Grilled Loup De Mer 'Branzino' Sea Bass
garlic & fines herb grilled skin on, browned butter & lemon, sautéed mixed vegetable medley, sautéed french lentils
My vegetarian dish was fine. They were out of chicken and beef stroganoff was recommended. It was bad. Otherwise, as we were in a room by ourselves, nice and quiet.
Outstanding food, service, & ambiance! Highly recommend.
Lovely meal. On the downside, i was charged a service fee and found out after getting home as I had the bill emailed. What was that? It wasn’t the tip. Always feel abused in cases like this and it leaves a bad taste. Otherwise, lovely meal. Just be aware
Dear RichW, Thank you so much for your feedback and we apologize about any miss communication or any surprises. We will be sure to share these notes with the team and hope you will give us another chance in the future. Sincerely, Nirvana Grille Management
Chef and owner Lindsay creates the most flavorful dishes and desserts. We had salmon, halibut and filet mignon. All with delicious side dishes. Thanks, Lindsay were glad you survived the pandemic with a creative take menu and farmers market.
We went early so we could enjoy a leisurely dinner before the Pageant. We did not feel rushed & had great service from Alex. The food was excellent and very tasty. The wontons were just as good as we remembered. We enjoyed splitting the Mud Pie. We liked that it wasn’t huge, just right!
Loved our date night here!
We came to Nirvana Grille having had a great meal there once before, and it did not disappoint. We had tickets to the Pageant that evening and appreciated that the service was prompt and pleasant, not pushy. The food once again was outstanding; our vegan family member appreciated the choices on the menu, and we all agreed that the sweet potato fries appetizer was the best we’d ever had. Nice outdoor seating area despite traffic noise.
The food was good, I ordered a fillet mignon they were out but then came back and said they just needed to cut one. It was a New York, figured I would no know the difference, lol. The inside a bit tattered, defiantly not fine dining. With that said, it was ok.
Nice vibe, great food and personable sever at reasonable price. Will go again for sure
Unbelievably good meal
They were very allergen friendly and understanding. The chef came to speak with us. The waiter was great. The food was delicious. We will likely go back.
It lives up to it’s name

This is a favorite place of ours to eat. The food is always reliably good and thoughtfully sourced. Small plates are available or larger dinners. Both wine and cocktails are available. The owner grew up in Laguna Beach and is very involved in keeping the restaurant vibrant and serving great food.
Good was great. Mushroom ravioli was lovely. Chickem breast with veg quite good. Limited wine and beer list. Service good. Ambiance not so much. Very muggy indoors tables really close together and a kind of ripped up banquette. Not super expensive and $20 parking for all night meant we could walk to Pageant of the Arts which was super convenient.
Food and drinks were great. Service was under staffed... They did a great job, but there just was not enough servers to accommodate the volume of customers.
We had an amazing experience at Nirvana Grille prior to attending The Pagaent of the Masters. Service was slow starting due to shortage in staff (which they were very upfront about). Once our waiter, Alex, came to our table service was outstanding. Everyone on staff appeared to pitching in to help each other-very nice to see!
The food was outstanding and drinks and wine list perfect.
My only complaint was that the restaurant so much too warm. There was no air conditioning, and no way to open the window near our table.
Six of us ate here before the Pageant of the Masters and asked for an outside table. There were no umbrellas so we were staring directly into the sun for an hour. Then they sat a party of three with three huge dogs right behind us, so close that the dogs were hitting the back of my son’s chair. The service was so-so. As was the food. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was so swimming in cream, yet somehow completely flavorless, that I couldn’t even finish it. The only somewhat redeemable part of the meal where the salads. If you stick to that, I guess you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent food and a nice, quaint ambiance.
Excellent fresh food prepared to perfection. Halibut and salmon is excellent. Little noisy with too much wine being devoured at a couple tables nearby but that is a hit and miss thing. Stated it was for an anniversary meal but not recognized by anyone at the restaurant.
Had never been to Nirvana Grille but, after a wonderful experience, will return soon It's great for those attending the 2021 Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters; Nirvana is within an easy walk.
Food was outstanding and our waiter, Alex, did a great job.
Food was great. Lauren; our server, put a touch of warmth & hospitality to an already wonderful meal. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful setting outdoors for a birthday celebration. Terrific service and great food.
Great service, fabulous food, will definitely be back.
Great food great service!
We had a Delicious meal my salmon was excellent
Close by from the sawdust festival
Tables for two very close together… could hear conversations from those seated next to you.
Although we were about 15 min late to our reservation, the hostess was very nice and was able to seat us right away; so, that was a plus and I was very hopeful about my dining experience. However, that experience slowly began going down hill after we sat down. We patiently waited on a server to come by, even made eye contact with a couple servers, but no one came to our table. It wasn't until after we spoke to the couple sitting next to us, who mentioned that they had been waiting for an hour and a half until their main dishes arrived to their table, that a server decided to take our order. That was because the couple next to us had to asked the server to go to our table after he brought out their food. Approximately 20 min after placing our order, we were told that they had run out of a main ingredient for one of the particular dishes we ordered and was given an option of substitution. One would think that we would've been told sooner, but we accepted the situation for what it was. We finally received our food 45 min later.
Overall, it was an okay experience. The place is nice and so is the ambiance. It gets a little loud because the tables are positioned very close together. The food was very good, but I'm not sure if it was because we were just hungry from waiting for so long or if it was actually tasty. Aside from the hostess, the service was not all too great. We also felt annoyed that our server was going a bit overboard on checking in on us to somehow make up for any inconveniences that we experienced thus far. It was unnecessary.
If you got this far into my review, just be wary that your server may automatically try to include a 22% tip charge to your bill.
I don't think I would recommend this place just yet, however, I would visit this place again to give it a second chance to redeem itself.
First time at Nirvana and we loved it! The food, salmon, chicken wontons, salad, cheese bread, and dessert was amazing!
My husband and I visit Nirvana Grille at least once a year on our anniversary. We have always been pleased with the food, service and ambience. We have always sat on the rooftop. Unfortunately, this year tge rooftop was closed, which was a disappointment. We sat at a little secluded table for two outdoors. The food was delicious. The waiter was friendly and helpful. We were a tad frustrated at the end of our meal when our water disappeared for a long time, as we wanted to order dessert and coffee. Finally we just ordered a dessert to go. Another guest informed us that our waiter, for some reason, was the only one left there to wait on tables, as well as tend to the bar. Strange .But, all in all, we enjoyed our dinner and we look forward to returning next July 7. Hopefully the rooftop will be open again.
Great food and owner/chef presence overseeing and pitching in! Wine list has excellent 1/2 bottle list, making food pairing easy!
Although we scheduled an early dinner, they were very busy. I ordered the branzino and my husband had the mushroom ravioli. Our food was fantastic, the fish was light and cooked perfectly. The ravioli we had before and once again, delicious. Our water, Alex, I think was his name was upbeat, friendly and attentive. I began to notice he was the only waiter working that night. He and the hostess were an amazing team, she greeted guests, cleared tables and delivered our food, he placed the orders , made drinks at the bar and cheerfully and calmly took care of every table that evening. So many businesses are struggling to find workers these days so we were impressed to see these two work so effectively. Thank you for taking care of us tonight:)
Food is so delicious! Even on a busy night, the service was excellent.
Wonderful date night atmosphere. Close to beach, theatre and art festival activities.
Alex V. was a terrific and fun server. The small plates were delicious. Garlic bread and glass of wine to start is a must. Ravioli and other small plates were so tasty. Definitely will go back as we love a restaurant that is classy with linen tablecloths and napkins.
Food was good for the most part but service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress was clearly flustered and not with it. We had to seek out the hostess several times to get our orders in and get the check because our waitress was no where to be found. She was apologetic each time but then would continue with the terrible service and ignoring our table. Would not return. However the hostess was lovely.
Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We apologize about this and will reach out to you privately as well. Best, Nirvana Grille Management
Food was impeccable, wine list assortment is always better than other neighboring restaurant and it's a good great spot in town that is often overlooked!
Deeply Disappointed! We have been regular customers for years. But the time before last (a month ago) my steak was overcooked. This last time (last week) the salad was not fresh, the leaves had turned yellow and I showed them to the server.
At the end of the meal, the server was going to give us our checks without the print out. I have had other places make mistakes on my credit card, so I asked to see the entire list of what we ordered. Imagine my surprise when our bottle of wine was NOT on the print out! I called the waitress over and said, "There is a mistake: The wine is not on the charge." Granted, I could have NOT called that to her attention... Instead of thanking me, she said the other waitress had taken our order for the wine -- which was NOT the case. I would have appreciated a simple" THANK YOU!" And maybe even, "I'm sorry!" NO such thing. We used to recommend Nirvana. We will not any longer.
We discovered Nirvana Grille years ago when they were in Mission Viejo. This is the second time we've eaten at their Laguna location and it was fantastic! Everything was top notch.
This place is magical. The food is always fresh and delicious, and you can tell it’s made with care for the diners experience…. Try the goat cheese ice cream it is heavenly, and so is everything else on the menu… enjoy! You will not be disappointed.
Food was really good and interesting. Unfortunately, we had reserved an outside table not realizing there would not be an outdoor heaters so we had a bit of wait for a table inside.
We took friends to Nirvana and they loved it. Cozy atmosphere, great service by Lindsay and the staff and the food was excellent. Great experience!
