food was amazing, very good atmosphere, just missed some smiles from the waitresses...
The food was very good. The service was poor. In fact when serving the dessert the waitress leaned across the table and chucked the dessert at me. Considering how many Chinese restaurants there are where the food is good and the service is also good I see no reason to specially recommend this restaurant to anybody.
The starter platters- we had the fish was overly battered and seemed as though the contents were not freshly cooked- the after effects of msg use in food were not welcome. The dim sum was delicious and so were the ribs
This is the 3rd time I have been to the Orient with my cousin. On this occasion, we came with friends from Spain. As always, we had a fantastic time. Our friends enjoyed the Orient London experience. The staff were fantastic; a few remembered us from our last visit. Can't wait to come again!!
We were given a private room for our group of old friends (about 8 of us) with a round table. Service was efficient. friendly and non intrusive - glasses were regularly charged and tea pots topped. Crispy duck as suitable moist and crispy , pork belly with preserved vegetables was perfect with it balance of acid and fatty layers. Crispy skinned chicken was a one of crunchy moreishness. Given the chinatown growing trend towards szechuanese and northern chinese cuisine - Orient is firmly on the Cantonese side - for now.
Excellent authentic chinese food, tasty and freshly cooked. Will be back!
We always visit the Orient restaurant when in London.
Quality of food outstanding, staff all very pleasant and lovely surroundings
Good service, comfort, food etc. Would go again if in the area.
Nice place but lights were so bright felt like you were in a airport.
The food was exactly as described and came in fair portion sizes, but lacked any real flavour. Having spent much time in China, I was particularly disappointed by the lack of flavour in all the sauces as I have found many Chinese dishes are very simple yet incredibly delicious. The plates were cold, so by the time the food arrived my wife's prawns were already cold; most of the food was quickly cold after arrival.
The food was lovely and my friends and I had a great time eventually.
My friends were late - no doubt about that - and retrospectively, I should have booked a later time. However, I was not late and more or less from when I arrived, I was getting harassed for when my friends works arrive and told a few times about the 2-hour turnaround time.
As a group we were late and so we should definitely have been ready to meet the restaurant’s policy of turnaround. It was however very weird to be told the policy a few times and harassed to order. It felt extremely uncomfortable.
In the end, they let us stay a lot longer than the end of the two hour period but a part of me is confident they did this after seeing how much we had ordered (food and alcohol) and so how high the bill would be.
Overall, food great but attitude was rude and obnoxious at the start.
Food was too greasy/oily. Service was poor. Waitress was not accommodating and didn’t have a positive attitude. Food runners also had poor attitudes. Wouldn’t recommend this place. Disappointed that we had a poor experience.
Exceptionnal food! But music too loud! Nevertheless best korean in London
DO NOT RECCOMEND!
The food although tasting okay was cold and clearly only reheated, not made fresh on site yet that wasn't the worst part. The service was shocking, clearing the table as you eat never goes down well with me but scraping food onto a diner's plate while they are still eating is unacceptable. I will not be returning to this establishment.
Cosy atmosphere and great food! great place for friend's gathering.
Great food but they do love to have the aircon on super high for that true Hong Kong experience!
Had an amazing night here! Was a last minute plans with the boyfriend and I couldn’t fault the food or service. Will definitely be back!
Decent food. Skimpy on portions And the service was lacklustre. We did not pay the added on service charge for this reason.
Restaurant très bruyant. 5 à 6 serveurs différents se sont relayés.
Le service, pas au top ! Quand on les appelle, on dirait qu’on les ennuie !!
Pourtant, la nourriture est bonne. C’est dommage
On arrival we had to wait 30minutes to be seated even though I had booked a table. We were waiting for one of my friends to arrive and was told we couldn’t be seated without the whole party present which I have never experienced before. We were not even offered drinks whilst we were waiting just left in the doorway. Secondly the service was appalling. I was desperate to order some drinks and after about 30mins had to get up to find someone to serve us. Because of these reasons we decided not to pay service charge and the manager was very rude and told us that he will never serve us again in a high pitched voice which is very unprofessional.
Great restaurant and lovely food and the staff were very friendly would recommend to others and will visit again next time we are in London 😀👍🏻
I brought my boyfriend for his first dim sum experience. I ordered a lot and we could hardly finish but it costed only around 32£ !
This place has great Chinese style cooked lobster, great steamed chicken and Yin Yang fried rice. Staff were very friendly and attentive, especially with the birthday cake I had brought in. Would definitely recommend to friends and family!
V good food . Good service. Will be back.
Ordered set meal c for 5 people and were very disappointed with the portion size - two bits of duck, small main course plates. A waitress overheard us complaining and got us a bowl of stir fried noodles on the house. I think simply being more generous with serving sizes would have been simpler.
Had a lovely set meal, extremely filling and good quality.
I would recommend the Orient London, food was great and the location is very good, right next to the Chinatown arch!
Picked this restaurant after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed.
Service was absolutely amazing. We went for dinner before seeing Book of Mormon and expectations were blown out of the water. Vegetarian options are outstanding
Fang/Phang (not sure how to spell her name) was brilliant. She made our experience a lot better than it would have been without her
This is a nice place. Great food, pleasant surroundings and staff who seem to enjoy what they're doing. Currently our favourite in Chinatown.
Always very reliable dim sum. Service reassuringly grumpy.
Always very reliable dim sum. Service reassuringly grumpy.
Usually we have crispy duck at the Four Seasons, which is very good. However, sometimes wefeel crammed in there. This restaurant was a nice change. The dim sum appetizer was very nice, the duck was very good (flavor) although slightly dry. The ambiance more than made up for the difference. And we were able to happily dine and finish in slightly over an hour at a reasonable price.
Enjoyable evening meal with great service. We had sizzling beef with pepper which was superb! We also had Cantonese sweet and sour pork which was very tasty but sadly we would have preferred a little more of the delicious sauce. Otherwise perfect.
My wife and I tried the Orient for pre theatre evening meal and thought they were excellent. Very good set menus with just the right amount of food presented at very good price. Service was also very good. Will return again and would recommend,.
Went here for a Saturday night meal with my girlfriend and her mum. Really great experience, lovely food and and really nice ambience. Would go again :)
I have been to this restaurant and it has always been first class.
I booked a table and would suggest anyone planning on eating at the Orient should do the same, it gets very busy and could be waiting a while for a table.
The food was like none other, usually Chinese food is quite greasy or oily. Not an issue with the food served here, good portions, freshly cooked the only downfall was the squid we had in their Set Menu D, it was very salty. If you are a lover of deserts you may be slightly disappointed with the options available unless you have been to a Chinese restaurant previously you will know that their deserts are not particularly great. Despite that I had my dads coconut pudding while he ate my mango cheesecake. I stress if you have not had Asian deserts before you should check prior before eating out as you will be dissatisfied.
The service was impeccable and I loved the fact they gave hot towels after each meal.
It was a Father’s Day treat for my dad to which the whole family enjoyed the experience.
Great food and service, we loved the ambiance.
