Went here for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent, great wine menu and very pleasant decor. On the negative side service was only okay - they weren’t very busy but it still took too long to take our drinks order. We were also left waiting after finishing off bottle #2. More attentive service and we would have had 3 bottles easily. Still, on the whole a very pleasant experience and I’m sure we’ll be back.
Saw a £20 offer for food here so thought we would try it. This excluded so many things that meal ended up being quite expensive, was OK but felt the offer was a bit misleading.
Enjoyed the set menu for Saturday afternoon lunch preceded and followed by drinks in the neighbouring Old Bengal Bar. We chose a bottle of red wine over the limitless bubbles offer but that put us in the minority compared to the other customers. Good meal and service made this an enjoyable occasion.
Very good experience here, felt very welcomed. only criticism would be that the mushroom , lobster mac and cheese were slightly over salted . and also medium well steak was slightly too rare but was good to taste . all and all very good experience. most likely to return .
Great experience. Food was good. It was a birthday celebration and because it wasn’t overly busy we had great service and experience. Only point is when ordering a drink be careful as they give you a double shot of expensive Grey Goose so got hit with an a bit of an unexpected bill. Orherwise the set menu was good
We had a enjoyable romantic birthday dinner. Staff very attentive and food was delicious.
Handy location tucked away 5 minutes from Liverpool Street Station. The interior is lovely and the food good. The service is efficient but I never feel that the experience is at all memorable.
This is a great chilled place for Saturday night dinners. Good wine selection. The food was cooked well. I enjoyed it and would recommend. Scallops starters were amazing.
Absolutely wonderful food and service.
Loved everything about the experience. Staff were delightful and accommodating. The food was exceptional. Although we had an early dinner at 6pm we were made to feel very welcome. Highly recommend the rib eye.
The Sunday Prosecco brunch was a lovely occasion at NSG. We had a brilliant waiter, attentive and kept us both topped up with Prosecco. My friend is vegan so her starter and main were slightly adapted for her. A very good brunch, leisurely, and we were the last to leave! 😉
Steak with blue cheese sauce totally amazing. Great service and quality food.
Steak was cooked from cold, chewy/grey and under seasoned! At £32 there’s much better steak to be found close by! Tiger Prawn starter under whelming at £20, again other restaurants knock spots off that! Confusion between bar and restaurant with tab which was frustrating! Wine list differs between bar and restaurant which is not ideal! Unlikely to return...
We used to go here once every few months but stopped when I no longer worked nearby. Took some friends out for a meal and looked forward to it immensely. I found everything overpriced - 4.50 for a single standard sized prawn is ridiculous (as is charging by the prawn/scallop IMHO). Steaks average (difference in size & shape for the same steak was astounding), mine had way too much gristle.
Half the restaurant was closed, no table cloths on the sticky tables, had to ask twice for bread. Just generally an average experience which was really irritating because of the price of the food.
I can't say I'll be back.
Good quality not cheap outstanding staff
Good food, staff and value for money too
The food was nice enough, staff great but the portion size was small. In my opinion £80 is a lot for a simple lunch without wine. Could have been a bit better for the money.
Not the best experience overall.
We had the surf and turf deal but the waitress looked very confused from the moment we arrived.
She couldn’t tell us what wine came with the meal for a start.
Oyster starters were good.
Then the steak come out with the sides. We asked the waitress where the lobster was and again she was confused. Manager came over and he apologised and said the tickets hadn’t gone through the kitchen. He was really good to be fair and sorted everything.
The steak was really good standard.
Maybe if the waitress was better and understood the menu, it might have been better.
Will return. Thanks
Starter was good but despite asking mains came as soon as plates were cleared.
Steak was then initially undercooked and then over!
Cocktails and wines were good.
Very impressive find, and very good as a meeting spot close to Liverpool Street Station.
The set menu is fantastic value for money, and the food and service very impressive.
It was my daughters birthday and we were finding it hard ti find a nice restaurant as it was bonfire night this restaurant gave excellent service and our waiter for the night was funny and great with us put us right at ease
Will defiantly be returning
And thankyou for the birthday cake and bubbles x
Mrs j nicolson
went there yesterday for lunch group of friends for a birthday was super.great ambience very good value lunch and bottomless.and great service too
The service has been very disappointing on my last few visits.
Staff were attentive although service was slow. We went for the rump steaks on the set menu and one was over cooked and two were very chewy! Overall a nice place to eat with good atmosphere.
Superb friendly staff who were attentive without being overbearing. The food is out of this world - we managed the Tomahawk and a Chateaubriand which were both quite possibly the best ever tasted, perfectly cooked and clearly the highest quality ingredients.
Will definitely be visiting again and can not recommend this place highly enough.
Food was ok, nothing overly special Ordered a rib eye steak medium rare, turned up blue one end and well done the other end!
On the pricey side. Cold draft near window where we sat however the food was amazing (beatnik lamb steak I’ve had) and service was on time and polite. Could have given us a drinks menu as well as the very expensive wine list. Would love to go again but it was a day out and we should have taken more funds to have enjoyed the lobster ☺️
It was nice, partner didn’t really enjoy her steak much, but it was good
nice steak good service, for the price of a set menu the restaurant represents good value
good food and very helpful service. The location near Liverpool Street is very convenient. We arrived around 7-15 and the restaurant was full and quite noisy. It quietened down later and was fine by about 9 pm.
Lovely ambience and fantastic value for money. Food and service were brilliant.
We had the chateaubriand sharing steak with 2 glasses of wine deal. The meat was very good quality and the wine (Rioja gran Reserva) was excellent. I also had a half lobster, the broccoli and sweet potato fries,my date had mac n cheese. All of which were luke warm/cold when they arrived. Not once did the waiting staff ask how the food was they were scarce throughout the meal, it was lucky that I didn’t require a top up or further drinks and they also cleared the plates while I was in conversation; without asking how the meal was. which didn’t give me a chance to mention that although the food was very good, it was a lot colder than I would expect especially when the restaurant was nowhere near busy the saving grace was probably the quality of the meat which while I understand it needs resting could also have been a lot warmer
Service sketchy to start with, but improved during the meal. The large number of big groups attracted by the bottomless bubbles promotion made the noise level so high that, at times, it was impossible for us to hear each other
- helpful and friendly member of staff to greet us
- starter was great
- the D&D October 'treat' of petits fours were sweet at the end
- rude waiter, who did not provide us with the set menu (for which we'd pre-booked), was very suspicious that I was a D&D London Club Silver Member (who was stunned when I showed him my membership card and took it away - I had to ask for it back!), and was condescending & unhelpful to us on more than one occasion
- the sommelier brought us the wrong wine, which was actually not very nice, and more expensive!
- unsatisfactory toilet facilities: unisex, dark, not terribly clean, and with no hand drying facilities
- very noisy
- felt a bit short-changed with the set menu: my dining partner's main course was just a piece of meat and potatoes, so it definitely needed (green) sides... A few salad leaves might have been a good idea, at least!
- cheese board lacked variety, although the chutney was lovely
Very nice meal, enjoyed by all. Will definitely return
Great value for money and good steak
Has to best steakhouse in the city! Edges goodmans and Hawksmoor. Got the 1.2 kg porterhouse and was cooked to perfection!
The Food, service and ambience was great- can highly recommend the new street grill.
