Beautiful decor, really tasty food and excellent service. Couldn’t ask for more on a rainy day in York.

We had a really lovely flat iron steak which was £16. Great price ! We ordered 3 sides; cheesy broccoli and cauliflower, spinach and asparagus flavoured in garlic and creamy mash. All the sides were gorgeous !! Although we did have to send 2 back as they were not warm enough. The next lot was piping hot. Service was really fast and we had a lovely waiter.

Extensive and interesting menu with plenty of gluten free options, helpful advice from server regarding options. Good wine list and not over expensive . No delays in being served, food very well presented with sensible portion sizes. All well cooked and flavoursome. The Eton Mess with strawberries and pistachio pieces was the best I've ever eaten. Only one suggestion for improvement, the gluten free bread was the plain white sliced loaf. There are many options for better bread, Scharr brown ciabatta roles, long shelf life, or genius wholemeal buns which can be reheated from frozen in seconds. Overall an excellent experience, we will certainly return on any future visit to York.

This was a belated Christmas treat with friends and we had a lovely time. We thought the view from the table was outstanding and the food was plentiful and tasty.
