Noche Mexicana
We love this place. It's been our go-to for years. Reliably good food and recently improved service.
Still the staff has no idea how to check in an Open Table reservation.
Best Mexican in NYC!
It looks like it's been a neighborhood restaurant for many years. Good food, casual setting and it's a good place to go whether you want a big meal or just a couple of appetizers. Great guacamole!!
The food is ok, but for about the 10th time the staff refuses to acknowledge Open Table reservations. I’ve explained the point system to them, showed my iPhone with the open table app reservation and the waitresses act like they have no idea what I’m talking about. I’ve even got a rude email from a manager disputing this. Anyway, if you care about your points or don’t want a “no show” designation on your account, Save your receipt & send a photo copy to Open Table to correct this after you’re marked as a no show a few days later.
Small mexican restaurant on the upper west side...food was not the best but the decor was ok.Would not go back
The food was great
Food was mediocre. Service was terrible but you couldn't really blame the server. On a Saturday night, they had one server for the whole restaurant.
Once again Noche Mexicana had no idea what Open Table is. The waitress claimed to know nothing about it, even after showing my iPhone screen. I am done with this place. Not worth the sullen service, mediocre food & having to write to Open Table to get my points.
My favorite thing at Noche Mexicana are the enchiladas
Once again the server had no idea what an Open Table reservation is. I spoke w both waitresses, but neither knew how to check reservations.
Our table was as sticky as a candied apple. The food... meh
Excellent fresh Mexican food.
Pretty good Mexican place on UWS. Food, prices & service are good. My complaint is that if you use Open Table & like to accumulate point, Noche Mexicana NEVER acknowledges your reservation. I have showed them the app on my iPhone, mentioned the reservation, & given my name. The staff has no idea how to check in a reservation. If you want to gain your points, wait until your email saying you were a no show, then send a photo copy of your receipt. It's hassle each time.
Go for the food. But don’t expect good service.
Good food & sangria at very reasonable prices. Friendly staff that didn’t rush us through. Quiet enough for conversation. Would return.
Good Mexican food. When mentioning Open Table reservation, the staff never seems to know what Open Table is. The service is good otherwise. Generous portions. The Noche platter is enough for 2 people. Great black beans & rice. Again, if you want to earn your Open Table points, Noche Mexicana's waitresses have no clue on how to check in a reservation & you will be notified by Open Table that you were a "no show".
Great new discovery in the neighborhood. Good food. Pleasant atmospher
Their Mango Margarita's and Tacos were great! Their fajitas were anything but fajitas. The quesadilla was ok. Overall i give them ***
The neighborhood Mexican restaurant once again failed to have any idea what Open Table is. I mentioned my reservation & showed the waitress my phone with the information. She claimed to not know anything about Open Table. This happens every time I've been there. She was the only one working so service was slow. If this wasn't such a close choice, I'd doubt I'd make an effort to go back. Food is ok
Since I wrote this review, I was notified by open table I was a 'no show'. I emailed a photo copy of my receipt & after 2 correspondences, I received my points. I am done with Noche Mexicana!
Authentic. Tasty. Substantial portions. Good prices. The piped in ethnic music was contemporary -- not the old fashioned traditional sound that is common at Mexican restaurants. Not a pretty room, but come for the good food and good value.
Points for open table never seem to show up after dining at Niche Mexicana
The service was terrible, it took them literally an hour to deliver the meals....We were two people and there were only two other tables seated. Then others showed up and we were the last ones served. Even the guests next to us where shocked and we laughed about how ridiculous it was. Food was bland and nothing special. All the photos looked great but the reality was bleak.
They were able to accommodate a last minute reservation for a large group. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not busy. Food was great; drinks were strong. Cost was average at about 30 per person.
Good neighborhood place to go for Mexican food. One thing, the staff is always unaware what Open Table is even after showing them my phone. The points do come through eventually though.
The food here was disgusting. I had steak and my friend had chicken. We had the most difficult time cutting our meats because they were so hard and rubbery. The waiter was also not good at all. We sat there for almost 30minutes before she even came back to ask us if we wanted our check. The restaurant wasn't even busy so I don't understand why we had such bad service.
Late lunch at neighborhood restaurant. Food & service always good except lack of knowledge they're on Open Table
This is a solid, friendly neighborhood restaurant. It was perfect for what we wanted and we'll definitely be back again!
Still unaware of open table system. Good neighborhood place for Mexican food friendly service
Still don't know what open table is
Good neighborhood place for authentic Mexican food. This is 2nd time going using Open Table, staff had no idea what I was referring to; insisted they aren't familiar with Open Table even after showing my reservation on my iPhone .
Good neighborhood place for authentic Mexican food. The staff was not familiar with Open Table, had no idea when I asked if our reservation was confirmed. Otherwise service & food were enjoyable.
Basic and serviceable, but nothing special. Pleasant service and affordable, but there is nothing to go out of the way for here. Just a neighborhood joint that probably is best left for take out.
The spicy guacamole was delicious.
We were very happy with our food. We found it authentic and fresh. The service lacked urgency and the ambiance was less than stellar. If you are looking for good Mexican food without the frills, this would be a good choice.
We arrived for our dinner and ordered classic margaritas. They arrived along with the habitual chips and salsa.
The chips didn't taste fresh, may have come from a bag; the salsa wasn't anything special; the drink forced us out the door!
We looked at the food served to the table next to us and weren't impressed. Nothing special, not worth putting any money down towards.
We were looking forward to this "authentic Mexican" family-run experience and had to go somewhere else to find it.
Maybe there is too much on the menu for this smallish restaurant. Good cold Mexican beer and decent sangria. We ordered the mixed platter, which included a good variety of treats. The mole rojo pork chops were very thin and tough, I'd rather have one good pork chop than two thin over cooked chops.
The service was pleasant and accommodating and the unfortunate store-bought chips were accompanied by a wonderful tomatillo salsa. But it was downhill from there. Chicken in the enchiladas was dry and the chile relleno was disgraceful. The cheese filling was nowhere near melted--ice cold as a matter of fact. The tortillas were of the supermarket variety. Perhaps they were having an off night but the excellent reviews led me to expect much better.
Some of my family members are from Mexico and they feel that the food at Noche Mexicana is authentic Mexican cuisine. The
price is very reasonable and the portions are generous. A great neighborhood place for the upperwest side.
Prices are reasonable but they should be. The atmosphere is not at all appealing and the food was just ok. May go back to try the regional specialties which are hard to find on the back page of the menu.
Really good food at reasonable prices. In addition to the standard American Mexican restaurant offerings, there are more original options for you to try. Definitely worth a visit
