Orient London is an independent Chinese restaurant in Soho's Chinatown, London.
Our specialities are Dim Sum and seafood, with a focus on Szechuan and Cantonese dishes, plus those from the northern regions of China.
Our aim is to delight and enthuse customers who want to experience delicious, authentic Chinese food that is honestly-priced.
We hope you'll find our service friendly and efficient, our ambiance relaxing and our refurbished premises with contemporary décor elegant and comfortable.
Proud to serve the Chinese and central London business communities, plus theatre-goers and tourists.
All our dishes (including all Dim Sum) are cooked fresh daily by our own chefs on the premises.
served with pancakes, spring onion, cucumber & hot sin sauce
Fried Soft Shell Crab^

with ginger & spring onion
Tried this place with my dad and brother for the first time since hearing they do very good freshly made dim sum and was not disappointed! Everything we ordered from the dim sum menu was delicious (the cheung fun with prawn and bean curd, and stir-fried turnip cake with XO sauce being particular standouts), and the staff were very attentive and helpful in making recommendations. We paid 33 pounds (including 10% eating out discount) for food + tea for 3, and were all quite stuffed!
An added bonus was being able to sit outside at one of just two tables under an electric heater, as my dad preferred not to sit inside for social-distancing (though they appeared to have taken measures for this inside, too - plastic screens between adjacent tables, reasonably well-distributed groups, etc.) - Would like to come back another time and sit indoors to get a better feel for the ambience!
We went there already few times, never disappointed!Amazing food!
Great food, speedy service, excellent value for money
Always good food here and good service too. Best one we've found in China Town so far
Everytime we visit we're blown away by the quality of the Dim Sum. Service is quick and friendly. If you order too much just ask for takeaway boxed. Free refills on the Chinese tea too. Incredible value for money and one of purr favourite places to eat in London
Very good food, large portions and great aesthetics in the heart of London!
Food was delicious, and a lovely central spot too. Service was great, really enjoyed our evening
A Chinese feast with amazing dishes and great service
Food and service was great. And the bonus of 30% off due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.
This is our favourite restaurant in Chinatown and the dim sum is as good as always.
Tables were well spaced out as per government guidelines and screens between tables where this wasn’t possible. Staff all wore masks and the track and trace was carried out and we wore masks to our table etc.
Always our favourite Chinese . Perfect for special occasions
I have been coming to what is now known as Orient London since before I was born, no joke my mum had Chinese food cravings while pregnant and then it was a regular stop for me and my dad.
Since it was Jade Garden, the food has been delicious with always friendly staff, this hasn’t changed with the refurb a couple of years ago. Staff remain friendly, food continues to be a favourite and no matter how many new people I introduce they always want to return!
If 33yrs of continued patronage doesn’t sell you on this place I don’t know what will, but maybe the following:
You can tell the quality of a foreign cuisine restaurant not only by good reviews but also by the other patrons and in my mind a Chinese restaurant that is usually more than half full with Chinese people speaks volumes for the quality and authenticity of the food they sell.
Now obviously it is on the pricier side, it is in central London, but I would always recommend it.
Extremely friendly team - everyone said hello. We had a set meal which was all delicious. Thanks to the team - look forward to coming back.
Food was okay, similar to a buffet style Chinese. Menu is huge!
Staff weren’t as attentive as I would have liked.
We’ve been to Orient London a number of times now and each occasion has been superb. The staff are very attentive and the food quality is always fantastic
Excellent food, great service and perfect for social distancing
Nice area, hospitality was great, food was nice however, other customers were seated too close to us without a face mask when there were multiple tables around the restaurant that were unoccupied and for health and safety it would’ve been wiser to seat them elsewhere.
Excellent lobster noodles and fried squid. Cost effective with the 30% off deal. Overall service was attentive. Lady who abruptly admonished us for not scanning details right away could be less aggressive on arrival.
Great food and service.
Friday date night in Soho. Booked Orient on the desire for a traditional Chinese meal within refined surroundings. Overall food was excellent, with limited trace of MSG, great selection of set menus. Dining room was very well healed similar to what you would expect at an upmarket international hotel. Service was friendly and efficient. Social distancing was well adhered to with the exception of the bathrooms which were not controlled - minor fault. Overall recommended for a well priced Chinese dining experience above the standard Soho experience. Recommended
Despite the very difficult conditions at the moment, we were welcomed back by the staff, the meal was very good as usual and we enjoyed ourselves.
Great food & service. Ideal for pre theatre dinner
Very accommodating taking us in early. Orient mixed starter and crispy wonton excellent. Fried rice, chicken chow mein great. Daughter wasn’t to keen on her lemon chicken but I thought it was fine. Mixed bbq meats, very good quality but not to my personal taste sadly. But good to try new things. Would go again as crispy beef on another table looked very tasty. £135 for 4 people including tip and drinks.
Food was absolutely amazing aswell as the staff.they were very attentive, and a lovely atmosphere.i would go back again.however was on the pricey side, but I suppose I get what u pay for.
Food tasted good but the service is below average...
Good quality meal let down a little by staff being disingenuous about adjusting the air conditioning for us. If they'd have been upfront that it wasn't possible to begin with all would have been fine.
If you're looking for a delicious Chinese restaurant to eat at in China town this has to be the best. The décor is clean and simple, the staff are lovely and the food is amazing. If you go, definitely have the crispy aromatic duck! We were given a table by the window and it was a lovely quiet spot. Highly recommend!!
A very pleasant evening in Chinatown. Food very good and friendly attentive service. A nice casual Chinese restaurant at fair prices and which I would definitely recommend
Out with my sons for their birthday, been before! Waitress Fang was fabulous
Very good service and reasonable prices but some dishes from the set menu were rather disappointingly, bland and hard to distinguish from one another. However, portions were very generous and everything was very clean.
Lovely food, excellent service will be going again !!!!
Really lovely! Yummy food, particularly the seafood platter for starters. Lovely staff too.
Very busy restaurant with a good buzz. Food was delicious, salt and pepper ribs were meaty and spicy. Duck and pancakes very moist and flavoursome. Sizzling steak in black pepper sauce and King Prawn Kung Po, both huge portions and excellent again.
Experience at Orient? In a word: dreadful. We had made a reservation for a Chinese New Year's Eve dinner weeks ahead of time with a request for an upstairs table for 3. Upon arrival, we were instead led to possibly the worst table in the place - a table squeezed into the middle of the chaotic ground floor that barely had space for two people to eat and food scraps from the previous diners still under the table. We pointed this out to the waiter who simply shrugged his shoulders. The floor manager was no better - his was a brusque "Take it or leave it" manner. We decided to "leave it" and departed without eating. I have had a couple of OK meals at Orient in the past, but sadly this is basically the type of busy Chinatown restaurant that has enough tourist flow to not have to bother with customer care. We shall not be returning.
We live near Manchester and last time we visited London with friends I googled and found this restaurant. We had a lovely meal and really value for money.
It’s difficult trying to choose a restaurant in China Town when you don’t know the area.
We visited London again this weekend and again had a lovely meal.
My only complaint was I would have like a portion of pork and beef Sui Mai but they did not do them in the evening?
Will definitely be going again on our next visit.
Very nice restaurant with good service, food and clean toilets.
Fantastic food and service. Well worth a visit . We had sizzling beef and also 2 prawn dishes with sides of noodles, seaweed and rice. Was fantastic.
Amazing food and great portion sizes. The people on the next table were loud and drunk, which got a bit annoying, but that's just luck (or unluck) of the draw. There was always a staff member available nearby but they respected our privacy and didn't keep checking on us. The service was quick and we weren't kept waiting. Worth every penny. Will definitely come back.
I really enjoyed my dining evening at Orient London. It was easy to find having followed instructions via open table and Apple Maps. I was kindly greeted on arrival and the restaurant rep surprisingly knew my name and greeted me on arrival.
I was directed to my table and was given sufficient time to settle before my order was taken.
Option menu C was a delicious selection and allowed for us to sample a variety of tasty options during the meal and conversation. I requested one change to the menu whereby a prawn with Cashew dish was swapped for the sweet and sour option which was so delicious I could’ve opted for a second portion.
The venue was lovely, pleasant atmosphere, clean and tidy I noticed the tables were swiftly cleaned once diners bills were settled. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
I’m likely to return to this restaurant in the future. I’d like to visit at least once more.
Friendly staff. We arrived one hour early but they were able to show us to a table straight away. Food was very good. Nice wine selection. Service was prompt and efficient. Would visit again.
Close to Leicester Sq at start of Chinatown, easy to find. Staff helpful and efficient. Good menu with mix of veg and meat/seafood. Good sized portions, food great. Nice atmosphere. Would be happy to go again.
