Excellent food and service. Great choice of food for gluten free
Always a lovely atmosphere - relaxed, friendly. Food great.
It's not often,if ever that you could describe a restaurant or eaterie as being just about perfect, however No 1 is in this class. My wife and I ate there yesterday (New Year's Eve) and as with every other time we've eaten there we left raving about everything. The food was outstanding, stunning. The Service is absolutely spot on, incredibly attentive and personable staff. The owner(I never seem to catch her name) makes you feel like you're being welcomed back to place that's yours. She really is a huge asset to this place, and her hospitality is evident in her staff too.
This is by a mile our favourite restaurant in Aberdeen. I can't offer enough praise. Thanks.
Excellent from start to finish
The food in Number 1 is always of the highest quality with locally sourced ingredients and fantastic twists on Scottish classics on the menu. I’ve eaten in here many times and never hesitate to book again or recommend it to others. The prices are very reasonable and the service is superb, it’s attentive without being over the top and the staff are always very friendly. As a Coeliac I also have to say the options for Gluten Free (and other intolerances) are incredibly well catered for and almost any dish can be adapted to suit if needed. I cannot recommend Number 1 highly enough.
We had a really nice lunch. The staff was super friendly and food was very good
1st visit to No 1 and it did not disappoint. Excellent food in a great setting.
Today was just for drinks, but food is always lovely. Such a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere. Great for cocktails and relaxing by the bar.
Lovely welcome and a delicious menu as always. Beautifully decorated for Xmas.
We love No. 1, been many times. the food is excellent, the staff are exceptional and the atmosphere is lovely. Will be returning.
Fast friendly service , food very nice Lovely comfortable surroundings .We will return some day .
Food selection and quality was excellent, especially their choice of gluten free options. Felt it was costly in terms of similar restaurants.
Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Enjoyable lunch date. Good food & service. Bit noisy but probably that was due to time of year & day.
Enjoyed the meal but thought it was overpriced.
Steak at £35 with a small portion of veg and chips. Sauce was extra £4. Thought this should have been part of the meal.
Also the plates were very scratchy. Every time my fork touched the plate it squeaked.
My partners food was also expensive for basically a chicken sandwich. Chicken was very dry and lacking in sauce.
As always a delight. Prefect food, service and atmosphere really adding to a great catch up with friends.
Food was delicious, drinks were always topped up, service very attentive and a good time was had by all. Would definitely go back.
Went with a friend for dinner and everything was excellent.
Food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect
Fantastic lunch - food and service both excellent. A bit noisy but it was busy with Christmas lunches and there were a few large groups so understandable!
We weren't rushed out and sat eating and drinking well into the afternoon.
Will definitely be back.
Inviting venue with lovely atmosphere, good service and quality food
3 family members are gluten free and there was only 2 items on the menu they couldnt have, we will be back and will be telling all our gluten free friends to go here
We had a lovely festive meal which was very tasty and plenty of it. Staff were very friendly and efficient . The decor is very nice and the whole place just had a nice ambience. Xmas crackers on our table too which added to the atmosphere.
Lovely food and safe ambience. Will certainly return.
Eaten here many times since it re-opened always superb quality of food, varied menu, attentiveness of staff and nice surroundings.
REALLY GOOD MEAL , FIRST TIME AND WILL BE BACK. STAFF WERE EXCELLENT.
I had heard great things about the restaurant so thought we’d try it for a birthday dinner. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere made it feel very special. The main issues were with our meal. My daughter asked to have the chicken sandwich’s sauce “on the side” but it still came slathered in bbq sauce. She didn’t want to make a big deal about it (or allow us to say anything) so she ate some of it. She wasn’t sure if it was a cultural misunderstanding (does “on the side” mean something different in the UK vs the US?) or if it was a mistake made by the person taking the order or the kitchen. Nonetheless, she wanted us to let it go. I ordered the braised squash. Having not had it before, I’d looked at several recipes online. I thought I’d be getting something more stew-like, not just a chunk of squash. So that I don’t continue to sound like a whiny American, I must say that the dessert was outstanding! My daughter and I both ordered the sticky toffee pudding and I almost licked my plate clean! They were able to make my daughter a decaf vanilla latte and she said it was delicious.
Staff are brilliant, food is delicious, but wouldn't order a sweet, sorry but very overpriced for what you get. Otherwise would definitely recommend No1.
Highlights were the location, parking, environment, service and sticky toffee pudding. Low scores were questionable tattie soup, greasy fish in the fish and chips and really disappointing cheese board. For the cost it should be better.
Our favourite restaurant in Aberdeen. Food is outstanding in quality with exceptional service.
Excellent food and service, best meal we've had in ages, highly recommend finishing with the dessert sharing platter for 2. Also very handy if you are driving as there is plenty of parking right at the door.
Having checked the menu online prior to booking I was astounded by the new prices. It was no wonder it was very quiet on a Saturday lunchtime when it should have been packed. £9.50 for a dessert is ridiculous.
Menu wasn't to my particular liking, so my choice was limited, but that's just me. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very relaxing and cosy. Would definitely go again.
Great place for fine food and a chat. The service and the Staff very excellent too. Will definitely be going back there again.
Faultless in every respect. Staff were friendly and welcoming, food was superb and service excellent.
I had the salmon and my husband the chicken - both were excellent! I’ve recently gone gluten free and there were a bunch of different options for me and the server didn’t make me feel like it was a big deal at all. We will definitely be back!
Love this place, staff lovely food fab my favourite place just now
Had a wonderful overdue catch up with friends, staff were understanding of our chatting that meant they had to come back to take our order. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Food was delicious and beautifully presented
The best dining experience in Aberdeen. No.1 was chosen for birthday celebrations with out of town guests due to their extensive allergen menu. Both myself and mum cannot have dairy or gluten products and it is a rarity to have so many options in once place. The food was amazing from the starter to the dessert. My mum who is used to dining in Edinburgh commented that it was the best meal she has had in years.
Everything was perfection accompanied with beautiful champagne and cocktails.
The sticky toffee pudding is amazing can't believe it was gf/df. The staff take the allergens very seriously whilst not compromising on the flavour.
The birthday surprise was also much appreciated.
Can't wait to visit again for our next special occassion.
Wonderful birthday celebration at No 1 with great food and wines. Birthday boy received a nice surprise from the restaurant as well
The staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. We immediately felt very welcome. Orders for drinks and then food choices were taken relatively quickly, but without being rushed. All three of us had the monkfish dish which was amazing. The sauce was fabulous, the monkfish tender, full of flavour and the purple potato stacks with reds d green cabbage were very enjoyable. They even brought us some focaccia to mop up the amazing Prosecco and caviar sauce.
Scottish hospitality at very best!
We did not feel rushed and enjoyed time to chat and relax. We shall be back! Even the parking was simple and handy. Lovely venue.
Disappointing visit. Waited 20 minutes on arrival for drinks. Menu not very great - 3 of us chose a burger - not what we expected. Soup cold also. Disappointing all around ☹️
