Nakhon Thai - Royal Docks
The flavours of Thai cooking are easy to identify: Lemon Grass, Fish Sauce, Coriander, Galangal, Garlic, Sweet Basil and Coconut Milk; all combined to make a harmonious and unforgettable experience, as is its aesthetics.
With its philosophy of decorated dishes, beautifully set out in small groups, accompanied with exquisite vegetable carvings and complemented with tiny bowls of clear soup steaming beside communal pots of fluffy fragrant rice. All elegantly placed together to be served in the manner for sharing.
Thai food is known for its diversity,< as each dish reflects heavily upon its geographical origins, thus by drawing upon these influences we can create stunning culinary masterpieces.
But its popularity has grown of recent, corresponding to today’s genre of nutritional thinking, as Thai cooking emphasises upon fresh ingredients, no artificial enhancements and the preserving of flavours.

Restaurant is okay; lots of rules everywhere - don’t do this, you’ll be charged for that etc. Drinks service was slow and food was very average
Good food, great service
Food is always good service was a bit slower than normal and the pop up beach has slightly restricted the view.
In the summer it’s so nice to sit outside and enjoy the view. Sure there is airplane noise but for some that’s part of the attraction otherwise you can sit inside and not get that side of the experience.
But food is always brilliant
This is a pretty decent restaurant. Service was ok and the food decent enough. For London it was fair value for money.
Great location and very good Thai food
A little gem tucked away on the Docklands riverside, the ambience was perfect as we dined al fresco watching surfers & wakeboarders - it felt like we were on holiday. The service was fantastic - attentive & friendly. The food was wonderful - fresh and the choice plentiful. Couldn't fault anything and would definitely go again.
I love Nakhon Thai. I have been going here for a few years, been at least a dozen times and every time the food and service has been lovely.
Second visit to Nakhon Thai and can't complain! Food is good and portion sizes decent. Service also attentive and good value for money.
Food great, view great, couldn't ask for more. Service was great, best Thai food I ever had!
Really good, though not exceptional, Thai food. Lovely ambiance; looking out over the Royal Docks on a beautiful sunny day was a treat, though I’m sure it would be just as lovely at night with the lights reflected in the water.
Service was prompt and friendly. A fine neighbourhood restaurant
Very nice and friendly staff. Tasty flavours, not over powering and great value for money. Love date nights at NT😊
Food was good but kind of lukewarm when we received the beef green curry and the beef were lost somewhere in the gravy and packed with veg instead of beef.I have mentioned to the staff but as if they don’t take customer feedback seriously.Service was not I expected as No one came to the table to take order until you have to look for someone or grab attention. No one came to ask how was my food but I saw waiters going to other tables but completely ignored my table. My partner loves Thai food that’s why we went there for a special occasion.Manager should take customer service seriously as myself GM of a restaurant
Great al fresco dining with decent food and friendly service
It's nice to find a good restaurant in this area as it is SPARSE for tasty food! I had the red duck curry and if the duck had been tender (it was tough) then I would have given this a five star. The flavours were delicious and the chargrilled mushrooms to start were amazing with the fresh lime and chilli sauce on them (very spicy!). We also had the INCREDIBLE chilli martini which was just the most fantastic cocktail!
Service was on the slow side but always very friendly (the guy bringing the drinks said ' spicy spicy spicy' and looked concerned that we didn't realise it would be properly hot. It's fair enough since so many Thai restaurants seem to dampen down the heat of their food for western palates (which is fair enough, I can't handle FULL thai heat but still like it very hot!).
I'd recommend if you want a tasty meal and are stuck at Excel for a weekend!
Beautiful atmosphere, amazing food and service. The food tasted so good loved the appetisers n the non-alcoholic mocktails. Would defo come back again and rememd to everyone who haven’t had Thai.
First time visiting this restaurant and can't fault it. Lovely surroundings and decor. Staff very attentive and gave advice on spiciness of food. Food was plentiful and they boxed up what we couldn't manage to take home. Will definitely go back
Good tasty Thai food
We had green curry and for the first time yellow curry...very nice...mango and sticky rice for dessert delicious.. good friendly service..
Lovely place, great service. Hidden gem that I hope more people travel across the river for when they’re in the North greenwich area
Food was awful, smelt awful, tasted awful, I’m not sure if it was a one time thing or if we just didn’t have great luck, overall, wouldn’t recommend.
The atmosphere was very good and the staff were welcoming and attentive until the end when we were left alone a bit too long as they prioritised packing up for the night over checking if customers wanted anything else (we would have had more cocktails!!) or even the bill!
The decor was interesting and location on waterfront has fabulous views.
Overall I think the food was a bit disappointing. My duck was over cooked and rice was tasteless but the starters were very good.
I would go again but choose different mains and see if it could be better.
Nice place with friendly staff
I recently went for dinner here with my parents for a casual but special occasion. The service was good, the place cosy and the food delicious. Looking forward to going back there soon. The yellow king prawn curry and the Thai Fish cakes were especially delicious.
About my third time here and amazing as always
Lovely food, lovely service, lovely view. I would recommend the Thai green curry spicey tangy and more-ish. Value for money and portion size is big. Overall a delightful meal for two.
A wonderful night all round
It was my partner’s birthday and we could not fault the service, ambience or the food. We had an amazing time. The service was top notch and the staff were extremely attentive. As for the food....... Every course was beautifully prepared and presented. Absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend Nakhon Thai for a special occasion or just for every day dining.
Great food and service, a perfect place to hang out with friends and family and enjoy an authentic Thai meal.
Lovely food and staff. A bit cold in there though
Nice looking Restaurant. Fast service (if a bit robotic). But poor food quality and uninteresting menu really let it down
Fantastic food and great service.......highly recommended!
First time in Nakon Thai and if I'm honest I was pleasantly surprised. Ambiance was nice, food was good with reasonable sized portions. I would go back again.
A beautiful evening celebrating my birthday with friends. Fantastic food which was served quickly and a warm friendly service. We arrived a little late but we were still welcomed. After our 2 hour slot we sat outside in the warm evening sun and had drinks. Great views over the river Thames so we ended up staying nearly 4 hours. Definitely will go again. This is how life should be. Good food with the right people in a wonderful place. This is Nakhon Thai.
Authentic thai food, unapologetic with the spices, not fir those who like it mild. Standard favourite for both earing in and takeaway.
Loved coming back to the Nakhon Thai. Service was excellent and the hosts were attentive and thoughtful. The food was superb - as usual - with a great selection to choose from. And the aspect is just lovely. We sat in the balcony area - which felt really secluded and gave great views over Royal docks.
Car park is a challenge to find, but worth the effort:-)
Perfect place to meet up with friends. Great food, fab location and lovely people, will be back.
Have been to this restaurant a number of times for client meetings but this time it was for a family get together. There were 11 of us and they took great care of everything. Brilliant ambiance and the food was fresh and magnificent.
Food was very good and the service was excellent, we went there on the advice of a friend and were not disappointed
We waited over an hour and a half for our food, which was bland.
Two separate different dishes tasted exactly the same
Would not come here again
Very convenient to west end of London Docklands. Nice atmosphere and good food.
Great food, reasonably priced, but the whole evening (a Saturday night) was spoiled by the service which was unacceptable. Some people actually left after their starters because of the delay. In fairness to the management, they were very apologetic on numerous occasions and did deduct the service charge and the cost of a bottle of wine, but it was an extremely long evening!
