We have dined here so many times, and every time seems to be better than the last. The service, food, wines and cocktails never disappoint. Tyler is such a professional.
See you all, again, soon.

This is our second trip to Mistral, and we have been impressed both times by the creativity of their menu and the skill level in the kitchen. Because of anxiety over the virus outbreak, Mistral was quieter than usual, and they had removed some tables in order to allow diners to sit a bit farther apart, which seems like a smart move. But even with the somewhat subdued atmosphere, the food was delicious and the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. Since this was probably our last restaurant meal before we begin "self-quarantine." I'm glad we chose Mistral

Service, dinner and drinks were amazing. We enjoyed every moment and every bite. It was restaurant week but we ordered off of the regular menu. Too many things to choose. So delicious!

Mistral has a gorgeous atmosphere in the outdoor seating area with the fire on. However, Sunday evenings may not be the best time to visit. The food was not as great as usual and the staff was sometimes careless with the way they hand you your dinner.

Hard to rate this one. Unquestionably, this is an excellent restaurant but there were some issues. Ten of the twelve dishes we ordered were phenomenal, one missed the mark (by a lot), the other was not plated well. About 1/2 hour into our experience, a large table was seated on our section. The noise level immediately increased to an 11/10 and conversation at our table was next to impossible. We will go back but we'll have a seating request for next time!

We went to Mistral for a family birthday celebration. The ambiance was very nice and festive. We were surprised that the menu had zero vegetarian entrees on it but were happy that the chef agreed to prepare some "vegetable pasta" outside the menu to accomodate us. Several of the dishes were delicious, like the calamari salad and, but several others were drowned in butter (roasted chicken, the pasta). The deserts were also a little strange - with a weird deconstructed velvet cake with candied beets. Sounds insteresting but wasn't very tasty.

My wife and I had a little weekend getaway in Princeton and by far Mistral had the best food. Innovative and definitely unique. Things on the menu that we had not seen before or not prepared that way even if we were familiar with the ingredients. The small sizes of the dishes encourages you to experiment and try different things. Good bar and solid wine list.

Amazing meal as always.

Some bumps with the experience this time though. Server a bit too quick to remove dishes... Took away our half bowl of rice chips when starters were served! And she seemed to be hovering to clear dishes through the entire meal. Would be less disruptive to wait until all had finished a course and then clear. And then, she disappeared for quite a while after our coffee, so we waited too long for check. And finally, we were on the patio on a very cold night. Heaters and fire are very warming, but we were seated right at the opening of the curtain which provides a barrier to the cold air. All of us felt cold chills on our legs every time wait staff or guests went through the curtain.

All that said, still a great restaurant, and we look forward to returning again and again.

As a frequent diner to Mistral, always try to be honest in my reviews. We were seating immediately even though we arrived a little early. Service is very good. Drinks are always good. Food continues to be excellent. The Fluke Ceviche, Grilled Kale Salad, Roasted Beets & Burrata and Seared Diver Scallops were exceptional but......skip the Pork Schnitzel.

New York fine dining in the heart of Princeton.

Big flavors, but didn’t live up to the hype for us. The menu feels unfocused, service was pretty robotic. The sweet potato and scallion pancake was a food highlight

Way too hot in the out door patio especially if you sat in front of the fire and at the same time burst of cold air would hit you. Uncomfortable. Food and service excellent

Waitress was not friendly throughout the meal and rude. She hurried us to order and then was on us as we finished each course. After tipping her considerably, she then asked us to leave bc there were other reservations. She also said the pork schnitzel was a small dish and it was huge.

Have been upstairs to elements before but even so, wasn’t prepared for how good the food would be. We sat outside, ambiance with the heaters and fire pit was outstanding. Very cozy.

Shares a ton of small plates. Food ranged from good to outrageously amazing.

Bar was great too. There was a loud party of College students and it didn’t detract from the experience and I’d have to guess they were an anomaly anyway. Solid fine dining in a more casual atmosphere

Our starters were excellent. However, entrees were not impressive. Had the pork schnitzel which I felt was too fatty, monk fish was done in a curry sauce with rice. Was not overwhelmed with the tastes and I am a foody person. Was disappointed despite NJ MOnthly giving them TOP 30 in the state. I may try again to see if was an off night for them. I do give them strong marks on appys and shared plates. Just the entrees were off.

This was our second time dining at Mistral and not only did it live up to our expectations from our first visit, it completely surpassed them! We are still thinking about all the amazing flavors we experienced during our meal and cannot wait to return. Chef Mooney and his crew have a great thing going on at Mistral! If you are anywhere near Princeton you have to go try them out - Mistral is worth the trip!

Mistral was a wonderful location to host our Valentine’s Day weekend brunch on the Sunday following a beautiful trip to Princeton, New Jersey or we walked around in Nassau and Palmer Square shops and explored our quaint little corner.

I was blown away by the atmosphere the open concept kitchen and not just the presentation of the food but also the flavor of the food. The restaurant definitely had a farm to table 5 will also add in the unique Eastern flare, they were beautiful decorations inside Including a wooded themed decor, and much to my chagrin And all heated outdoor space with cozy, hygee chairs and a serene vibe. I believe Mistral would be equally as impressive for dinner.

It was one of the most memorable dining experiences my boyfriend and I have had. I would highly recommend!

Went for a belated Valentines dinner. We were really excited about the meal - menu looked great. Food and drinks were pretty disappointing though. The drinks we had were both too sour and the food was largely over seasoned or bland. The steak entree and dessert - a red velvet beat cake - were good but overall, the restaurant didn’t live up to the hype.

We often come here when we are visiting Princeton. The dishes are often intriguing and always well executed. Broccoli beignets with smoked beer cheese were good but not what we were expecting -- I'd call them fritters rather than beignets, and the cheese was tasty but required spreading with a knife (not dip-able). The sweet potato pancake seemed to be inspired by Okonomiyaki and had a similar sweet-and-savory taste -- portion quite generous -- we enjoyed it but didn't think it was a homerun. Fluke ceviche was amazing, great balance of fish, citrus, little dollops of something like creme fraiche (was it coconut milk?), the "broth" was delicious. Wagyu bavette steak was also great (sauce had great depth of flavor), fingerling potatoes had a great texture, as did the creamed spinach. We ordered it medium rare and it was maybe closer to rare (still delicious but a bit resistant to the knife). Deconstructed red beet velvet cake was also very nice, especially the chewy candied beets. I had a really good decaf espresso, it was rich with great body (the server told us it was a new machine). This has become one of our favorite places.

We were there for Valentines Day. The restaurant had a special prix fixe, 4 course menu. It gave you a choice of 3/4 items per course and for $39 you could do a wine tasting as well. I started with the burrata and beets. It was delicious. It was joined by radicchio and the combo of the creaminess of the burrata, the bitterness of the radicchio and the sweetness of the beets were a great combination. That is what Mistral does best! the combine items you would never think of but they always seem to work!
For the second course we both had at the pork belly with hominy in a cilantro and poblano sauce. Very good! We also had the short rib entree. It came on the bone but as soon as you pulled a piece off with the fork it totally cam off the bone. It was also very good. For dessert we had the mint chocolate semifreddo with brandied cherries. Also very tasty! I had the wine pairings and they were perfectly paired as well! We really enjoyed our evening!!

We had six small plates. Five of them were delicious, and the last just was not what I expected. The server at the table was very good. The hostess greeting us at the front door had a misstep, but appropriately referred us to her manager. I use a wheelchair and as the first member of the party to show up, she talked with me. But as soon the other party member showed up (who does not use a wheelchair), she totally ignored me and talked only to him. This slight is unforgivable and their staff should be trained not to do this!

We have been to Minstrel a few times before. Have always had a good experience but this time it was below par. From the minute we sat down we felt rushed to order. Was told the kitchen was busy and we should order our entrees with the appetizer order. Apps came out quickly and no less then 5 minutes after the 2nd app was cleared from the table the entrees arrived. Felt like they were trying to turn over tables too quickly. My wife asked if an app could be made without celery. Waitress said she was unsure and would ask the kitchen and let us know. She never returned and when the app came out it had celery in it. My entree was over cooked and tough. I could not taste anything accept the overpowering sauce on top. I was reluctant to send it back but could not eat it. Was offered to order something different but declined since my wife was 3/4 done with her entree before we were able to get the waitresses attention. My wife’s entree was very good. We decided not to stay for dessert and coffee and somewhere else.
