Food was well prepared and flavorful. Restaurant is small and seating is tight but it creates an intimate atmosphere. At this price point it was a splurge well worth it for our last night in Edinburgh.

We have loved Monteiths for many years, it was our go to restaurant for a date night and we were really looking forward to coming back to celebrate my sisters 50tb. We had a lovely night, our waitress was brilliant and the ambience was perfect. The only negative we had was that our fillet steaks came with a huge bone barrow which took us all by surprise and really spoiled the plate. The presentation was really overbearing to have a big bone on the side Our waitress was brilliant and took them off our plates and the table as she could tell we were quite shocked. The sauce was described as peppercorn but it was more like a very rich dark gravy.. It was a bit of a shame ! I remember having the best steaks in Monteiths and had recommended them to our friends so had ordered 6 of them! But sadly I’d say the bone marrow and rich gravy spoiled the dish

Lugar pequeño, súper acogedor. El servicio excelente (la mesera que nos atendió, súper amable!). La comida y bebidas, muy ricas y de buena Calidad. Súper recomendable

Our table was served by two attentive waitresses. Food choices and recommendations were offered with appropriate information. Cocktails were refreshing and creative matching their description. Apps were light and flavorful. Entrees were served hot and were classy. The venison, served medium rare was cooked perfectly and with wonderful mushrooms and other sautéed vegetables. The salmon was just right. The cheese soufflé came with lovely greens for a lighter fare. We moved to the bar for dessert and cordials. The service continued to be excellent and the raspberry sorbet was delicious. A great evening for our last meal in Edinburgh!

One of our favourite restaurants! Tried steak tartare for the first time & it was delicious. Wine was lovely too.

Good food. It’s a bit expensive but I don’t know any restaurant serving venison cheap! Service is normal. Some dishes are not served very well : I mean that "tartare" should be put in a round cookie cutter in the middle of white plate. That avoids to add useless chips with a tartare (very strange chips with a tartare!). So some little mistakes like previous but food was very well despite the shape. But the worst point was the noise. It’s too noisy and it’s unpossible to appreciate his dish with lot of noise. So go for food but not for shape or noise.

We had a bar booking. It was very dark in the corner where we sat. The food was really good. The wine so so. Would have expected a better wine (not a 3,4 on vivino) Sevice was good.

The resturant is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We waited 20 min past our reservation time and they comped our drinks while we waited. That is a class move. But, the food took a long time (they were very busy) and it was 50/50. My partners steak was good but my fish was bland. All in all it’s lovely but I am not sure the price justifies the output.
