We loved our dinner experience at Matador. We were a family of three, including a toddler. I was very happy to learn that although it’s not posted or available on paper, there are children’s options - spaghetti, cheese pizza, or chicken tenders. We ordered spaghetti for my daughter and grilled shrimp from the dinner menu (listed as having chilli oil but they modified so it wasn’t spicy). I ordered the arroz con pollo (chicken rice) and my husband ordered 3 chicken chipotle tacos and a ginger margarita. To share, we ordered the tortillas chips with sweet pea guacamole. My daughter had a scoop of chocolate ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious, fresh, hot, and well-presented. The service was very good although water could have been refreshed more often. The whole meal came out to $160, which we thought was worth the food and experience. We ate outside - the patio as beautifully set amongst foliage and the tables were not too crowded so we had a lot of space to relax and enjoy the meal. Two thumbs up!

We had fabulous house cocktails in the price w a wonderful young Venesualan woman with long very straight hair. We loved our dinner server( African American woman w long braids) who guided us through the menu. We loved eating outside and the setting was lush and private in feel. Our best experience yet!

Jean-George Vongerichten?? I can't imagine why he allows his name to be associated with the Matador Room. The food was no better or different than an average Mexican restaurant. I was stunned. I was expecting something exceptional and was disappointed. $250 for a meal when I have had better for a fraction of the cost at my local small town Cantina.

I must say that my red snapper main course ($36) was very fishy, over cooked and tasteless. We have eaten there many times and this was very disappointed.

Been to Matador Room many times, and the food is always amazing. The room is just stunning and perfect. However, the service was very off that night. Iced tea was never refilled. Water had to be requested for refills - in the past it was automatic and anticipated. When dessert came, there were no utensils on the table ahd had to ask for them. It took a few minutes and when the spoons arrived, the ice cream had mostly melted. My hot tea never arrived and was on his billl - it was taken off though. The service had always been terrific but was very “off” on my last visit.

The Matador is in the Edition Hotel managed by Marriot but in no regard does the restaurant or its hotel landlord feel like a Marriot! The Matador restaurant is a Jean -Georges creation a la the St Regis and the JG at Columbus Circle

The bar and the restaurant’s interior are breathtaking as the waitstaff is costumed in matador style white uniforms. The entire menu is borne of a distinct Latin / Caribe twist applied to creative haute cuisine. It’s quite an experience. My wife and I shared five “small plates” that included ham and cheese deep fried dumplings , short rib tacos in habanero salsa , sautéed scallops in a cauliflower purée and I can keep going.

While we each had a drink I noticed the extensive wine list. Unlike other Miami “hot spots” the crowd was decorous and clearly respectful of the elegant surroundings.

Not unlike other J-G establishments expect high prices. It’s a treat and worth it. A Morse

This was my second time here. Food is very well done . Scallops , chicken and rice , tacos , fritters , desserts all very well prepared, somewhat subtle but recognizable tastes . Did not care for pizzas . I was expecting a little bit more wow in menu. A little safe perhaps but priced reasonably .

EVERY ASPECT OF OUR MEAL WAS OUTSTANDING. AMONG THE MOST NOTABLE DISHES (ALL WERE GREAT) WERE THE BLACK TRUFFLE PIZZA, THE SHORT RIB TACOS AND THE ARROZ CON POLLO. THE SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL.

Outstanding service. Food was amazing. Those that are dissatisfied with the service time of each dish to each guest is a bit silly. I went with my family and we all shared our dishes, the food was delicious and sampling a little of everything as it came out regardless of whose dish it was. Also ordering apps for the table so that there is always something to munch on. My son shared his pizza. I shared my tacos. The atmosphere was so posh and elegant and everyone there was so accommodating and polite. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will surly be dining with them again.

We eat at JG’s restaurants in NYC often and in fact dined here 3 years ago. The food and service have gone way downhill. It was extremely disappointing. The heart of palm salad was nice but the snapper was dry and flavorless and the arroz con Pollo was stodgy and served with chicken skin that had been fried in rancid oil. It tasted like tortilla chips that had expired years ago. To make matters worse when I tried to explain this to staff it took 10 minutes to get our waiter.
Hopefully they take note and up their game.

It took 55 minutes after ordering for my food to arrive. I order eggs Benedict and bacon. When someone asked how my experience was at the end of my meal, I told it that it took a really long time for the food to come, and she said, well did you enjoy it? I said I did (it was delicious), and she said great, glad you’ve enjoyed your time. She totally missed that I did not have a good time waiting and waiting.

This is a "posh" place--the room is beautiful and there are some interesting dishes on the menu. The standout dish for us was the pea guacamole--absolutely delicious. The rest of the meal was fine, but not outstanding. Service competent, but not outstanding. My big gripe is the use of the "tapas" concept to justify not serving diners together--particularly unacceptable when ordering clear main dishes. It is not enough to say that you are "family style" to avoid the professionalism of a well run kitchen that can deliver main dishes to both diners at the same time.
