About Nipa Thai
In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Kai Haw Bai Toey - deep fried marinated chicken in pandanus leaves, Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai - chicken in green curry soup, also recommended the Nipa platter - a selection of the chef's special Thai starters.

Nipa Thai Ratings and Reviews
We are becoming regulars at Nipa Thai and each time we go it just gets better and better. I had the pleasure of meeting the Head Chef Sanguan Parr, a lovely and supremely talented chef who is maintaining the Thai tradition where the kitchen is a female domain! I cannot praise Nipa Thai enough - anyone who wants to know what proper Thai food should taste like – and to experience what it would be like to east in restaurant in Bangkok - then this is the place to go. We will be back very soon…..
Very good restaurant, more specifically the food, the service and the ambiance were all excellent.
Very cosy atmosphere with dim lights and elegant decor. Suitable for most occasions that are not intended to be boisterous Next time in England we will return.
Met up with our daughter and son-in-law to celebrate her birthday. Chatted with the maitre de on our arrival and mentioned our daughter's birthday. She was presented with a helium balloon and brought a special dessert with a candle. Food was fantastic. We chose the set menu - I have to avoid gluten and the only thing I had to avoid was the spring rolls. We opted for the wines paired with the different courses but I think another time we would choose to share a bottle of wine. Would definitely recommend.
We came back a second time this week and were so very glad we did. Ordered off the ala carte menu this time for 5 people. All delicious. Highly recommend the phad Thai with Prawns (I've sampled phad Thai throughout the US and even in Europe and I've never had better). My husband raved about his spicy sea bass dish. Even the desserts. Most of all, the attentive staff gave impeccable and polite service. Pretty views of Kensington Gardens/ Hyde Park too.
Hands down the best Thai food we have ever eaten! We did the tasting menu and were pleasantly surprised from start to finish. Great attentive staff. Overlooking the park. If you travel before the construction is done (summer 2017), ask for directions as the way in is through another restaurant. Anyhow, we've already booked it again and bringing family and friends!
Food was excellent, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Reasonably priced for where it is. Service was good, mentioned to the waiter it was my girlfriends birthday and they brought her out a free dessert with candles and sparklers and sang happy birthday to her, which was very nice. I would recommend it.
We have been here many times and it is always fantastic. The food is very authentic. Fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. The service is friendly and professional - the management recognise us now and we are treated like VIP's! Many thanks Nipa Thai. We will be back again soon.
Go here often for some great Thai food - some of the best we've tasted anywhere (including Bangkok). The room feels luxurious and has great views to the Park. Service is very well mannered and polite. Recommend when you fancy a Thai meal but want a place that feels a bit special.
We had the pre theatre platter with a cocktail for £25 which was great value and the food quality was excellent.Would definitely visit again to try the a la carte menu when we aren't in so much of a rush.
Excellent service - would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I had the massaman curry with coconut rice. It was amazing, one of the best outside Thailand. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I saw one bring some toys for some of the kids dining there. They also gave us extra crackers one the house. The service is really five star!
For the past 4 years or so, I've had a deal with a close friend of mine. On my birthday, she takes me to a steak place and on hers I take her to Nipa. It never, ever fails to impress me. Starting from an easy booking to a courteous, warm Thai welcome to the restaurant followed by a floor to ceiling window which most tables look out to - everything is fantastic. Dining at Nipa does come with a steep price but I can safely say that it's so so so worth it. As for some recommended dishes - the tom yum soup (ask for it to come with their king prawns!), the vegetable spring rolls (go to the back of the menu to see the vegetarian starters), the chicken green curry, the lamb/duck massaman curry, and of course, the good old phad Thai! Also, every night, the Nipa chef team serves a complimentary started which is changed every night. It's a fantastic place. If you decide to go, can I come?
Went to Nipa to celebrate anniversary and our daughters first birthday and had a wonderful time. The food and service were excellent and we will definitely be going back. The scallops were divine and our daughter really enjoyed the prawn crackers. Having our daughter with us, we timed it just right by booking for as soon as the restaurant opened so it was nice and quiet and by the time we were ready to leave it started to get busier. A lovely, well run restaurant.
Since its refurbishment Nipa Thai has just got even better. I'd prefer not to have to go through a hotel but once there the room is very luxuriously furnished and feels like a place for a special occasion. Food is fantastic - never had a disappointing dish. Very fresh Thai beautifully presented. Brilliantly handy for Lacaster Gate tube too. Great value considering the quality of the whole experience.
My partner and I were in London for a short business trip and used Opentable to find somewhere within walking distance. We were seated at a table at a window over looking Hyde park with views of the Italian garden. The food was delicious, portion sizes were good and the service was commendable.
