Old Ebbitt Grill
Food not great.
Favorite place in DC to eat! Always great food and service.
Birthday brunch was excellent
Crab cake was best!!
Reservation is neccessary for convenient
This was the second visit to Old Ebbitt during DC trip. We ordered off the brunch menu. Unfortunately, my first dish arrived cold. Server was quick to address it, and had a replacement dish prepared and served promptly. The second dish was definitely better, however, still disappointing, especially since it was recommended as the top brunch dish (crab cake Benedict). We ate lunch earlier in the week and it was much better. For future reference, I suggest going for lunch in lieu of breakfast/brunch, at least based on our experience.
Hair found in salad. Told server, she brought another, but no real apology or offer to take anything off the bill or comp any item. Didn’t offer to get the manager. Food was not hot as it should be. Don’t think we will return. Disappointed as we had our if town guests with us and didn’t want to make a big deal of it in front of them.
Food was amazing- every egg was perfectly cooked. Brioche french toast was phenomenal. Staff catered to children for brunch, anticipated needs.
it was awesome experience. i found the restaurant and booked before a month. when i ate the entree, i feel something harmony. i fully recommend this restaurant if you had not been here.
When my husband and I visit DC, Ood Ebbitt is a must. Love the oysters.
Service was excellent. It was nice to be able to go online to reserve a table. The noise level was at a moderate level where you could still hold a conversation.
Everything was great! Definitely recommend this place!!!
This is a classic restaurant, service is always perfect, atmosphere is fun, and vibrant, especially on the weekends! No complaints.
We came for a birthday and Tomas, our waiter, made the experience so wonderful!! He made the best recommendations and really took care of us all night. Excellent drinks, food, and definitely save room for the Blondie a la mode (per Tomas’ recommendation).
Excellent food, excellent service! Would definitely go back.
My husband and I took several family members for lunch. My brother in law specifically was interested in oysters and was not disappointed. The crab cake and lobster appetizer were also great.
Our waitress, Jenny, was helpful with questions about the menu and totally engaging. We loved her!
In my opinion, one of the best places to eat in DC. Service is excellent. The food is wonderful. The decor and ambiance is exciting. It is a bit noisy but we had no trouble carrying on a conversation in our booth. The Old Ebbitt screams "Washington, DC !" for me and I love it!
Thank you Alexis for the excellent service! We arrived as a party of 4 adults and 2 small kids in a double stroller, whole staff was very accommodating in helping us find a home for the stroller, even though the restaurant was busy. Alexis was very engaging and made our kids laugh, food was terrific as always. Thanks OEG!!!
Great food and atmosphere. Excellent value for money. Must visit DC institution.
Nice restaurant, we have been there before when we visit Washing D.C. or when I have been there for work.
This meal was good but not as good as we have had in the past and definitely not as good as the meal we had at their sister restaurant Clyde’s a few days before.
It was extremely crowded since the Capital was celebrating 50 years since the moon landing and I think everyone had the same idea to have dinner there before walking over to the Washington Monument.
We had the summer rice bowl and the roasted chicken with the artichoke appetizer. The artichoke appetizer was exceptional, very nicely done and great flavor. The chicken was great as well, very flavorful but the sides were only ok. The summer rice bowl was good.
Wanted to have the peanut butter pie but we skipped it due to the longer than expected wait, even with a reservation. The peanut butter pie is worth a trip here regardless, it is excellent. Next time we will pick an off time for our meal so we can make sure we get the pie, even though our reservation was for 9:30.
I would still go back and I definitely recommend it!
Great food, lives the bar and service was excellent.
Overrated, and rather meh. Oysters were fine, calamari was fine, crab linguini was bad and oddly soupy, steak, salmon, burgers, dessert were all just okay. Crowded and loud and nothing more than an ornate-ish dining room really. A bit of a tourist trap, and cafeteria for folks who work in the various government offices all around. Doesnt merit a special visit.
Beautiful hotel and great ambience. Had dinner reservation and went again for breakfast after White House tour. Loved both days. Will return when I’m DC
A fun energetic place to visit. We went for lunch and it was very crowded. Be sure to make a reservation! Crab cakes were very good.
Great place for a business meeting. We weren’t rushed at all
We had a great diner with our 3 children’s, all plates were empty at the end ! Nice place to go
Oysters are delicious. Not overly expensive considering it's history and proximity to the White House. Great bar!
Old Ebbitts was a favorite of mine from the beginning of my work career. I was in the Press Building and we would walk the short distance to F street around the corner from where it’s located now. Liked the food and loved the atmosphere. So glad they brought the carved wooden bar when they moved. Food still good and not overpriced for the area. Didn’t sit at bar but would like to next time. Servers were friendly and attentive.
BEST place to get oysters on the half shel! Still as good as when I went in the 80’s
We were in DC for the JLO concert. We were SUPER EXCITED as we were staying at the intercontinental and had the day/night planned. I was very disappointed as our waiter was very rude. I choose this restaurant and was embarrassed by how our server was acting. Next time we will spend our money elsewhere.
Everything was delicious. The crab cakes are a splurge but worth it! Our server was also so helpful and so friendly.
Highly recommended! Classic experience! Any DC visitor should try out Ebbitt at least once
Honestly, if I'm accompanying out of town guests and we find ourselves downtown, the OEG it is. I like to give them a real DC experience. We were seated right away. Friendly hosts. Good table service.
Got there 2 1/2 hours before reservation but they got us right in. Exceptional crab cakes!
The Crab Cake is a must! 🦀 service was very friendly and kind to suggest a drink pairing
Delicious crab cakes. Nice atmosphere. Glad I tried it.
Was told to eat here, and they were correct. Great ambiance and character, food was great also.
My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch while visiting Washington D.C. I ordered a cheeseburger and he ordered the Smoked Pulled Pork sandwich. The burger was juicy and delicious, and my boyfriend loved his sandwich as well.
Overall a nice experience, food& service were both good, my complaint was how they seated us. While we had a 11am reso, they put us in the back dining room, that’s okay, but what they did was put us at a table for 4 , there were 5 of us. We had a child with us and they thought it was okay to add a chair to the end of the booth, “the child can sit there “Not okay, it was in the line of fire as the servers walked back and forth. There was a table further in the back that could have accommodated us and wasn’t sat until about 5 minutes before we left~ Shame, shame, shame.
Always good no matter the time of day. Have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always the best.
Old Ebbitt is a must see in DC. I have been there many times. Problem with my dinner was server pushed two "fresh" fish entrees which were not very good. Especially the salmon, it was pasty.
