We have been doing to this restaurant for decades and it is just as good as ever.
First time there but wont be the last. Highly enjoyable experience
Unfortunately, my first impression was not as good as I expected it.
Meals were cold or luke warm.
The portions were baby size, I had to eat and ask for bread to fulfill my hunger.
A cosy and comfortable restaurant with splendid French ambience. Great service and a good wine list.
Have been a regular visitor over the years and it has never failed to please. The ambience is more "French" than many places in Paris and the food never disappoints. Loved our table in the front.
The main attraction of the restaurant is that it makes you feel you are in Paris. The menu is authentic and the ambience is authentic. It just feels right somehow. On this occasion, i thought the food was particularly good although I thought the cost was more expensive than I remember in the past. The high point is the cheese board to die for which is proper cheeseboard not a selection on a plate. The house wine is very acceptable also. Been there many times over the years. It has never disappointed and will be on our list for 2020. Great institution.
Ambience, food and service were excellent - we all loved the French onion soup starter . Would have been even better if there had been one more vegetarian main option (only two offered veg lasagne and one other). Overall a very memorable lunch!
Great lunch great restaurant and amazing staff. Really enjoyed our lunch there. Been ages since we last visited, won’t leave it so long this time.
coq au vin was ok...the rest of the meal very good indeed.
Enjoyed revisiting this wonderful traditional French restaurant tucked away in Monmouth Street . Held my birthday lunch there last year. Excellent delicious food, very friendly and helpful staff. Always a pleasure to return.
Wouldn't recommend based on this experience which wasn't as good as previous occasions.
Group of 5 had mixed quality of food. Some courses were excellent but others didn't meet expectations.
Main disappointment was the small and chewy rib eye steaks.
Side dishes were very tasty.
Service was very good.
Quite simply the best and most authentic French restaurant this side of the channel. Superb.
Mon Plaisir has the most cozy and inviting ambience you could imagine - a small room with only a few tables visible when you enter from the street (but I know that there are more rooms and tables behind) and a lot of French paraphernalia. The food is all right but not outstanding, especially the pommes sautées that came with the guinea fowl were dull. The service is impeccable but also impersonal. All in all, considering the not too modest price level, an experience that was on the verge of priceworthy.
Old fashioned, delicious French food which we both enjoyed. Nice atmosphere. My only criticism is that the young, French speaking waiters were over attentive almost intrusive
Hadn't been to this 'very French' restaurant for years. Friendly efficient service and welcome greeting at the door. Fine a la carte selection of food, including mustard rabbit and mash, along with very good value set meal at under £25. A very comfortable ambiance and will return for more of the same,
The food is very good - proper traditional french. And the staff very fast and quick. Loved it :)
A lovely meal with good service with the only issue being that one one dish requested from the menu was not available. We were not told on arrival but only at the moment we ordered.
Absolutely lovely. Will definitely go again and would recommend to friends and family
Still outstanding. Quality, authenticity and value all in a perfect mix.
Dear phil7, Thank you so much for your brilliant words, they are very much appreciated by all. Always a pleasure to see you and we look forward to welcoming you again very soon. Merci et a bientot!
Amazing..made my girlfriend was impressed with my restaurant choice for her birthday. Lovely romantic ambiance..thanks guys!
Very friendly staff, a wonderful atmosphere you could imagine you were sitting in Paris!
The food is good and the tables are well spaced so it is not noisy. I would go again.
Thanks for the lovely evening. A bientot!
Good food, good wine, excellent service.
I have eaten at Mon Plaisir a few times. It’s conveniently located and is like a typical French Brasserie.
This time we came for a pre-theatre meal, which the staff confirmed with us when we arrived. However we had plenty of time to eat a meal - 1.5 hours.
We were given the wrong pre-theatre menu to start with; the portions served were remarkably small - my beouf bourgignon was in a plate the size of a shallow soup plate; both meals came really quickly suggesting that even my wife’s salmon hadn’t been cooked to order and neither meal was more than tepid; the tarte tatin dessert was also small and annoyingly our teas were delivered at the same time.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for a pre-theatre meal. There are better alternatives at similar prices in the area.
Disappointed overall with food and pre theatre menu. Service good
The nicest restaurant with lovely patient and friendly staff. It was a pleasure to be allowed to relax unlike so many other west end restaurants, where their only concern is freeing the table for another sitting. You can rely on the French for a restaurant where eating is not a rushed experience, but one to be savoured. The ambiance is delightful and the food is very good... a gem of a restaurant. We will definitely be back. Thank you Mon Plaisir!
As expected and enjoyed by our customers................................
4 of us enjoyed a delicious meal at Mon Plaisir on Saturday evening. My husband and I have visited this restaurant any times over the past 30 odd years and have always enjoyed the food and wine. It was the second time we have taken our son and his girlfriend. Each course was very tasty and filling. A great time had by all.
Traditional French bistro food and ambience. Don't look outside and you could be on the left bank. Wine list is very reasonably priced.
The food was of a good quality and well presented, but nothing special. Service was a bit slow and the waitress got the wine order wrong and had to be reminded to bring the vegetable side order. Having visited the restaurant before it was not of the same standard.
Great meal went back twice in a fortnight would certainly go back again a really great restaurant.
Don't get a chance to go there enough but when I do, I'm rewarded by a warm welcome, attentive service and splendid food. Just the right amount of background conversation, in surroundings and atmosphere that invites you to stay for much longer.
We had a delicious lunch - my son especially enjoyed the tarte au citron.
We first visited Mon Plaisir in the early 70s - first married and living in London, and were fairly regular diners there. Since then, and living some distance away, our visits have been just occasional, although our daughters and their families have visited quite frequently. Coming to the west end to see a show for our 49th wedding anniversary last week, we thought that Mon Plaisir would be a good choice for a meal before the show - a journey down memory lane. We were not disappointed! A fabulous meal and delightful staff, and the atmosphere had not changed since the 70s. A wonderful evening. Many thanks for still being there!
Mon Plaisir has never let me down I have been lunching there for the last 30years
We were given a table at the back. Quite a shock compared to the front. No table cloth, feels like a rough and tumble cafe. The staff were wonderful but too busy at the front. Insist on front table
Dear JohnS, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry you didn't like our cosy back room. Had you mentioned it at the time, we would of course have endeavour to give you another table more to your liking in a different part of the restaurant. Best wishes.
Had not the Mon Plaisir for over fifty years and I was delighted to note that nothing had changed except one thing it was even better.
Dear ColinC, waouh!!! Thank you so much for your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated by all of us. We look forward to welcoming you very soon. Merci et a bientot!
Lovely ambience, and welcoming staff. Great choice of food and wines. An all time favourite of mine in London for the past 3 years.
Great food, vast range of dishes to choose from.
Excellent service as always particularly from the Maitre D'.
Always reliable at lunchtime - often take the 2/3 course set menu which is good value
