Had to queue for half an hour for the table
I haven't been here for 7 years and it is still the same. Really good authentic Mexican food. Great service and I loved the frozen margaritas!
Great place when missing authentic style Mexican food, folks were nice and service was great. A bit too pricy.
Very pleased with this example of Mexican cuisine. Food was great, joint was lively, waiters were friendly and welcoming. We came here on a busy Friday night yet no one seemed stressed and everything was executed smoothly. I can recommend this place for an excellent quality meal and experience.
We came during a festival week with a special menu. We were expecting a good visit- friend over from Spain and wanted delicious Mexican so followed the successful reviews and chose Mestizo. The food just wasn’t very tasty at all- the sauce was bland and neither of us finished our meals. Maybe the regular menu would have been more to our taste.
It was Mexican Independence week and so very busy and only specials menu.
We chose this restaurant because of wide variety of menu especially vegan options, so we're disappointed when told only had a specials menu. Vegetarian options on specials was quite limited.
Noise levels were also very high which made it diff to hear the server explaining the menu options
Real Mexican restaurant. Imported ingredients and original recipes are critical for enjoy a good meal. Personal attention from the Mexican business owner and her family. Tequila and mezcal available at affordable prices.
Very good service: We had a reservation but on arrival since the table was not ready, we were taken to the bar and they offered us a complimentary drink while we waited. Not that many restaurants have that care with customers these days and I was pleasantly impressed by that. 5 starts. In addition the food was very good with very well served portions sizes both for mains and starters. Overall very impressed and will definitely return.
I adore the food here, it really is very tasty! The staff were quite good but needed prompting to take our food orders as they were very busy. As there are so many people eating it is quite noisy and the music was a touch too loud for my tastes, however the food more than makes up for it. I wouldnt come here for a romantic date but a meal out with friends its a perfect choice. I have been twice now and will absolutely go again!
Gorgeous food, so many options for vegans and for gluten free. Potent cocktails, but very tasty! Went for a birthday, and all of us would like to go again!
We have eaten in Mestizo several times in the past and as expected the food did not disappoint, proper and authentic Mexican food even though the heat is a bit tone down compared what you get in Mexico! It was our 10th year wedding anniversary and we had just come from a great trip to Yucatan and the Mayan Riviera so we saw fitting to have Mexican for our anniversary celebratory lunch. We had queso frito and tamales as starters and enchiladas Cancun and Pollo Ticul as mains. Everything was good but the Pollo Ticul came only with two taco size tortillas with I though it was a bit mean. When I asked for a couple more tortillas I was told I would have to be charged a tortillas portion which I thought a bit outrageous. I have eaten in several Mexicans in Spain, USA and Mexico and was never charged for extra tortillas... Dessert was an as expected very good Pastel tres leches and not so good bunuelo. I was surprised that being only 3 people (including a 7 year old child) they charged us service charge which is a first for me in this restaurant and again I found a bit mean. On the other hand, they did bring us at the end of the meal a couple of small margaritas for our anniversary which was a very nice detail. A mixed experience but to be fair, if you are looking for proper Mexican food in London which is not simply burritos, tacos or Tex-mex fare, you should definitely give it a try.
Went here with a friend visiting on recommendation of another friend. The service was friendly and occasionally a bit odd between different staff. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful in making recommendations.
We went for the taco platter which seem to be popular having seen similar on other tables. Food and drinks were good. Would like to see more tortilla served with platter though as we had to ask for more on a couple of occasions.
Good: great atmosphere, interesting and extensive menu, friendly and efficient service, food generally very good and decent portions.
Not so good: salsa was insipid, tables a bit packed in, poor beer choice - only 3 bland blond tasteless bottled beer available, no dark beer at all. Come on, get some Dos Equis Amber, Negra Modelo or Bohemia on the list.
Lovely venue and food, it does get noisy as the evening builds in true mexican style so a wonderful lively atmosphere to be enjoyed!!!
Great mexican in London. Good experience and good quality food.
Best Mexican food restaurant in London I've ever been to! P.S. If you like Mariachi, go to the Sunday brunch!
It is an amazing place where you can try a little bit of real mexican dishes! I am going over each time I can!
Truly authentic Mexican food and the margaritas are fantastic.
Great authentic Mexican food. Every dish was great - flautas to start, taco tray with pastor, carnitas, campechano and pollo con mole, pastel tres leches for dessert. Service was excellent. Unpretentious and lively atmosphere. Third time here and will continue to come back.
I was impressed by the quality of the food and the balanced taste of the dishes I chose, from the starter to the dessert. The service is also very good and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommended!
It was a birthday celebration just me and my fiancé. We had a very good time. Food delicious with a fantastic presentation. Service was quick and professional. Make sure you try the Margarita on the rocks, so good! Strongly recommended for a night out or celebration times. Will go back very soon.
Wonderful Mexican food - we go there with the whole family almost every weekend.
Lovely food, great range of margaritas (definitely try the ginger one!).
Great food. We enjoyed everything and we will return next time we are in the area.
The food here is authentically Mexican. Both I and my friend enjoyed our dishes. I had a prawn salad starter with lovely zingy flavours. My main course was enchiladas con mole. I could really taste the chocolate in the sauce and the other spices. The coconut cheesecake with mango coulis was creamy but not too heavy. If you go on Friday night it gets busy quite quickly.
Great food and amazing service but a bit overcrowded and extremely noisy. Lots of people coming in looking for a table and standing/walking around the rest. Not nice... people coming in asking for a table should be received at the entrance of a rest instead of the middle of it!!!
This is the very best authentic Mexican restaurant in London. The food is outstanding and yum. The service is excellent and very friendly. The food is amazing, I just wished I lived closer to go all the time.
Wonderful and caring service and delicious food. Thank you!
The most authentic Mexican food you can find in London! Eating Tamales y Mole Poblana I felt I was back in time travelling in this amazing county.
Lovely, genuine mexican food - andan excellent marguerita
Great authentic Mexican food,
Carlos and Maria lovely hosts even though it was very busy. Amazing margaritas. Can’t wait to go back.
We tried this place because it was near our Airbnb in London. We liked it so much, we decided to eat there again a few days later!
The food was authentic and incredibly delicious. There was so much amazing choice on the menu I couldn't pick and had to get my friend to pick for me. We got a taco sharing platter and it was outstanding. And although the margarita festival was so tempting, we had soft drinks that made not drinking alcohol very appealing. Staff were friendly and relaxed. Really brilliant restaurant can't wait to go again and work through the menu.
A really lovely time at Mestizo for a Sunday brunch and my friend and I would certainly go there again!
Usually Mexican food is hot, however, we found the food too mild (including Jalapeno poppers). Also the content of alcohol in margarita was almost negligible
This used to be a very good mexican restaurant in London. After a few years, I decided to go back with friends and we are all latin and we were disappointed by the lack of taste on the food. The Pico de gallo was so tasteless, the taco tray is more about adding sour cream and jalapenos than anything else.
Service is not great, they were extremely distracted. We had to wait about 15minutes for our table from the manager (who we found out was also the manager for the bar downstairs). To enter the bar downstairs, it was suppose to be a 5pound cover charge but the bouncer and manager were more interesting in charging 35pounds to businessmen and leaving everyone else queueing in the dark, mafia!
I won't be returning ever again
By far the best mexican food in London. We had a huge problem with the service though, as we were asked to leave are table before our dessert was out of the kitchen and eat it at the bar. Initially we did not think this would be a problem, but after we left the table, we became invisible to the servers and we had to ask for our bill over 7 times. Afterwards, the manager of the place decided that we were 'barred' from the bar downstairs because we asked for the bill in a 'rude manner' - this being the 7th time we had asked for the bill and having been wanting to leave the restaurant for the past 30 minutes. We understand the restaurant is very busy on Thursdays, but it is not correct to treat a group of clients that spent over 200 GBP in this manner.
Really extensive vegan menu and great vibe. Very authentic Mexican food 😍
