We have been coming to Mon Plaisir for over 40 years and while we know to expect good French cuisine,Mon Plaisir has always reliably delivered.
We have been going to Mon Plaisir for over 30 years, on and off. We love its ambiance. We admired the way they are coping with the dreaded covid; the staff were friendly, happy and energetic. The only disappointment was that they had not had their delivery of Pineau de Charent...domage!
Have been to Mon Plaisir several times and the reason I go back is the quality of the food. The only criticism I have on this occasion is that, although still shown on their website, their lunch special has been discontinued in the current climate. No real objection but perhaps it should, pro tem, be deleted from their website.
Waiting time for main dish was too long, it took 20-25 min once starters dishes were collected until main dish was served. On the end we didn't have time for desert . I understand that we had to leave at 22:00 but if waiting time was too long for restaurant with this fame.
First class restaurant serving exceptional food. I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience authentic French cuisine.
This is a very welcoming traditional style French Bistro. The atmosphere is intimate and the service was attentive without being overbearing. The food was good or very good. My guest enjoyed the veal enormously, and the tartiflette was flavoursome albeit rather too heavy, which reduced the enjoyment after four or five mouthfuls. The wine recommendation was excellent.
Absolutely a must ...
A hidden gem ...
Everything was perfect.
Delicious classic French Bourgeois food in a charming bistro ambiance, and helpful cheerful staff. We go regularly.
EIt is a great relief to find my favourite restaurant still here and in its usual great form. London would not be the same without this jewel.
Foods good, wine too expensive
Excellent food and friendly service
I discovered this gem during a trip to London in August 2019 and since then it would be on my list to visit again, which I did recently in September 2020.
I love this place! It's like a little piece of Paris in London! The food is top notch, the staff are absolutely charming and welcoming.
You must book, as it's very popular and fairly small which adds to the charm and character.
The menu is very extensive and if you love proper, home cooked French food, it is a must. All the staff are French, as will speak to you in English or French, whatever your preference.
I can't praise Mon Plaisir enough. I will visit again and again whenever I make a trip to London.
Amazing french experience. My uncle leaves abroad, I live in London, both french and missing home food. We had tonight an amazing experience!! The staff was warm and friendly, food was great, great wine choice. Recommending to anyone who wants to enjoy good food and french friendliness!!
Superb. A little slice of France in the middle of London.
Very welcoming staff who put you immediately at your ease and cater to all your needs without any trouble. The traditional French cuisine is delicious and fairly priced. The ambience is very convivial. I would certainly recommend to all my friends. Mes félicitations!
A pleasant restaurant. Our waitress seemed rather nervous although her boss made up for that! Our food was rather unremarkable and my bouillabaisse was marred by strange small hard grains which I worried about breaking my teeth on. The manager was very attentive, offering me a replacement and free brandies.
The Pinot Noir was good value and the choice of cheeses a delight.
Excellent meal and service. Will return
Lovely restaurant our second visit here. Always great tasting food and good size helpings. Service and ambiance typically french friendly and knowledgeable
It was great to be back at Mon Plaisir. Excellent food and wine at great value in genuinely French ambiance. Highly recommended.
Awaiting the foi gras to be back on the menu!
My friend and I had a delicious meal at Mon Plaisir. I had the Entrecôte with frites, and my friend ate the Duck Confit. Both were prepared very nicely. We also drank the house Sauvignon Blanc. The wine was a good value, and very tasty.
This is a very comfortable, cosy restaurant with a nice, friendly staff.
Fantastic. The meal was superb. Wine wonderful. And our lunch was made even more delightful by the great staff who are super friendly and welcoming. If you haven’t been to Mon Plaisir yet what are you waiting for? Time to make a booking. We will definitely be returning very soon.
Favorite place in London hands down. Excellent food and excellent atmosphere with an old school, un-pretentious and charismatic atmosphere
Enjoyed our lunch and felt very safe Covid wise. We had the set menu - onion soup the best ever and guinea fowl also very good. Rest of the food average but the service and ambience is excellent - it really is like stepping back in time. Wine was good and value for money reasonable for the area. . As Londoners don't know what's taken us so long to discover this place and have already recommended it to others.
The food was outstanding. This is my new favourite restaurant in London.
Friendly service and great food! Would highly recommend.
Delightful restaurant, extremely good food and charming service. Highly recommended.
A visit to London to see my daughter who had booked us a table at Mon Plaisir as part of the Eat Out to Help Out.
On arrival staff were welcoming and showed us directly to our table. My daughter ordered;
I wasn't especially inspired with the boiled potatoes which was included within my meal so asked if I could switch them for the Gratin Dauphinois. The waitress flatly said 'no' I would have to pay for them as an extra item. I was a little taken aback and said that the boiled potatoes didn't really work for me and again she just flatly said 'no, the chef wouldn't like it'. I left it at that and my daughter who had been outside on her phone returned and I relayed to her the potato incident. We continued our private conversation about other things when a different waitress abruptly presented at our table loudly asking if there was a problem about the potatoes. Again I was a little taken aback at the rather rude and sudden interjection whilst we were chatting and tried to explain that I had asked if the potatoes could be switched up to the Dauphinois which was the same price as boiled potatoes. She was just as abrupt and unmoving as her colleague had been, saying we would have to pay for them. Other diners were staring and as she walked away one of the other waitresses said in my earshot 'they are getting the Eat Out to Help Out deal'. I was suitably disturbed at the blatant 'dig' but decided to remain quiet.
We ordered dessert Apple Tart Tatin with Vanilla Ice Cream £7.95. The tart was not a tart it was a soggy sponge base, it was difficult to tell covered in apple slices overlaid with a thick syrupy sauce which was so sweet it was impossible to eat it.
When the plates were removed the waitress asked if it was ok. I said it was really soggy and too sweet and she just stood in front of us and saying nothing she just swifty removed the plates. The remark from the waitress about how we were getting a deal anyway was completely unprofessional, Mon Plaisir aren't losing out
A little piece of France in London. Made use of the Eat Out To Help Out scheme and had a terrific lunch. Authentic french cuisine, very well done. This is one of our favourite restaurants so we will be sure to be back soon.
Very good long established French bistro. Coq au vin and onion soup tasty and authentic. Profiteroles suffered a bit as they are better with warm chocolate sauce and these had come straight out of the fridge so the chocolate was a bit brittle. Service was very friendly. It’s a cosy place.
Great service and excellent food with a quirky and interesting environment
Friendly atmosphere, great food
Great french food and atmosphere. Would recommend .
I absolutely love Mon Pleaisir, it really is my favourite restaurant and have been coming with my family since I was a child for special occasions. The food is not absolutely top notch but it's still really very good, and much of it I feel is. This was the first time I took my own kids along for the a la carte menu, we had a fantastic evening. The service and ambience was perfect. The vast majority of the food was excellent, onion soup, coquille st jacques, creme brulee, gratin dauphinois, haricots verts, duck, moules. I was utterly delighted to give my kids the experience of visiting this much loved restaurant.
Booked Mon Plaisir for a lunch date with my wife. It was a very pleasant dining experience from start to finish. Restaurant was quiet but still had character and ambience. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We will be back!!!
Generally speaking the food and the place were good. There was no much noise as it was a quiet night with not many people. The staff were also friendly and willing to please and help. Nice french people.
So good to be back and to be taken care of by Virginie, Axelle and everyone
Was so good to be back. A lovely table in a cool room on a sweltering day. Stuck to,classics of beef tartare and confit duck, couldn’t go wrong.
Comme toujours on mange tres bien ici. Bon rapport prix-qualite
