Matchbox is one of my favorite places to dine. The food and service is always good.
Food was excellent as always. Service was quite slow, which hasn't happened in the past.
Meal before a concert
Taylor was our waiter and he was amazing ! The pina colada was my favorite !
Our experience was ruined by our waitress.
Great food! Great atmosphere! Great customer service!
My lunch combo of pizza and half salad did the trick. I have always had a good meal at Matchbox.
Great Service and great food! Loved that the place hires teenagers for the summer months……teaching them how money grows! By working!
I like this restaurant. I have been coming here off and on for at least the past 5-6 years. Sometimes there is a miss, but tonight, everything was on point.
Food was great!
I have been to other Matchboxes and have had good pizza. The pizza at this location was pedestrian at best. The crust was not Neapolitan; not even Neapolitan style. The toppings were average. Unless things were to improve, I would never return. One of my guests' pizza was supposed to be a specialty; however, if was almost not edible. My guest was too much of a diplomat to say anything, until we left, or I would have returned it. It was some kind of Chipotle concoction and it was terrible.
Management needs to start eating its products and IF management can’t determine what is not working, new management should be brought in. Send the staff to TWO AMY’S to take some lessons on how to make good pizza.
I always going to Matchbox because the menu is interesting (something for everyone).
Service was sub-par. Dynamite shrimp appetizer not worthy. Salmon and ribs were good.
I enjoyed my time at Matchbox. Our waitress was very attentive to our table and my daughter especially.
Juan De Cruz
The service is what keeps me coming back. To me the menu is meh. My meal was the bbq salmon salad, salmon was perfect, salad was over saturated w/dressing. Someone's heavy hand was showing in the kitchen.
The servers and staff at Matchbox were top notch! We will go again.
Friendly staff and the food always lives up to the Matchbox standard. Everyone loved what they ordered.
As walked up to the door, I almost slipped and fell on the floor panel. When I walked in, the host laughed (I’m not totally sure if it was at me), but my instinct was she laughed at me….not very good customer. Seems like the appropriate response should have been, “Are you okay. I will have someone look at the area so that no one else trip.”
When my guess and I ordered our food, my guess had hair in it so it had to be recooked. A manager did come to the table to apologize which was great.
The service was not too great, the waitress didn’t ask for water refills …. When the returned the food, there was no silverware with it so after 10 minutes I tracked down someone from the bar to get silverware. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded.
This review should only be used for TRAINING purposes. Don’t want to see anyone loose their job because we all need jobs. Just thought this experience would be a good training opportunity for the staff.
Nice selection on the menu and e setons enjoyed their meal!
Met a friend for brunch. The bartender was very personable and friendly. The food was prepared perfectly and was delicious. Will definitely do brunch there again.
My friend and I each had pizza and salad. The food was really tasty. The service is excellent.
The fried shrimp is very good, but only getting 5-6 pieces of fried shrimp (along with fries) for an entrée that cost $23 was a little disappointing. The cocktails and draft beers are great. The artichoke and spinach dip is outstanding.
I think it's overpriced and overhyped. The pizza was just OK...nothing spectacular. I expected more because that's what they're known for. But at least the service was great!
It's been more than a year since I've visited Matchbox and last night's dinner was good but a slight step down in service and selection than the last time. I was disappointed that the local beers I loved are no longer on tap and our server was nice, but not very attentive. He was probably new and seemed to be spending a lot more attention on the group of 10 next to us compared to my son and I. We enjoyed ourselves, but left a little disappointed.
We had a good experience overall. Our waiter (who was being trained) did a good job, our appetizer (the artichoke spinach dip) was excellent, and our cocktails were superb. I didn't love that they changed the recipe for their chicken pesto pizza, but I still enjoyed it and it's still my favorite dinner item on the menu. 4/5 experience this time. I will be going back with my family this next weekend.
Eggs were disgusting!! Very soft and mushy. I asked for them cooked hard and it came back the same way whist a tab bit burnt. Also, they don’t even have a turkey bacon or turkey sausage selection just the nasty uncooked looking chicken sausage (super disgusting)
Matchbox @CapHill has always been a good place for great food. There are other nice restaurants but the food sucks. The only reason why I gave the food 4 stars is because they use to have a selection of sides to choose from. The only side I noticed on the menu to choose from were between two different salads. Its disappointing and I hope they bring back the selection of sides for folks like me that like options.
Service was nonexistent... Had to ask several different staff members to please grab our waitress.
Great for a family occasion. Good food and nice ambiance. Could’ve had better seating but I understand it was busy. Server was great.
The reason for the 4 star for overall experience instead of 5 star is because your entire host(ess) staff left something to be desired. The young lady that was there when we arrived was lackluster at best. And when exiting, there were at least 3 at the host desk and no one thanked us for coming or said goodbye. I guess their personal conversation was more important.
Our waitress was the BOMB
They forgot my order and my order only somehow out of everyone at my table. Then told me that my order was served to another table, and then charged me for it when I told them
“Don’t worry about it”. But y’all don’t have AC so I guess I should give y’all a break huh?
Great food in a fun location. Excellent service. AC was out.
First time at a Matchbox since they closed their 14th Street location. The food was great and the service was good, but the restaurant had to be at least 80 degrees. We were sweating while eating! Hopefully that's a temporary issue.
I don’t like that the tables are not dressed when seated. We had to ask for EVERYTHING. I need a napkin, I need a saucer. Ridiculous. Before seating guests, please properly dress the table.
The pizza was excellent as ever. The fried shrimp and french fries were tasty.
Unexpectedly good! Brunch is hard to mess up but Matchbox did a really great job providing value for money. The bacon was delicious! Most places give you half a slice of burnt bacon but here I got several chewy full-size slices! The pound cake french toast was also really good. I thought it would be too heavy having pound cake and then egg and then fried but it was still light AND the syrup didn't absorb too much so it stayed moist.
The food was amazing, as always! This is one of the first visits I have had here where the service was terrible. At one point, it took almost 25/30 minutes between visits to our table from our server. We saw her wait on other tables and she didn’t even glance in our direction so we could get her attention. We were trying to ask for more water as it was a 90° day but were unsuccessful. If this was my first visit here, I would never be back. Fortunately, I’ve been here enough to know (believe) it was a fluke so I will be back.
Service and food was great. I love that they are still being cautions with COVID-19 Our meals were served hot and just delicious
