About

The name Mumbai Chilli was Inspired by his initial experiences with food during his time in the early 80′s working at the Sands Hotel, Mumbai. During the later part of the 80s, his time in Mirch Masala, Mumbai, again helped to expand his range of tastes and flavours. For the next 7 years he further expanded his knowledge at the Maharajah Palace in Kuwail. ln 1995 he moved to Nepal where he opened his first restaurant, Mumbai Palace. 1998 saw his biggest change when he moved to London and began work for Organic India, a supplier of fine Indian Ingredients. From 2008 until 2010 he worked at Tandoori Nights in Cockfosters, Enfield as the Head Chef. Now he wants to truly express himself and show that he is truly ready to bring his tastes to you.

Last minute find on web browser. After reading the reviews we thought we would give it a try as it is quite local to us. We are vegetarians and we’re not dissapointed with the dishes. All of the dishes were served hot, the rice was perfect and all of the flavours were delicious.
Good service.
We will definately return.

Iv been to quite a few Indian restaurants in my time. This was head and shoulders above anything Iv tasted.
Not only that it had all the other things I look out for. Warm plates . Fresh flowers. Really nice pleasant and polite staff. Would go there all the time now.

We're regulars at Mumbai Chilli and the food never disappoints. It is consistently good, very tasty, spicy without burning your mouth and loads of vegetarian options. Would highly recommend.

We eat at Mumbai Chilli regularly and the food is always delicious. One of the things we love about the restaurant is that the food is always consistently good, we've never had a bad or even average meal here. We've taken several friends and they've all enjoyed it too. There is a large choice of dishes, including lots of vegetarian dishes, which are very inventive and tasty. The service is good, very friendly and welcoming. We think the food at Mumbai Chilli is the best Indian food in Derby.

Went to Mumbai Chilli solely on the reviews that had been left by previous diners. Spot on ... Thank you. The food was simply fantastic and the service was without fault. As per a previous reviewers comment, if you can overlook where it's situated, you'll be in for a fantastic treat. A hidden gem which we'll be going to again. Have already recommended it to friends who regularly go out and are looking for something different.

Great for fish curries.
The food was well presented and very fresh.
The starters of vegetable pakoras and Indian fish fillet were delicious.
Main courses of Mumbai fish curry and chicken biriyani were deicious and generous.

This restaurant is perfectly acceptable. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to sing the praises of. The area is it located did not seem very pleasant, and I was quite worried for my car whilst dining. I wouldn't make an effort to go there again.
