We had a delicious and warming meal today on a cold and damp Sunday. But the restaurant was host and warm. The entire menu was available which was great and we sampled 4 delicious main courses-steak and ale pie, the huge juicy burger, the tandoori sea bream and the Smokey fish pie. Each dish was superb! My tandoori sea bream was cooked in a Thai green curry sauce that was light and a bit spicy but fantastic with the meaty sea bream - an inspired recipe.

Went here for my birthday, and it was exceptional. From the service to the food. We had prawns, olives and cauliflower bites to start then the beef for main, best food around.

Beautiful setting, food nice and tasty, service fantastic….but very pricey still.

Really beautiful pub renovated to a sensitive but modern standard, cosy and tasteful interior. Friendly helpful staff, great and well priced menu, fab for families (I visited with my 8 year old). Worth travelling for and we will visit again. Met the high standard we expected from regularly visiting the market halls also operated by this group.

Nice friendly big hotel, bathrooms need a refresh. Very comfortable bed. Ate lunch at hotel was really nice pea and ham soup was lovely and club sandwich was good. Had dinner at Salt but everyone moved to bar lounge area as hotel was quite bit was still good and food was good husband had pork, he thought was good but would have preferred a crispy skin. Being gym members we got 20% off food and drink so that was good too, overall pleasant stay on way to family in England
