Now offering a full menu of beer, wine and cocktails for our guests, Mistral’s guests will enjoy a full craft cocktail menu that is both unexpected and attuned to chef Anderson's local and seasonal ethos as well as an extensive craft beer and wine offering with the open of Mistral’s bar
Food was always excellent ! We shared small plates of mushroom toast, lobster ravioli, and grilled brussels sprouts plus the Keylime dessert. Each plate was excellent and the service was quick and very professional. The only negative was the ambient noise was extremely loud. There were many families there which is fine except that there were several screaming kids and it was really hard to have a decent conversation. I would go back.
doesn't live up to its marketing....was surprised by view of dumpsters from outside dining area.
Food is always creative and good! Portion size is perfect and it’s fun sharing . We had the everything deviled eggs, salmon tartare and beef tartare, and the smoked fish dip. All were delicious! I particularly liked the deviled Eggs and beef tartare! We also had the hurrays which was one of my favs!
For bigger dishes we had the crab tagliatelle and the Babette steak. Both were very good . The steak was delicious !
As for the service , it was very attentive but not intrusive .
I just feel they need to slow the progression down a little . They serve a few plates at a time , which is fine but don’t really give
Much time in between when the next group comes out unless
You Ask them to wait .
All in all, one of our favorite restaurants
Mistral is always a fun food adventure. Amazing flavor and texture combinations that we love. Most recently we were seated in the outdoor patio area, which was basically fine but somewhat warm. The giant ceiling fan isn't quite enough to keep that space cool, particularly if you're not situated directly beneath it.
Service was pretty good but a little spotty. A few things we asked for took longer than they should have to arrive.
Definitely a fun atmosphere, which I'd recommend for that purpose. Not conducive to an intimate, romantic dinner.
Whichever cocktails we've sampled on our visits are all delicious! Good mixology. The one thing that our group wasn't too thrilled with were the desserts. They're good but not great, and some are just a little odd.
We'll definitely be back! We'll just skip dessert next time.
Wonderful menu selection and great service. Mistral now on our shortlist of Princeton regulars. If you save room, the Brown Butter Cake is great.
Really bad place would never go back
Excellent food and service! Will def return!
Food amazing, service terrific. My only complaint is they stuck us at a table that was the cut through to the kitchen and bathroom so there was a steady stream of people brushing past. The tables are very tight and people were right next to us. Fine if they were full, but there were a large number of empty tables before, during, and after the meal.
Great innovated food with wide variety . Great service and pleasant staff.
Second time to Mistral, and second time a hit. I was with a companion who had some food allergies. The chef took the time to modify the menu to accommodate her allergies. I have never had a restaurant be that considerate of someone with food allergies, so thoughtful. Once again, the food was outstanding. We had the Brussel sprouts, burrata and steak, all were outstanding. Mistral is my go to restaurant in Princeton. Love it !
Had a quiet early Sunday dinner at Mistral: Good drinks, interesting and delicious food and expert guidance by our server, Christian. Would definitely eat there again when in Princeton.
Our waiter, Tyler, was excellent. Some of the dishes were above average, but not all. The restaurant was extremely loud, to the point of being annoying. Could hardly carry on a conversation at a table for two. Would probably recommend more for lunch than dinner.
Mistral was impeccable. The food and service were awesome. I cannot say enough how great it was!
Sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen with my husband and daughter. The food was delicious and we all thought it was amazing how everyone in the kitchen developed a choreographed strategy and execution of their particular jobs.
My husband said it reminded him of a pit stop in car racing with two to twenty mechanics refueling and changing tires. (Porsche race car driver)
My husband and I have been regulars at Mistral since the day it opened. We’ve loved and it gone to eat there regularly. However, the last two times we’ve gone, the food was just ok. It’s great compared to other restaurants but comparing it to itself over the years, it’s quite mediocre at the moment. Everything is SO heavily salted and I love salt. But it’s so salty it masks the flavors which is one of the best parts about Mistral. I didn’t even want to finish a few of the dishes. Such a bummer.
Went here for an engagement party and they provided excellent service, amazing food and complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate the occasion. 2 Thumbs Way Up for Mistral!!!
Amazing food, and the staff were able to arrange for us to reserve a 6-person reservation. Thanks!
The food was very good. We had several small plates to share. Unfortunately our server didn’t seem like he was in the best mood. We sat “outdoors” but it’s not exactly outdoorsy. It’s more like a campground pavilion, stone walls and exposed beam ceiling. I like that atmosphere so it was fine with me. It’s a little stark. Maybe a few plants would soften it up. They have this cool decorative wall that would be a cool water feature.... maybe it was at one time? Just not working? The brussel sprouts were very rich but good. Ravioli was delicious. We noticed that every other table got a bowl of what seemed like some type of chips as opposed to a basket of bread at the beginning of a meal… We never received that. Love the small plate concept. You can try a little of each dish. The margarita wasn’t very good but the Rikki Tiki Tavi was delicious! We will be back.
I came here during Princeton move-in day and booked this restaurant for dinner as I thought it would be a nice way to treat ourselves after a 'hard' day of move-in. The location of the restaurant is excellent - close to all of the action, which means that parking, particularly during a busy time, is really hard to come by. After parking a couple of blocks down on a side street, we arrived for our 7:30 reservation. We were quickly seated, but our server was slow to return back to us after delivering us water. We looked at the menu for what feels like 5+ minutes (which, when you have nothing else to do but chat and listen to your stomach rumble, is a somewhat long time) before the server returned again - in addition, the server was a bit of a mumbler so we had to ask several followup questions to make sure we heard everything.
We decided to go sharing plates only as it was advised that the entrees were not really shareable. We got the ravioli, cornbread, beef tartare, Brussels sprouts, mushroom toast, and the green papaya & herb salad for a 3-person table. Once we ordered, the food came out at a nice clip. It was a great amount of food, and we were pretty stuffed when we were finished. My absolute favorites were the ravioli (great ingredients, great amount of lobster, delicious veggies!) and the salad (fantastic flavor and very fresh) - if I were to do it again, I would pass on the beef tartare as it has a bit too much chili oil. The food is very delicious but on the richer side, so there was no dessert for us! Overall, would recommend this place for a less busy night as the service could have been slightly better.
Excellent food, service and ambience... great overall experience and a must-repeat restaurant!
Slow service. Main courses were not hot!
Girls night. Our server was great, funny and efficient. Food was DELICIOUS!!
There were flies everywhere. Food was far below our expectations. Huge disappointment! Never again.
I normally rave about this restaurant; its my favorite in the area. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow and I didn't enjoy the bacon hash as much as I'd have liked. The fingerling potatoes were quite large in relationship to the very small dice of smoky bacon that was sparingly added to the dish. My poached egg was overcooked :( and there wasn't much hollandaise. However, the cocktails were wonderful!
Food was just ok for the price - nothing special. Was not busy at all but waiter was MIA...had to hunt him down for the check and found him out front chatting with another staffer. Also, patio area had so many flies - so gross ... was not a good experience all around.
Birthday celebration and we were finished in under an hour, the watermelon lemonade all ice and disappointment! Neither the deviled egg nor oysters were delivered as described. There was also much done to our liking however so we weren’t disappointed however returning proves unlikely, unlike the upstairs Elements!
Great food. Great location. Outdoor seating could use a little better lightening.
I enjoyed it.
Food and service were great. The only disappointment was that when we got back to our hotel we realized our clothing smelled like fried food - probably because we sat in the room connected to the kitchen. We’ll be back, but next time will request seating in a different area of restaurant.
I continue to be impressed by the creativity in their ever-changing menus. Well done!
Food was delicious! Loved the pasta with crab, asparagus and turnip puree! Enjoyed every bite of the key lime dessert! Nice comfortable atmosphere on the patio! We'll be back for sure!
Excellent steak au poivre! Excellent steak au poivre!
The food was amazing! The Brussels sprouts were to die for! I had the Vietnamese noodle bowl and didn't love it. It was just cold noodles with chicken. But my brother had the pork belly sandwich that was amazing! Definitely would go back but maybe for dinner!
A small but eclectic menu. I had the shashito peppers, the corn ravioli and the pollo asado. The food was very good if not memorable. I would return to try additional dishes.
I really love going to Mistral because there is intense flavor in all their food dishes. They bring out the best in whatever they are cooking. It is always an adventure and ever changing when it needs to be. Looking forward to the next dining experience.
Excellent apps and entrees, dessert is a little weak, should have gone next door to the Halo Pub.
We had a fabulous dinner at Mistral, my second time to the Princeton location (we've been to the KOP outpost a few times more). Mistral is a great place to graze - if you buy into the concept of small plates, you'll have all sorts of interesting and dynamic tastes. If you're a three course and done type, I still think you can do well, but there is much pleasure to be had from tasting your way through the excellent menu. Some favorites from this meal: cauliflower beignets with a parmesan brown butter, shatteringly crisp on the outside with an overall hush puppy vibe, ricotta ravioli with sweet corn, chanterelles, and lobster, a fantastic salmon tartare, and a transcendent green papaya salad with confited duck that had been re-crisped in a fryer. Desserts were excellent - I particularly enjoyed the key lime posset with chantilly, graham crsipies (caveat - these were as crisp as Grape Nuts cereal - take care not to chomp down on too many at once), and orange lace. Service was knowledgeable, affable, and attentive. I think the environment is lovely, and the room has an excellent energy. I suppose we should visit that other place up Witherspoon Street, but it's hard to choose anything other than Mistral when we're in Princeton. I think about this food, often, for a while after we've been there!
Meh. Everything was just OK. Not special. Very tasteless scrambled eggs and watery cocktails. While it wasn’t bad, we wouldn’t return.
Amazing food and service. Will definitely be back.
Innovative food with wonderful ingredients.
