- GGaryMunster •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoFantastic night out. Sam’s food is fantastic. We chose the 4 course menu at €75 a head. Dashi Waffle with Roe Mousse to start I loved. My wife thought it was a bit too crispy for her. She chose Scallops for her starter I had the Quail. Both were perfect. Onto the mains and for me the Beef Fillet. WOW! Melt in the mouth tender. The Bone Marrow and Tarragon Custard was a real surprise. The other main, Sea Bass with a Bouillabaisse dressing, was stunning. I can see why it takes 2 days to make the Bouillabaisse. Both desserts were the perfect end to the evening. Chocolate and Whiskey Dulce de Leche Crémeux with Pear Sorbet and for me Gooseberry and Apple Pavlova. A lovely surprise at the end when my wife was presented a birthday treat of a plate of handmade chocolates and treats with a stunning raspberry sorbet. The wine was well chosen and well priced. But regretfully they didn’t have the bottle I preferred but the one I did choose was very good. I read reviews prior to this about the harsh lightning and coldness of the dining room and dressed for that. But Sam seems to have taken notice of these and the lighting was very subtle and the room plenty warm enough! Great service from our waitress, whose name escapes me, sorry! Sam came out at the end if the meal to chat to us, which was lovely, he has great ideas going forward and I hope all his hard work and dedication to his art gets recognised soon. We look forward to eating here again very soon. Thank you for an absolutely lovely evening.More infoLil's RestaurantPrice: Very Expensive• Irish• Clonakilty•4.6
