Perhaps as towards the end of serving time at 5pm and the place was not busy that we did not get the best sunday roast beef dinner. Food arrived ready plated and swimming in gravy - good for some. But this soggued the excellent roast potatoes and swamped the rest of veg. But the major disappointing element was the meat. 3 very large thick generous slices but were so tough to cut with the steak knife that you had to make space for the plate movement. Thinner slices would have been better I think. The 8oz fillet with salad and chips was better but overall was disappointing food for the price paid. The wine and drinks were good, but again not cheap. Service was friendly and efficient.

The food was amazing and is on the pricey side but it is to be expected. The service today was very poor compared to normal as we waited about 40 minutes for our drinks. People coming into the the restaurant after us were getting served drinks before us.

Me and my daughter had a lovely early dinner here on Friday night the host and our server were so helpful and made sure we were well taken care off - definitely be back!

First time of going to Shanghai 1814 and I highly recommend it .. beautiful decor, immaculately clean, wonderful ambience, very pleasant, professional, friendly staff, and the food (we had the lunch menu) was the best I’ve tasted. Fantastic cocktails too. I feel you can tell the cleanliness of a restaurant by the toilets and I have to say they were also immaculate, & so pretty, as good as any 5* hotel. All in all, I would say go and see for yourselves, you won’t be disappointed.
