $50 each. Great value for what we got. Would definitely recommend and will go back.
Always a good value with great food and good service.
