In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Kai Haw Bai Toey - deep fried marinated chicken in pandanus leaves, Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai - chicken in green curry soup, also recommended the Nipa platter - a selection of the chef's special Thai starters.

Food average. Two mistakes on the bill at the end once of which was an overcharge for a glass of wine and the second then resulting in the bill going up.

There are many Thai restaurants in London and over the years of visiting London, I have been to quite a few. I would say that this was average - not a bad choice if you are staying at the hotel and don’t feel to head out by tube or taxi for Thai food.
The service however, is s but rough around the edges, which makes it somewhst pretentious.

The staff were great; friendly and flexible when my friend didn't quite realise that when she ordered the salad, it had lots of fried crab on it. They kindly let her order something else and didn't charge us for the 1st dish.
Nice atmostphere and convenient location. The food wasn't particularly special. I'd say you could get a nice meal but there are lots of other places in London that do it a bit better.

Food was great but quality/taste wise was the same as you'd get in less upmarket but good thai restaurant. The ambience and atmosphere made it worth the visit.

I have been going to Nipa for 15+ years. Outside of Thailand there are very few places you can get Thai food cooked this well. Service is excellent, prices are a worth it once you taste the fresh, beautiful flavours

This gem located close to Hyde Park and in the Royal Lancaster London Hotel, was a culinary delight. My wife who is Thai by birth, also thought we found the best Thai food in London, and for me maybe best outside Thailand. The flavors were intricately developed and blended to petfection. The crab salad was perfectly fried n lightly breaded in a "panko" style. The green curry and pork dish was outstanding and delightful. I eould highly recommend this restaurant for all who like asian food or any first timers. Five stars here.

I really enjoy Thai food and this location is good. Lovely attentive staff and lovely decor. Very well presented however for the price of the food I was expecting to be amazed and I wasn't. Tasted as good as other Thai places I had been and much cheaper.
I would recommend going there but only as a one off occassion.

We went to the restaurant for Valentine’s Day. Quick service but food wasn’t that amazing. We ordered some fish cakes that was very chewy and tasted like frozen supermarket fish cakes. We were hoping for freshly made one so very disappointed. Main course wasn’t too bad but again not impressive. It took us a long time from home with an expensive cab fare to get there so honestly not worth the time & money from our experience.

Thai is my favourite cuisine, I have literally been to about 15 different Thai restaurants in London and this is by far the best Thai restaurant. The food was well cooked and seasoned, the service is wonderful. Top top restaurant, will be coming back here again for sure!

Sorry to say was disappointed with the whole experience. Hotel itself feels very old and dated, and not ideal that they had us down for 6:30pm not 8:30pm as per email. Plenty of food and wasnt bad, but not as good as i had expected. Table stuck in the corner and 'Happy Birthday' sung every 10 mins. Was girlfriends birthday also though, but defo not worth the time or effort to get there.

Having ordered a bottle of wine they brought one that had already been opened and was missing about a glass worth of wine. At the end of the meal despite this they did not bring our change despite having charged us 12.5% service charge. Would not return

The ambiance was very nice as was the service....couldn't do enough for us. The two of us had a small bottle of sparkling water, one glass of Sauvignon Blanc (shared), one Papaya Salad, one chef's noodles, one chicken cashew nuts (fair), a fried rice with vegetables. The cost for the two of us was about $91.00...a bit on the high side, but the atmosphere and service were outstanding so all in all a pleasant experience. We would return.
