Always an incredible dining experience, from the friendliest staff to the best curry around.
Good food and great service
Very nice restaurant, good Indian food, friendly staff.
A decent mid ranging curry house, nothing stand out to recommend it above the pack, but on the other hand I can't really fault our meals or the service we received on the night. A safe bet if you fancy a curry in the west end
I got there, they said that "only phone reservations are valid" and that website reservations must wait until all walkins have been seated. So we left.
The welcome was abrupt and rushed - the napkin was taken off the table and carelessly placed before I'd finished removing my jacket and sat down. We were enjoying our pre-meal poppadums and sauces when our main order was taken and whilst we were still only halfway through these the main meal arrived. I expressed our surprise and said we hadn't yet finished, whereupon the remaining poppadums were tipped off the main serving plate on top of the food I'd been eating on my side plate and the sauces removed so there was room on the table for the main dishes! The servings were a good size and my butter chicken was tasty. However my husband had order chicken tikka korai and this was disappointing - not much chicken (I had a better helping and so shared mine) and it wasn't all breast of chicken. During the meal no-one asked us if everything was ok. As we left, even though it was not a busy time, no attempt was made to help put on my jacket and no-one came to open the door and say goodbye to us (as is our usual experience in Indian restaurants). All round a disappointing experience.
Fantastic friendly service, fast and efficient. Food was hot, we will certainly return
We went for lunch on a Sunday. We booked for 1pm and turned up within 5 minutes of the booking. I had noted that the restaurant didn't close until 2.30pm, so we should have had plenty of time.
The whole thing was VERY rushed in terms of food. We were told we needed to make our order immediately as they had limited kitchen timings on a Sunday.
We have been in the evening on a Sunday before and it was excellent, but we were really disappointed.
The main turned up as soon as the starter had been cleared (and the starter turned up 5 minutes after ordering. There is a large menu. We ordered 2 totally different curries. Without seeming to be unfair )and having eaten very many curries in our time) we just can't see how they could have been made fresh in 10 minutes flat. It tasted fine, but not amazing.
The main thing was that they were hovering over our table from 15 minutes after our main was served.
I actually couldn't eat much as I felt so rushed. The staff were putting their coats on at 1.30 and leaving.
It was just a real let down as we enjoyed it so much last time. I wouldn't go on a Sunday lunch again (unless you want to turn up at 12.
Great evening will return
Possibly the worst restaurant i have been to in london. Not clean, bad quality food, the service felt like they were doing us a favour eating in what they call a restaurant, its more like a hovel.
Very rushed service - we were done in 35 min!
It feels like they just want you to eat quickly and leave- good if you're off to the cinema but not so good if you want a nice relaxing dinner!
The food was not as good as it usually is.
As usual very good food and the Chateau Talbot a good match
Great food ruined by let's say unhelpful tipping methods. A tip was added as a matter of course, they failed to provide the bill for review and then passed on the card machine for a further tipping option. It looks like a typical (not so astute punter) would end up paying a tip again, compounded of course.... I challenged this process but they passed this off as normal
We had a booking for Sunday night and our table for three was ready when we arrived. I recommend making a booking for any night of the week as the restaurant is small. We started with poppadoms and condiments--delicious! We decided on one chicken entree, one duck entree and one lamb entree for a variety. The Garlic Duck was our favorite with lamb in cream sauce close behind. The chicken tikka masala was very good and would recommend it if you are not sure about Indian cuisine. We had one order of garlic naan and two orders of rice and I would order more naan and a rice for each entree. We enjoyed a nice bottle of red wine with our meal. I rate it as one of the best Indian meals I have had in the Kensington area.
Noor Jahan is located on a neighborhood street--not a busy thoroughfare--and the walk there was most enjoyable.
If looking for Indian good food, his is the right choice. Quick service, friendly staff and good food
There was a lot of added sugar and cream in the food and the helpings were small.
Nothing like a wholesome Indian meal.
I start from the end. When we left the restaurant, a guy, refusing to give us his name and qualifying himself as "the boss", rushed behind us and told us: "don't come back". We asked why and he said: "because you asked to remove the discretionary tip from the bill". Unbelievable! The food at the restaurant is mediocre. In a town like London with thousands of very good Indian options, I would take the suggestion from the boss at the first level! We booked a table at 8:00 pm with Opentable. We arrived on time and waited 20 minutes to be seated. They gave the first available table to other people who arrived after us with no reservation. The waiters were extremely rude. We asked for one beer for two (half a litre bottle...) and the waiter was annoyed. We asked for some mint sauce and the waiter was annoyed. We asked for a glass of water and... same result. You can live with this for an exceptional meal, not for mediocre food. At the end, when I saw that a tip was already added to the bill, I asked the waiter to remove it. Boss, don't be worry, there are no chances you will see us again. To all those who want to taste a great Indian restaurant with a delightful service, there are dozens of options in London. This boss, is a shame for his category.
Great meal! We visited with a large group - service was excellent and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.
The waiter standing behind you and just wait for cleaning the table, not friendly
This was my second time going here, the first time I had great service and was impressed with the food so I decided to take my friend who had never tried Indian food before. I made the reservation at 18:00, consequently when the restaurant opens again for dinner. We show up at exactly 6 PM and got told off because we were "too early" and that " they weren't ready." I am a very easy going person, and said we can just sit and have a drink before ordering, it is no problem for me to wait, I understand that things need to be prepped, but making the customer feel like they are not welcome- not very nice! The attitude of all the men in the restaurant was certainly off putting. They kept yelling and waving their arms around as though we were such an inconvenience being there at our slotted time. If you open at 6, then be there earlier to prep things! do not take it out on the customer. I will come back again because I really love the food, but if service does this again, I am done with you.
This is simply a very good Indian Restaurant. Good food, good service, relaxed ambiance. Nothing stands in the way of an enjoyable meal out. Tables are quite close together, so conversation is quite audible but this wasn't an issue in practice. This is the kind of restaurant that people come back to again and again. It was full on a typical weekday evening. Recommended.
Second visit. I forgot how much food they bring! Could have shared a main along with starters. I had the lamb special dish which was great. Only ding is proximity of tables but it is London.
Best Indian Restaurant in London. Food is always amazing and the service is excellent
Great food , ambiance and service as always !
The food was ok, but nothing special. We weren't rushed, which was nice, but service was awkward. Waitstaff were not very friendly. Overall, with so many other Indian restaurants in the city, we wouldn't return.
The food did not taste fresh it tasted as if it had been made a while back and microwaved. The service was very poor and their English was terrible when my husband asked for some glasses for the sparkling water we had ordered the waiter said sorry sir these are the only glasses that I own!! It's ok if something g like that happens in a miscommunication but that was how it was for the 1 hour we were there.
Great food and ambiance as always !.can't wait to go back.
The starters we had were excellent but the mains were only ok. Good service and cosy atmosphere.
Best Indian food eaten in the UK, without any doubt. Incredibly delicated tastes
Terrible service, angry and rude staff. Tried to over charge me and my family. Food was greasy and oily. Beer was seemed to be watered down. I would not recommended this restaurant to anybody
Really enjoyed. Good Indian cuisine. Great service. Nice atmosphere.
I had a horrible experience with Noor Jahaan. I had a booking at 6 o'clock, arrived 5 mins earlier to find the restaurant locked. At 6:05 someone comes out to tell us in a very rude way to come back at 6.20 and they re not going to be open until 6.30. I tried to tell him that I have a booking for 6:00 he said we re running late. I had to go to the pub next door for drinks until 6.20. So I called back again to make sure they re open. The guy who answered was so rude!! I had to call and cancel my booking!!! Which he didn't even care about or tried to ask why!!!!
We were rushed through our meal at breakneck speed, and waiters kept fussing around our table and the neighbouring one, scooping up dishes as soon as they were empty. We had been looking forward to a relaxed meal. The food was okay, but the haste with which we were served made us feel uncomfortable. We will not go back any time soon!
The food never lets you down; we had to wait a quarter of an hour for our booking. The Noor Jahan is very popular due to the good food and value, so is always very overcrowded, which increases the noise level. That is my only complaint.
If you want to come after 7 pm , it's best to book. Service is very fast , the food will come to your table within 10 minuits of when you ordered.
It's quite a small restaurant , and the he tables are very close to each other.
All the dishes were very nice, the lamb was very tender and tasty .
The waiters were very friendly .
Enjoyable evening, with above average Indian food .
Nice ambience. Good number of vegetarian options. Good amount of wait staff.
Wonderful food, great service and even cooked a dish for me which wasn't on the menu!
Really good tasty food, great atmosphere and friendly service. We would definitely
recommend to anyone.
This is a neighborhood gem for good Indian food. I know many friends who have been going there for years and constantly go back. This was only my third time there, but I can see why they go back. The food is delicious, the welcome warm and the beer cold!
Good food but waiters have a severe attitude and are quite rude. it's a good restaurant... but not good enough for rude and arrogant service. Michelin star restaurants have more customer friendly behaviour than this non Michelin star place.
