Very nice restaurant within a walking distance to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. We had the lunch menu, which was reasonably priced and tasted delicious! I loved the gin-soaked smoked salmon as the appetizer, and the monkfish cheek as the main dish was very tasty. Honourable mention to the freshly baked rolls!
Still definitely the best restaurant in Glasgow.
Excellent food. Good choice of starters and main courses. Puddings slightly disappointing choice. Friendly staff and good service. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch and set menu very reasonable price.
Very friendly , helpful waiter .
Good food , good fun
Had a great evening. This cosy little restaurant oozes charm. It had a great atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff. The food was incredibly well made with real attention to detail. Pricing was very reasonable. Truly afforadable fine dining.
Excellent meal and drinks as always.
We had a great evening with terrific food and attentive but not intrusive service (excellent advice on wines), would certainly recommend this.
Great food and great service. Kids made very welcome. Would certainly visit again.
Used to go here a lot then felt it wasn’t as good for a while. Delighted to say that it was as good as ever. Fabulous meal, great service and very good value. Will be back.
We were blown away by this restaurant. The food was incredible and the staff there were so friendly it really made the whole evening incredibly special. If we are in Glasgow again we will definitely be going again. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
Amazing food, amazing service. The best food I’ve eaten in an age! Well worth the trip from Ayr and very reasonably priced for the quality. Will definitely be back.
The food was excellent, as was the service. We will definatley be back
this restaurant is a must for people who enjoy very good foodand wine
We had an excellent meal at Number 16, our first visit as a result of a voucher received as a gift.
Our experience was excellent from the start, warmly welcomed and invited to ask any questions about the menu. I have an allergy problem with black pepper and despite this being a difficulty they produced a version of my chosen dish sans black pepper. We will certainly be back.
I'd include No.16 in the top 20 Glasgow restaurants and there certainly aren't many serving up better food.
Excellent food and service - worth a detour and will visit again.
The staff here were very friendly. We were told they were giving us a better table and we were happy to wait a few minutes for that to be cleared. The atmosphere was lovely - all wood and subtle lighting creating a beautifully cosy but classy vibe.
Once seated, we were given good advice on the wine by our server "oh, this one is definitely my favourite" and placed our orders.
A while later we were served some bread rolls which were not entirely fresh anymore. Having finished those, we chatted - and waited. A long while after we'd placed our orders, the starters finally arrived.
We had the scallop and the lamb sweetbreads. The sweetbreads were delicious, but the caramelised onions they were served with were so salty they were barely edible. The scallop was not bad, although slightly overcooked, but well flavoured.
We then faced another long wait for the mains. At some point our server mumbled something along the lines of an apology for the wait, but all in all it took very long for us to get our food.
For mains, we had chosen the oxtail, which was deliciously cooked, but lacked some kind of sauce to tie it together with the vegetables; and the monkfish tail, which was very good (although again, oversalted).
By the time we were deciding on dessert, we were quite full, despite the small-to-medium portion sizes (probably a result of the long wait). We shared the Chocolate and Blood Orange Pave, which turned out to be a large cylinder of very dense chocolate mousse filled with blood orange sauce. It was very tasty, but incredibly rich and filling - this would have been too much for just one of us!
On the whole, we had a lovely evening, the food was quite good, and the atmosphere had been excellent.
Wonderful little niche restaurant with Scottish inspired gourmet cooking at reasonable prices in the cute Finneston neighborhood. Friendly staff, but plan to arrive on time as there is little waiting space and they plan to serve customers exactly at their reserved times.
Excellent food as always. Cosy and intimate. Great service. One of our favourite places.
Fantastic food , excellent service, been going to this restaurant for years , just love it.
Simply wonderful little place. Really good food and excellent service. Loved everything
This restaurant never fails to amaze me. The food produced from what must be the smallest kitchen in the business is incredible. Once again my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed an exquisite lunch, served by two young and pleasant servers, both very knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Well done again No.16 !
We shall return.😊
Great food and service and super nice about allergies
This was a spur of the moment booking the night before, for the remaining pre-theatre table on a Friday night. This was our second time visiting number 16.
The synopsis: a wonderful dinner in every way. Friendly staff, bubbly atmosphere, attractive menu, top cooking and a decent wine list. I even wandered down to the kitchen to wax lyrical to the chef about the sweetbreads.
These guys are setting the benchmark for dining on Byres Road (and beyond)
One of the best restaurants in Glasgow -- fantastic service, atmosphere, and food. Every course was impeccable, as was the recommended wine. Perfect for a special occasion, or just a nice night out with friends.
The restaurant is quite small but has a nice atmosphere. The service was excellent. My starter of artichoke and thyme soup tasted nice but it was at best lukewarm although small sections were boiling hot-it had obviously been inadequately heated through in a microwave. The main course of duck was again very tasty but the portion of duck was paltry. Overall not a great experience.
Very excellent relaxed service. We have now been about 4 times. Any time we are up in the city for the weekend it is defo our hotspot.
It's been quite a while since we last ate here but it was as good as ever! An interesting menu, fabulous food and great service. Highly recommend this small gem on busy Byres Road.
Although the food here was delicious, the waiter that served us was quite arrogant which spoiled the evening a bit. This has put me off either recommending this restaurant to friends or coming back here myself.
Excellent food good service will be returning and recommend to friends. Reallygood overall.
Excellent food as usual. Fantastic service, looking forward to going back
Simply wonderful little gem....
Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food is very well presented and incredibly tasty.
When we come back to Glasgow we will certainly make a point to return and highly recommend it to anyone.
Number 16 was a good choice for meeting up with old friends visiting Glasgow. Typical friendly west end bistro with excellent often locally sourced food. Despite the strict "table back in 2 hours" policy on the booking site, on a Monday there was no pressure to reclaim our table at 9.30 so we had an enjoyably leisurely meal and time to indulge in the good desserts.
Very enjoyable experience, the food served on the plate was better than the menu description
Excellent service, with an interesting menu. The meals were delicious and the small size of the restaurant makes for a cosy atmosphere.
Having not eaten here for some time we decided to give it another try. We were not disappointed as the food was excellent and the staff extremely friendly.
The chicken liver parfait with granola was delicious as were the other starters that my wife and friends had. Both the monkfish and halibut main courses were superb and the heritage potato side to die for! Needless to say, the puddings did not let the side down with the deconstructed white chocolate and peanut cheesecake just hitting the spot and the blood orange pave quite magnificent.
We’ll definitely be back sooner than later.
Great food with excellent service - when the Scots get service right it is first class
It was the first time I have eaten at No16 and it was amazing! the food was great and the service was super nice! It's definitely on the list of my favorite places in Glasgow! Also great ambiance (not too causal not too formal) - perfect for a date or a special occasion. Will recommend it to all my friends!
Been to Number 16 many times and keep on returning. Amazing food every time and a lovely atmosphere. Excellent service and staff are helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!
