Olives Restaurant and Bar
Monday - Sunday: 12pm - 10:30pm
We were all shocked by the waiter who was clearly very upset when we asked to change an order of one of the drinks just few seconds after making the order. He didn’t listen to what we were very politely asking to swap and kept getting very irritated until we gave up.
Then I asked wether a pasta sauce had tomato because I wouldn’t eat itif there was.
He firmly replied that there was no tomato in the pasta .
The pasta arrived with a red sauce and chopped tomatoes.
Then we had to wait for 1 hour for the second courses even if the place wasn’t busy at all.
In the mean time they kept asking to the two of us who hadn’t order a second course if we would have liked coffees or desserts, regardless the other two people with us were still waiting for their dishes.
Unacceptable,it was a special occasion and I felt embarrassed to have reserved a table there for my guests.
Me and my girlfriend were looking for an Italian restaurant to book last minute for a later meal and found Olives Restaurant and Bar. The food was good and the service was on the spot and very helpful. Not a very big place, but they have good food and good service for the value if you are looking for a nice meal.
I had dinner to Olives Restaurant with 4 friends. We didn't have a great experience. The food was ok but not that great as I expected; customer service was very poor and our waiter didn't look very awake; and worst thing even If I booked with Opentable where there was 50% discount offer with 2 courses, they didn't make us any discount because apparently it wasn't accepted after 7pm. After having had the bad news they did not even try to make us happy in another way. They lost 5 customer. Absolutely overpriced.
Nice surprise. Food here was really nice. Place was very quiet but it was a week day lunch time so not entirely unsurprising. I would recommend going if you are in the area.
Natalia was our waitress, very accommodating and friendly. Every course we had was excellent, even the wine recommendation.
Impeccable service and food every time I come to visit and bring either my partner or parents. I opted for the lasagne this time and although very tasty, I felt there was a bit too much melted cheese on top... the dish itself was already amazing so didn't need it!!
Sadly, the risotto was bland and cold. The cod was good, however.
Nice meal, attentive staff in an attractive restaurant. My second meal here and both times enjoyed the experience.
We were extremely disappointed with the service. We waited for more than 40 minutes to be served although we came on time ,we had asked for a portion with no pork but the dish contained a strong taste of pork . The waitress was rude about our complain and said it wasn’t possible.
We spent two wonderfull evenings at Olives. Dinner was very good and the service friendly and attentive. We booked promotion packages on the webpage, so we got good value for the money.
A good place to spend an evening in elegant but also relaxed atmosphere.
This restaraunt which is part of a hotel serves less than mediocre food at exorbitant prices. I am embarrassed that tourist staying there may assume this quality and cost is typical of London.
We will not go again - there are a number of independent restaurants and pubs in close vicinity which offer far better.
The sea food linguine is to die for. The food, staff and decor was outstanding.
We chose this venue for a friends' catch up after 12 years due to our love of Italian cuisine, its close proximity to Gloucester Road tube station - just one minute's walk! - a friend's nearby hotel and the guess that, as a hotel restaurant, it might be quieter than other local Sunday lunch venues. Positive reviews on major sites bolstered our decision. Three out of four reasons satisfied! Our starters of bruschetta served on slate - why? - were somewhat bland - no easy task, bearing in mind the potential flavours brought together. The melted cheese was so runny it was making a break for the edge of the slate. My main of lasagne, a house staple in Italian restaurants, again was somewhat bland, despite copious seasoning at the table. The ragout was totally lacking in flavour, the pasta sheets overcooked, the promising Grana Padano sauce [?] appeared to have been added as an afterthought, nestling furtively in one corner of the dish with the whole offering being very dry, displaying the appearance of a Saturday night overproduced reheat rather than anything freshly cooked on Sunday. My dining companion's choice of mixed grilled fish drew an 'It's ok!' comment, hardly a glowing endorsement. Italian desserts tend to be disappointing to we opted for coffees to round off a wholly unmemorable meal. Large gins and tonic, Bloody Marys and a glass of the house red brought the bill to just over £100. Again, we simply wanted to have a quiet venue for a catch up and Olives was certainly quiet. Including us, there were never more than 7 covers in the 90 minutes or so of our visit. The company overrode any disappointment in the venue. However, my stinted view of hotel restaurants remains undiminished.
Asparagus risotto was fresh and delicious
We had a lovely time. The menu had a lot of choices, a la carte and two set menus that we could have chosen. The staff were amazing - discreet but available when needed. We were greeted on arrival and left feeling thoroughly spoilt.
Not really value for money. We arrived for a pre-theatre dinner and we were disappointed with the service which we expected to be a little quicker. Admittedly we arrived 10 minutes late - 5.20pm but had to hurry them along to be out by 7.00pm.
Actually dined at Olives on 15th not 16th March. Disappointed with the menu when compared with previous visits. Our starters were excellent but the selection of main courses were not to our liking. Side dishes, chips and roasted new potatoes, were not cooked, in our opinion, properly and the side salad ordered by my wife came with a dressing when she specifically asked for none. The restaurant was full and the staff were doing their best to maintain a good service so I did not want to complain too much and just commented generally on why we left much of the side dishes.
The Bar is a very friendly place with a good atmosphere which compliments our stay at Baileys. Will visit the restaurant again on our next visit to town and hope that the 15th was a "one-off".
Excellent location its next to the South Kensington tube in London & 5 mins walk from the V & A, Natural History Museum & Science Museum.
We had our pre theatre dinner at 6pm & the service etc was fantastic.
The food and service were both excellent.
My one issue is that the menu in no way marked out which dishes were vegetarian and which were not.
This would have the potential of being a great restaurant... but don't get fooled by the great work and effort put in the decor.
Food was a mixed bag. Venison was as tough as rock. Starters were consistently very good.
Unfortunately what marred the evening (more than the lukewarm coffee) was the service that was abysmal.
Our waiter seemed on a mission to ruin our night. He made a mess of our orders and responded rudely when this was pointed out. He seemed unaware of the italian name of the dishes (then why bother writing them or calling yourself an italian restaurant?!), and when after a very sluggish service we asked "we'd like desserts, but we are late for a show. Could you make sure they come promptly?" we got a half laughter and a "that's not likely".
Really good food, friendly service, nice atmosphere
Our second visit. Nice and quiet and lovely ambience. Three course lunch menu good value for money. I don't drink alcohol but the waiter made me a lovely refreshing soft drink I enjoy that wasn't on their soft drinks menu. Friendly and accommodating service.
Nice food and very good service
Servers were wonderfully helpful and had great suggestions.
Cadre joli. Rapport qualité prix excellent
Burrata starter was superb. The Rib-eye was tasty. Great service from Imola, in particular, and Roberto's team. Andre's Negroni is a must! A warm friendly staffed restaurant.
Service is gentle but a bit disappointed with the food.
Perfectly fine for a night out but nothing special.
Overall, a good experience although my wife’s main course could have been better and the discount hadn’t been applied when the bill arrived.
Couldn’t fault anything, it was absolutely a positive experience. The food, service and ambiance of Olives was outstanding.
Very nice place, amazing tiramisu.
Staff and food were spot on!
Food was amazing and the service was unquestionable. We were made to feel very warm and welcome in an elegant setting.
So overpriced. The place was empty but it took an age to get a drink. Would not recommend
Great experience from start to finish - the food was gorgeous, good ambiance & great service from the friendly staff - a faultless experience!
made a last minute booking to take my niece out and the food was lovely. we were left alone and not rushed and whilst the restaurant was empty (sunday lunchtime) the food was lovely
Excellent up-to-date Italian food, good service, good-value and well chosen wines!
It was okay. Nothing overly special. Decent food for a great price.
