In 2010, Number 16 was awarded an Eat Scotland Silver Award and won best restaurant in the 'Smart But Casual' category at the annual Glasgow Restaurant Awards.
Enjoyed a fabulous meal at No.16 on Saturday 16th November. The restaurant is very compact but tastefully decorated and the friendly staff are extremely efficient and welcoming.
The quality of the food could not be faulted this is fine dining almost to Michelin star quality, in addition my partner who is vegetarian was very pleased with her dishes which cannot always be said of fine dining establishments.
My venison main course was excellent but becomes a little pricey when you add on the side order of deep fried potatoes which I felt were a necessity not an extra. The milk chocolate parfait dessert with gooseberries and strawberry foam was an exceptional finale.
I can thoroughly recommend No.16 for a special occasion meal.
What a fantastic meal in a cosy yet elegant setting. I've loved this restaurant for years. It never fails to impress. The food was faultless. The waiting staff were great too. I'll be back VERY soon
I would definitely recommend Number 16 Restaurant. Food is delicious and service is excellent.
Food excellent and service helpful, friendly and unobtrusive. Will go back, soon
My wife and I our lunch at Number 16, we can’t believe we haven’t been back since our last visit. We certainly won’t be leaving it as long between visits this time.
Our second visit to Number 16 and we were just as impressed as last time. Fantastic relaxed service with excellent knowledge of the food and wine recommendations. We love this place and are so happy to have it as a neighbourhood restaurant. Interested menu and the quality of the produce, exciting flavours and attention to detail makes this place a solid choice for an excellent night out. We went with family this time but also a great cosy place for a date to impress. Please don’t change a thing!
Excellent meal in pleasant surroundings. Very busy for a Sunday even which must be a good sign. Second visit and we will be back. Thanks.
lovely experience yet again, relaxed atmosphere but with great service and great food.
For our first visit in four years and our first as part of a group, I was a little apprehensive that standards may have slipped since our last time here. I needn't have worried as absolutely everything about it was as I had hoped. When I looked at the menu I was initially a little anxious as there were none of the safe dishes that I gravitate towards every time I go to a restaurant, but this was a very good thing as I was nudged out of my comfort zone and loved every morsel. All four of us ate every bit of what was served to us over three courses, so clean plates all round! Portion size was ideal, meaning we all looked forward to the next course but were happily full by the end of the meal. Service was informal, friendly and prompt and the staff were all great ambassadors for the restaurant. It is no surprise that Number 16 routinely appears at the top of "best restaurant" lists all the time - including, I believe, being in Top Table's own "Top 10 Restaurants in the UK, 2019" list. It's impressive that they have maintained such a great reputation over so many years, but once you've tried it you will understand why.
Friendly staff, good food. Very small so need to book in advance but worth the effort
My partner's favourite restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and interesting menu with lots of different tastes. Great restaurant for a romantic meal out for two.
Lying between a bookies and a kebab shop lies a slice of heaven. Small, cosy and intimate, No16 serves some of the best food around. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and in no way overbearing. Never felt waiting, and breaks between courses were spot on. Not the best selection of beers or ciders if you’re not a wine drinker, but did not takeaway from a near perfect experience!
Delicious food, fantastic service and lovely little restaurant. Couldn't fault it.
Friendly greeting, excellent food choices, very well presented and extremely tasty. Good wine list. Professional service. We all loved our visit and look forward to returning.
Beautiful food. Lovely experience. Will be returning.
Wonderful memorable evening at this intimate restaurant . Everything perfect - interesting and beautifully executed food. Service friendly calm and competent Atmosphere perfect .
Absolutely delicious and catered well for coeliacs. Desserts were divine! Thank you for a lovely evening.
Had a great meal here in this wee restaurant - starters and mains were very well executed and presented; great flavours and presentation. We had the rabbit and burrata, followed by the venison and ox cheek special, and there was plenty else on the menu that also looked tasty. The desserts (white chocolate mousse and passion/coconut torte) were both nice but not quite as excellent as the other courses. Wine list was good, with plenty of choice, and the service was very smooth and professional. Will definitely be back.
The food was amazing and the ambiance was great. Perfect spot for couples. We enjoyed all of the food, from the duck pastrami starter to the Dark Chocolate and peanut butter fondant. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Glasgow.
Great food, well priced and exciting wine list, helpful nice staff all in a lovely environment. One of the best meals I have had in Glasgow.
Excellent meal amazing flavours and food was beautifully presented.
A special lunch for my special man. It was quiet at 2pm and thus service was impeccable. Very friendly and food loved up to the quality I remembered from a couple of years ago.
Although it was quiet in the restaurant probably because our table was booked for towards the end of the lunch period (2pm) we enjoyed having the full attention of both the waiting and kitchen staff. The food was outstanding and the service exemplary.
In hindsight, we would have passed on the olives and Parmesan shortbread, although both were delicious, as they were quickly followed up by the most amazing home- baked rolls (wholemeal sourdough ...amazing) and flavoured oil. The mushroom arancini with mushroom ketchup was superb and celeriac and apple soup given similar plaudits. The main course hake was accompanied by the most flavoursome pepper purée, fennel and samphire. We did not have room for desserts and were not pressurised at all and given time to savour our wine and coffee. This was our first visit and we will definitely return to this fabulous restaurant!
This was a gem to find in Glasgow. Nice intimate location with friendly staff and delicious food!
Fabulous food, served by friendly and attentive staff. The owner also took time to chat.
We had the set lunch menu and left completely satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food served.
We no longer live in Scotland but when we are back in Glasgow we try and visit No. 16. One of the best restaurants in the city in my opinion.
Food and service is always amazing. Very little to fault about any aspect of it.
Excellent restaurant experience. Food and atmosphere were superb.
We haven't been here for a while but as usual it was lovely - great food and pleasant service. We were downstairs on a cold day and it was a little cooler than ideal inside, but I realise that the upper floor must get very hot, so hard to please everyone. My only other caveat was that 2 of the three of us had soup and dessert as our 2 course meal, one because of recent illness. It is hard to believe that this is worth £18 because I suspect had we bought these from the a la carte menu, they would have cost less. But it was a birthday and we enjoyed the food and the experience!
After writing this, I was contacted by the restaurant who pointed out that this bill was a mistake and offered a refund or voucher, with a little extra - full marks!
nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and wonderfull food
It has been a long time since we visited this little gem as had moved out of the city. We will certainly not leave it as long to return.
It was my birthday & the 3 of us returned all our plates without a morsel left on them except my sweet as the texture of the main component was not to my liking.
The Australian Shiraz on offer was superb and went down all too easy!
When the bill came the waitress had taken the cost of my sweet off. Not necessary but we appreciated the gesture.
I would highly recommend No 16 to all. It is unpretentious & relaxing while serving 5Star fare.
We had a lovely special birthday meal at Number 16. The food was really very good and the service was attentive without being too much. The setting is intimate with lovely decor. It wasn't inexpensive at over £100 for 2 people (£120 with tip) but the portions were a good size and we had 3 courses. I will definitely be back.
Really enjoyed this dining experience. Very small and cosy restaurant. As long as you don't mind being a bit hemmed in you can really enjoy the food. Service was good and can recommend it.
Excellent all around!. Welcoming, friendly, shown directly to table, excell3nt service, outstanding food and wind, would go again in a flash aprt from the fact that it’s so far away from home. Top marks all round.
By far the best meal I have had this year! I love, love this little restaurant and it is pretty small, however , the food speaks volumes! So happy to have found number sixteen, which I wholeheartedly recommend you try and yes I will most definitely be going back, hopefully very soon. ❤️
While the quality of food is great, the quantity isn’t. A small measly bread roll to begin with, along with a petri dish with a few drops of oil doesnt really do it.
It wasn’t particularly busy for a Saturday afternoon, but the service was somewhat slow. 20-30 min wait time between starters and main. A heads up from the server of the quantity of food would have been appreciated, as that would have determined how many sides to get (which for sides, are somewhat pricey for the quantity).
Also, if you’re going to clear the empty dishes off the table, clear them all. Don’t take half of them then come back 5-10 minutes later to clear the rest. Checking up on your guests is also a must. Don’t wait until we have to ask for adiitional things, like wanting more water etc. Either leave a jug of water on the table or fill the glasses up when walking past tables.
Really good food and friendly staff. The venison was lovely.
Best meal in U.K. all week
Our favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Consistently good for food, service, ambience and value for money.
One of our favourite restaurants. Great food and very good service
Really fantastic food in a lovely environment. A real treat.
