Mint and Mustard Penarth
This Indian Restaurant is one of the best, if not the best, in the area.
It serves consistently good food with individual flavours. Whilst the menu is limited, the dishes change from time to time, with some fine Kerala style plates. Service is always friendly and good.
Our favourite place to eat whatever the occasion. With very attentive staff. Highly recommended.
Simply beautiful on ALL levels .... unforgettable
Visited in 2011 and I have never forgotten. We celebrated my mothers 60th this Friday and we had the BEST time with the most lovely staff. The food was out of this world beautiful.
Service was excellent, as was starters. Disappointed with the main dish very bland and very small amount of chicken. Have had the same meal at the Cardiff restaurant in the past which was superb.
Good. As described and advertised will use on another occasion
Good food, Saag Aloo could be better, lovely naan and peshwari bread. Good ambience and service
Food and service were excellent best biryani I have ever tasted (special biryani cooked in a pot with a crust on top) and I've been to India several times. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful food and great service
Very good food as always. Good service. Highly recommended.
Excellent as usual , the trio of chicken is superb , the sheek kabab excellent , the mains were lamb rara ghosh , a prawn with coconut and chillies and monkfish were great , the monkfish was spicy but tasty . Good service as it was very busy
Good atmosphere, good decor and styling, very friendly and attentive staff.
Did not enjoy the chutney tray, mint sauce c was very bland, the yellow stuff was awful, the dark coloured pickle was alright.
Both our mains were delicious (Dhaba murgh & lamb saag) but not enough meat.
We would come again as as overall experience was very nice but would avoid the chutney tray. Kind regards, Tom
My Wife and I went there for a valentines dinner. They had a special fixed price fixed Valentine menu for the evening which suited us fine. Reviews were excellent so - even though we don't like food that's hot we thought we'd give it a try. We needn't have worried for although Indian cuisine it was not typical. It was in fact fine dining with an Indian twist which we loved. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. The ambience and decor we also liked. The restaurant was super busy which was to be expected and we had a short wait for our table. However this was compensated for by free drinks and excellent and friendly service. Will be going again and would highly recommend.
We really enjoyed the food from the special Valentine’s Day menu with tasty choices to suit a vegetarian and a gluten free diner. However the long delays between courses marred the occasion. The manager was very apologetic and explained this was the first time they have held this event. Better organisation next time. We look forward however to a return visit on a non-event evening.
Excellent food and service, the quality and taste of the food served is slightly different to a normal Indian restaurant which makes it stand out amongst its competitors.
We are regulars at this restaurant and have always had a very good experience until last Sunday night. We brought two Australian friends making four in our group. We wanted them to taste as many dishes as possible but the tasting menus was more food than we needed, so we asked could we have four pieces of each starter (some dishes like the samosas has three pieces in a serving) and obviously pay extra for the extra piece. Our request was refused! Very disappointing. There were also a number of flies in the gents loo, very off putting. Hope this was just a once off bad experience.
Welcome, service, food, ambience ... All great! Very busy, but no long waits for food; kitchen coped well. Large party of customers arrived whilst we were there and the manager dealt with re-arranging tables to help this group with smiles and good grace. We enjoyed our evening, thank you.
Always fantastically delicious food & friendly efficient service.
Great food and a great relaxed atmosphere, the options were difficult to choose from as they all sounded delicious. Food was well presented.
We have been fans since first moving to Penarth 14 months ago. We love the presentation and flavours of the food but noticed on our last visit that portion sizes are smaller in some of the dishes than on previous visits.
An extra scallop in the starter, five prawns in a sauce with nothing else, 6 small pieces of swordfish in a sauce with nothing else ( eg pieces of mango) were some examples.
It won't stop us coming but the VFM factor is lower!
Always a lovely meal, this meal was fab. Staff helpful. Great place.
Food delicious as always Excellent quality. High end price wise but don’t mind paying for high standard
Wonderful food excellent service lovely staff it has it all
Salmon so overcooked it was chewy. Nan delivered one basket on top of the other nan, poor hygiene!
Good to see Mint and Mustard back in business after some structural work. A most enjoyable evening with good, food, pleasant and helpful staff and a relaxing atmosphere. One of our favourite restaurants in Penarth!
Fab food, whole experience was good. Would recommend it.
Great place to eat. Lovely venue and good food. Will recommend.
Lovely, tasty food, beautifully presented. Polite and attentive staff.
My wife and I had a very enjoyable anniversary meal at Mint and Mustard. The food was excellent - the kitchen staff clearly took a pride in their work. There were lovely subtle flavours emanating from everything we ate. Even the breads were prepared to perfection. Worth a special mention is the menu itself, which highlights allergen information better than any I have seen. And the restaurant made sure there were good choices for people like me with allergen issues. There were also lots of choices for vegetarians. All in all, an impressive establishment.
Been a few times, never disappointed . Lovely food, staff very helpful. Great place to eat.
Booking system excellent, as was all communication.
Food was excellent - a step up from usual Indian restaurants.
Only one slight criticism. The waiting staff were obviously young and new, and we were a little surprised when the main meal dishes were placed on the dirty plates we had used for popadoms and chutneys. We didn’t mind, but perhaps a little more attention to detail?
the service was great, cant fault it!! the starter was just lovely, then the mains came i had the chicken makhani, it tasted like the tomato sauce which comes out of a tin of baked beans, the daal was quite bland as well! my girl friend had spinach and lamb which was very nice and tender, the naan bread was lovely!! the other times iv been here have been great but what iv noticed is some dishes like the Syrian beef curry is amazing and the makhani is very disappointing.
Delicious & different selection of food on the menu. Decor and atmosphere excellent & great service. The Host was extremely attentive and informative. Will definitely be going again and would highly recommend to anyone.
Food was decicious, service was slow 😏
Was great good and so fresh would be returning. Staff were great and friendly .
initially sat near the door, but as customers came in and left the door did nit shut, so we asked to be moved. service was quite good, but young boy could not tell us anything about meals as he said he was new. pickle tray was not up to standard of many other indians. main meals were exceptional, flavoursome and delicious. wine a little pricey as were other drinks, but these establishments tend to be. would highly recommend this as the food is so good.
Had a good meal at M&M in Penarth, only spoilt by the lack of attention to detail in the service. Having waited 30 mins for our main courses to arrive, one arrive but the other order hadn't been placed so we had a short wait while that dish got pulled together. Still very tasty when it arrived but did take the edge off an otherwise lovely meal.
Better than average quality but prices reflect this. Pleasant surroundings but not that atmospheric.
Will return for occasional treat!
Lovely food, shared lots of vegetarian sides. All delicious. Our choice of wine complemented perfectly.
Excellent, very authentic and delicious food, staff really lovely, nice to see young local staff and service with a smile ;-) thank you
Food and service is always excellent but was extremely noisy which did spoil the ambience slightly.
