Oak & Vine at Springside
Quaint restaurant in Owasco Lake. Food was delicious but the service left a little to be desired. If not for the sweet, attentive hostess it would have been a much different rating. One of our orders was completely forgotten. The rest of the table had almost finished eating by the time he got his steak( which by the way was very under cooked from what he ordered). The waiter never checked on us or offered us refills. But the lovely hostess,Anna, came to our rescue again. Guessing the young man was just having an off night. My friends and I can make fun out of any situation. So alls we’ll that ends well.
Had a great Time and a great meal. Christy was extremely helpful. Couldn't possibly have been a better 25th Anniversary dinner. We were even able to take a picture of us seated where my grandparents had been for their 60th anniversary almost 40 years ago. Thank you!
Great service and food. It was a very busy evening, but our server was attentive, informative and drinks, apps and dinner arrived in a timely manner. Dessert was excellent also.
Lovely quiet restaurant with nice ambience, great food and service. We will definitely come back when in the area again.
Our server was excellent and the chicken cordon blue sandwich was great.
We were going to see a play and they made every effort to get us out on time They offered to pay for our drinks as they were running late
Wonderful food, service, and environment. Great attention to detail.
First time here and we loved it. Dinner was fantastic, reasonably priced, and service was great considering how busy they were. We stayed overnight here and the sunday brunch the next morning was just as fantastic. Great choices and the food was fresh and hot.
Staff was very friendly but it took 20 minutes to get our first drink order! Steak was cooked perfectly as the waitress promised it would be!
Food was very good. Good prices. Service was friendly but a little slow. Will definitely go again.
Excellent service. We informed our waitress that we were attending an 8:00 show. She made sure our order was placed-timing was perfect, enjoyed our appetizers & entrees, not rushed! It was great & will definitely return.
We stopped and had a drink at the bar first. Bar tender was great. I had checked in with the hostess who was very friendly. We got seated at a nice table. Our waitress was OK. She was very obviously rushed and not rude, but maybe curt is the right word. The food was OK. My parents got burgers and they both enjoyed them quite well. My fiance got the brushetta shrimp pasta and in my opinion, that dish was way over priced for pasta with a few shrimp. He said it was lacking in flavor. I got the baked haddock and was completely disappointed. The "light dijon sauce" was more like a thick mayo and it was all over the haddock. It seemed like the fish would've been good but I'm really not a mayo girl and couldn't get past it. The rice was certainly not a "pilaf". It was like Uncle Ben's microwave in the bag and dumped out in big clumps on my plate. The asparagus was good. We couldn't find the waitress to leave our cash bill with and I didn't want to leave that amount of cash on the table, so I gave it to the owner, who was extremely friendly. Overall, I do love going to Oak & Vine, this is just a little constructive criticism. Maybe you do something with it, maybe you don't.
We would like to see a more extensive menu. What happened to the wedge salad? Always love Springside!
Our service staff was wonderful...courteous and personable. There was a large party celebrating a birthday which contributed to a higher noise level, but this is common in many restaurants on a Saturday evening. I enjoyed the fried haddock with amazingly HUGE very tasty shrimp...soooo good. My husband had the salmon which was tasty, but did have a very cold spot in the center. He ate around it. Overall, it was a nice evening out! Thank you!
We had a lovely evening - the waitress was very friendly and right on top of everything, the atmosphere was so inviting and the food was done perfectly and delicious. Will definitely be back and recommend to our friends .
Appetizer - Mozzarella Parm was great. However, Menu did not match on-line menu. Salad had way too much vinegar. Entrée - Wild Mushroom Pappardelle with Chicken was OK not great. I would have preferred chicken chunks incorporated into the dish instead of one large piece on top. Very bland flavoring to this dish. Dessert was great, wine selection was good. Overall just not that great especially for Valentine's Day. Was not crowded but the table set-ups are poor. I was too far apart from my date. They did allow us to turn the table sideways to get closer. I would not return, I think there are better local options for the price.
Thank You for your feedback. We will address these issues with our kitchen staff. We appreciate your review because this will only help us to improve. In regards to seating, a lot of our tables are four tops unfortunately, which makes it difficult on nights such as Valentine's. The smaller tables get booked up quick for two tops. Again, we thank you for your time and hope you will consider us again some time in the future.
We were happy with our meal and service. The staff is very hospitable and their wine selection is very good.
Cocktails at the bar were exceptional as was our bartender.
Our waitress, Janet, was very friendly and a pleasure to have serving us. She responded to our every need.
Will come back.
The food was great at a reasonable price. Our waitress was super sweet.
The service was lovely, although I found the quality of the kids menu items to be very commercial as compared with the dinner menu items. House-made fries (looked and tasted much like McDonalds) would be preferred, as would house-made mac-n-cheese (not boxed). We hoped the food quality of what our child ordered would match that of the main dinner menu to some degree.
My wife & I had dinner at Oak & Vine on 8/31 and absolutely love it. Service was wonderful, food was outstanding. My wife has allergies to both gluten & dairy and they catered to her needs; she said it was the best Filet Mignon she has ever had. I had the linguine & clams and throughly enjoyed that. Highly recommend.
We had drinks in the bar area before dinner. Great bar tender. Dinner in the dining room was most pleasant. The waitress was sweet and atttentive. The food was delicious. Every employee that we came in contact with was most cordial. Great place to spend an evening with friends.
Service was okay; food was good. We confirmed our reservation by phone, but it wasn’t honored when we arrived, and then handled very poorly. The dining room is very loud with poor acoustics. Hard to enjoy the meal at all. Won’t go back.
Our waitress, Tess as well as the Hostess and wait staff, were very pleasant and accommodating. There were six of us and three had special dietary needs. The cook staff did not miss a beat on those dietary needs. It was a wonderful experience.
Springside Inn has been a part of my life since childhood. Many special occasions have been celebrated there. Dining there brings back fond memories for me.
The food and service was excellent. The other reviews had us concerned but the service/ wine / food was just excellent.
Sat on deck, waited 90 min for dinner due to large party busy kitchen. Had a 7:30 play, dinner arrived at 7:10. Staff knew of our time limitation. They did give 2 vouchers for poor service
Five ladies gathered for fun dinner before going to show at Playhouse; our whole experience was fantastic.
On my reservation form (for 6:30) I noted that we would be going to a play that started at 8 pm. We arrived at 6:15. We told the server who took our drink AND dinner orders at the same time, that we were going to a play. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks (3 glasses of wine) and an additional 30 minutes for our food (2 salads and 2 hamburgers). Thus we had to rush through dinner and one of our companions was unable to finish hers. Lots of apologies. No action. This is not an anomaly at Springside. It has happened before and our group has decided not to return.
Beautiful location with so much potential. Seated right away inside. They could not accommodate us outside even though there were available tables. Once we sat down no one acknowledged us for 40 minutes so we went to the bar to order a cocktail and brought it back to our table. Still no one came to take our order. We came at 6 and had theater tickets for 8:00. They finally took our order at 7:00. Our wine never came so we went to the bar again. Meal cam out about 7:30 (pizza and salad). No dressing on the salad and it was like someone had dumped a bag of lettuce on my plate. Pizza was not quite done. Staff was nice but just clueless. No one seemed to be in charge that night .Dont think there was a manger on duty. Bar tender was super embarrassed and very accommodating. I honestly have never had such bad service.
They may have been short staffed but there were only 5-6 tables with customers indoors. Very disappointing . It felt like we were invisible . You could tell everyone felt the same way. And no explanation ever given.
We were seated upon arrival. Food was good, soup could have been warm but was very flavorful. Salad was good, as well.
The food was great! Had clams as an appetizer and even though I enjoyed the creamy sauce, I did miss the garlic sauce they used to have. For an entree I had the salad with salmon and the salmon was delicious. I would definitely have that again. Overall it was a great dining experience.
The food was very good and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The porch is a great place to enjoy the summer.
Food was very good. Restaurant was noisy. While the server was polite, knowlegeable and friendly, she has too many tables to handle and as a result, we found the service a bit slow...
Really enjoyed our first time at Oak and Vine! We will definetly be coming back!
I came early so it was just myself for the first half hour. This was “burger night” which is what I ordered. The burger was cooked to perfection and was flavorful. The wait staff was friendly and eager to serve. Excellent experience.
Oak and Vine has never let us down. Beautiful setting great overall experience. It's everything you would expect after driving in and seeing how nice it is. Goo staff that is knowledgeable good food selections all around . Really nice experience.
The Oak and Vine at Springside is one of those out of the way gems. The food is great and there are several options for dinner. Prime Rib night has got to be the best deal around.
John the bartender (and our server) always makes the best recommendations for drinks and wine and will talk up new beers they're serving. Lots of parking and the ambiance is really nice in summer and winter.
It was our first experience for a meal. I had previously attended two events in the attractive "event" rooms. We went for Sunday brunch and were led into a very large, very plain room with white walls. There was no decor at all. There were people at two or three other tables. We were not allowed to order off a menu. The only option was a $19.95 buffet. Neither of us can eat that much food! We quietly asked the server if was okay to simply leave. She said that was okay. She was very nice about it. We won't go back.
We have been here several times when we are in the area and they have also catered events for us. Nice atmosphere, lovely Waite staff. Menu is limited but everything taste great!
