Old Mill Toronto
Second sitting was a disaster. 30 minutes late to be seated, fresh food brought out to the buffet after most people had started dessert, dessert was sparse. Won’t be back.
The food was unimpressive. I was disappointed in the selection and they should consider offering plastic gloves for the serving spoons etc. Some of the handles were sticky and filthy.
Definitely not worth the money!!!! After tax and tip, Almost $70 for brunch and ONE mimosa!!!! Ridiculous.
We had a lovely lunch at the Old Mill. My two grandchildren love being able to pick and choose exactly what they want to eat. Service was just attentive enough without being overbearing. Overall we love to come to the Old Mill for special occasion lunches.
Went to Old Mill for a milestone birthday celebration. We enjoyed ourselves. The food selection was ok for the price. I really enjoyed the short ribs. The lamb was incredibly dry. In terms of seating, the space was quite vacant but we were placed right were the most amount of foot traffic was occurring. Our waiter was great, very intuitive and attentive.
Firstly, we went for brunch, the food selection was very good, the tables setup was good with enough space between them, the interior nicely decorated but the lighting was adequate only for the tables close to the windows (which are just few placed in the enclosed terrace).
Secondly, the brunch doesn’t have any type of drinks included in its price and the mimosas are $14/glass so I suggest to get a bottle of prosecco instead that is around $40.
Lastly the service was good, only the server we had seemed too formal for my liking, didn’t talk at all, I had the feel that he didn’t enjoy his job much and he just performed his duties in order from his mental list.
The service was great, the meal was terrible,,salad had too much dressing (vingerette),,the chicken was small, was tender but nothing that I couldn’t cook better at home,,rice not great, in fact didn’t eat it,28,00,I know not expensive but too me it was still a waste of money
Hotel is fabulous but the restAurant isn’t ,,but the 2 aren’t connected I know,,
The entertainment Fiddlestix was excellent, I d love to see them again. I’ll definitely be coming back to The Old Mill. We really enjoyed the food and service, it was a wonderful night out.
Coming here three times for my birthday and for baby shower - never got disappointed. Very nice place, you must go to Old Mill.
Should look around the venue to look for better table locations and request for transfer as this was what we realized. Overall though the food was just tight for the price.
Went for buffet lunch to celebrate seventh wedding anniversary. Very nice people working there. Food was o.k, nothing special. Atmosphere was great. Lots of people.
It was very nice to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary at The Old Mill, the place we were married back on September 18, 1999. Our only complaint is that our waiter (Mansour) let us each order a dessert before he presented us with our complimentary dessert (with a lovely "Happy Anniversary" message written in chocolate). It felt like a sneaky way to increase the amount of our bill. Had we known we were getting a free dessert, we would not have ordered off the menu.
Both times I have gone to the Old Mill Restaurant have been outstanding. Brunch was amazing, food was on point! Dinner was awesome, no complaints. The décor makes it feel like your in another country in Europe!
I expected this Buffet to be pretty great but didn't expect it to be as amazing as it was! The selection is very good and I didn't taste a single item that wasn't excellent. Somehow even the eggs benedict tasted as if it was plated for me instead of on a Buffet, which I know is very difficult for this item in particular.
Our server seemed a little rude, especially towards the end of service, which was odd. That being said, we interacted with probably 4 other staff members during our stay and everyone else was absolutely excellent, so he may have just been having a bad day.
Entertainment is excellent, but you should increase the choice of the menu, we always found the same 4 kind of main dish for years. Hopefully someone will change on this, you should increase the portions, too.
Food and ambiance were excellent. A wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary having been married at the Old Mill forty years ago!
While the food tasted great, there were limited menu options and the price was too high. We reserved a table for two at 6 pm (as no earlier reservation times were allowed), and we were told that the patio was an option, however, when we arrived, we were told that the patio was closed - and we were the only ones in the entire dining room! Moreover, the A/C was blowing on us (but it later changed to heat).
Absolutely amazing. It is just well organized and the breakfast was delicious.
The food and the service was amazing. Keep the good work
Great venue, food was great; service was so-so.
I had the lunch buffet which was incredible. Great selection of meat, fish, entrees. Fish table Salad table and desserts. Very enjoyable. Service staff went out of their way.
The waiter was not in his best mood. We didn’t get napkins, nor water and we had to go to him instead of him coming to our table. Everything else including the food was wonderful
Sunday Dinner Buffet $40.(for food only) +tax +tip. Food was fresh & flavourful. Love the variety of food choices! Smoked mackerel, mussels, pickled herring, prime rib, lamb, butter chicken, beef stew, fish dish, cheeses, so many salads, flavourful rice, mashed potatoes, fruit, chocolate fountain served with marshmallows, pineapple, strawberries. Service unobtrusive but a bit slow. Some inconsistencies in the Aperol Spritz Italian aperitif method of serving between the bar & the restaurant (the latter came with no ice & was served in a small champagne flute from restaurant server). Asked Luigi for the ice that this aperitif is supposed to be served with & it took quite a while to be brought to us. Areas for improvement: The chocolate fountain was decadent but we would’ve liked a semi-sweet dark chocolate option instead of the very sweet milk chocolate used. Altho the roast lamb was good, they had no mint jelly or mint sauce or gravy to go with it. It’s good value if you can eat lots! We loved the old English antique feel of the Old Mill dining room!
Ambience is amazingly appealing. Great service and food selection is great.
This is a lovely place. The setting is in a very pretty part of town, and the dining room is very comfortable. Great service from the wait-staff, and we really enjoyed the buffet lunch. It featured a selection of delicious food. I look forward to our next visit. Thank you, Old Mill!
this is a fabulous sunday brunch, something for everyone. The best scones that i have had in years.
[SUNDAY BRUNCH] After hearing about the legendary Old Mill for many years, I was there for Sunday Brunch with a friend visiting from abroad. I regret it coz she deserves much better. Everything is less than I expected. Super crowded, food not up to par with price, and it's awfully dark inside.
Parking is available just across the street with reasonable fee $2/hr. A staff checked us in on a tablet, done in just seconds. Our table was wobbling, but our waiter came for rescue before we even noticed (Thanks Allan!) He's very helpful and attentive throughout our meal.
THE BIGGEST problem is the lighting. It's just DARK!! Buffet area was a bit better, still lacking, but dinning area was horribly lit. It's even worst coz my seat was facing windows from a far so my friend was back-lit. I couldn't even see her face clearly. The bright sunlight from outside and the darkness at table area created an extreme contrast of brightness. Every time I moved my head it took a while for the eyes to adapt. At times, I didn't know what's on my fork but just put it in my mouth anyway. Come to think of it, I finally understand why I can only find a few photos online when researching. It's strange coz most people likes taking pictures of food nowadays, but I couldn't find any at Sunday brunch (most from afternoon tea). It's too dark for taking pictures.
Food variety is alright, so as taste and quality. But it feels more like homemade style buffet than from restaurant (not to mention hotel). It's absolutely not up to par with $39 high price. I'd say $19.99 max. My whole dinning experience didn't even come close to causal family buffet places like Frankie's Tomato, Dragon Legend, or even Mandarin.
If you only heard of this place and have never actually eaten here, you can still try, but don't do Sunday Brunch. By the reviews and photos I saw, I imagine afternoon tea is more "reliable".
Good - Parking, exterior/outdoor, people
Fair - Food variety/quality, atmosphere
Bad - LIGHTING, PRICE
Very much enjoyed our experience. Service was a little slow. There seemed to be a delay in receiving our entree. Had to ask where the washrooms were. There was a larger party who were not mindful of sharing the dining room with other guests.
The food variety is less. Since the inn is quite dark, so for having buffet which is supposed family friendly，doesn't fit the ambiance. In overall, it's not kid friendly, cos giving us terror feeling in evening. However, I know Old Inn provide brunch and afternoon tea. So I think it would be better than having buffet dinner there, cos it's daytime and actually the Old Inn has beautiful nature view around.
Open patio very pretty but the inside is looking tired. Salad bar and desserts good. Hot food terrible, very disappointed. Probably will not be back. We used to love it.
Everything about the experience was great, except for the lingering smell of gas which gave me discomfort at times.
In town visiting family and chose this place for the historic building and proximity to river paths for a walk after the ample lunch buffet. Service was top notch; not intrusive and not rushed even though we dined past 2PM. The banana foster tart was a highlight and I'm still dreaming of it several days later.
Excellent, dining experience experience. So many good, quality buffet dishes to choose from for a very fair $ price. The decor is superb and the service for friendly and considerate.
Possibly...Would like more choices on the buffet. Choices were a bit basic but desserts were good.
Perhaps more seafood
Food was not the best. Our table was slanted and not strong - one part kept breaking.
Shrimp should be peeled and larger waffles should be soft all the ones we had we could not even cut them with a knife never mind eat them you should have a station that makes omelettes you should bring back lobsters and crab legs
Always enjoyable...........a bit disappointed no to be able to sit in the sunroom, but not the end of the world.
I love the place for their lovely brunch. There are many delicious options.
Was there inquiring about banquet facilities. Decided to stay for lunch. Glad we did as we decided not to book a function there as the food was of poor quality.
