Oro
Our first time dining at Oro. Very nice setting inside but main dining room was not open so only seating in the Tavern area. VERY NOISY, our attendant was disinterested and kind of rude. The food however was FANTASTIC! Grid whole clams were best I’ve had in Scituate. Bolognese was excellent as were the Fish Cakes my wife ordered. Hopefully they get the seating straightened out on our next visit.
Love eating at Oro...first time in their new space. Great energy and well prepared food. The salmon perfectly seared and the fish cakes were declared excellent!
Noise level is high and it is clear that lots of folks are discovering one of our favorites in Scituate.
We love the food at Oro and tonight was one of the best dishes I have eaten there. The salmon was seared perfectly with a wonderful crunchy crust. The mustard cream sauce with the Brussels sprouts was delicate and a perfect accompaniment. I was full half way through but cleaned my plate. My partner in crime (who never orders chicken in a restaurant) said his chicken dish was excellent. Service is pleasant and friendly without being intrusive. We look forwards to great things happening in their new digs next month. They will be greatly missed in Scituate Harbor.
Oysters were magnificent. Haddock entrée was not. Service was first class, noise level was high.
Such a very quaint and cute spot on the water in the lovely town of Scituate, the food was amazing, loved the salmon entree the Cooke sandwich dessert appetizers and drinks included, highly recommended to get back too!!
Lively and loud, but food was excellent! The server was new so didn't really know the bar well, but was cheery and professional. Not a place to go for quiet conversation....but consistently good. Looking forward to their new location.
The place is a bit noisy - the dinning area isn’t sufficiently separated from the rambunctious bar area so it’s hard to have a conversation
The food was good
The service outstanding
Fish special was so overcooked it was inedible. Service was poor. Very disappointing
Cool outdoor dining setup.
Another fabulous meal at Oro with their new Fall menu. Loved the new mango chili martini and the scallop dish
Could not hear people we were wth as it was very noisy!
Everything was really good. The staff were friendly and efficient. The decor was tasteful and it was very clean. There seemed to be a friendly bar service where we would definitely go to again.
My only complaint is that my side of fries were very badly burnt and even though our server apologised we were still charged for them. I maybe got 10 fries that weren’t absolutely burnt.
As always excellent - we go there a couple times a year and have yet to have a bad meal. Our server was friendly and attentive
Food was really great, our server was great and the drinks were awesome!
I went there on a date and it was great experience from beginning to end. We sat at the bar and experienced attentive and friendly service. We had the calamari appetizer, which was wonderful...it is some of the best calamari I’ve experienced...the texture was just right and the greens and peppers added a great balance of flavors. We ordered the cedar plank salmon and scallops. Both dishes were well prepared and delicious. We will definitely be back again.
I took my mother there for bunch on a Sunday. We had never been but knew it was a popular restaurant so I made reservations using OpenTable. When we got there (noon), there wasn't a single patron in the place! It happened to be the last day of summer and 85, so I assume most people were at the beach. The atmosphere was lovely. Our server was very attentive and the food was amazing! I had the chorizo "hash" with egg over easy and bernaise sauce. My mother had 2 poached eggs, english muffin, bacon and potatoes. She loved her breakfast and so did I! The bernaise sauce was creamy and had a little kick of cayenne, the chorizo was in small chunks and sauteed with fresh peppers and onions, the potatoes were tender inside the over easy eggs were perfectly done! Heaven!!
My only "complaint" was that the drink I had (monster coffee?) was a little light on the alcohol, it didn't have much of a punch but was tasty. Oh, and since it was nice, they had the door open, maybe a screen door but several flies were rather annoying while we were trying to eat.
Overall I would HIGHLY recommend Oro's brunch and look forward to coming back at other meal times!
So noisy I couldn’t hear myself think. Food was ok. View of gas station out front window. Not going there again.
Everything was very good except the noise level. The hostess kindly tucked us in a corner; but even there, sitting close side by side, it was hard to understand each other. Lots of hard surfaces and raised voices.
We shared an order of calamari and each had the crabcake entree. Both dishes were excellent: calamari fried to perfection, lots of crab in the cakes. The jalapeño Margarita was a refreshing variation on a familiar theme.
Out server was very kind and accommodating.
Food was very good. Limited menu.
Great place to enjoy company!!
Exceptional quality. This kitchen understands the proper use of spices and herbs. Truly a culinary gem tucked in Scituate. I hope their move to the P.J.s location proves successful.
Beautifully prepared and presentation of food. Very nice choice for an upscale oceanside dining experience. Casual and friendly staff who were very attentive. Only complaint was it does get very loud, so not recommended if you are looking for a quiet romantic dining experience. Definitely a must go! We will be back soon!
This restaurant is a popular spot in Scituate Harbour and we visit frequently with out of town guests.
Food and service are great however the noise level is just uncomfortable. I would recommend to anyone reserving a table to request the large room on the other side of the bar. We sat between a large glass window and the very busy and noisy bar so having conversation was difficult.
We enjoy the restaurant and plan to return numerous times, just not in that section.
Excellent food...excellent service...great dining experiencer....like always!
Very good food and services. Very attentive and everything was well prepared.
Great vibe but definitely noisy! We didn't mind but not a place for a quiet conversation.
Great app, OK drink, dinner was presented well, but lacked.
Still a really nice time.
The bar crowd is very loud so it’s a little strained to talk over for a nice dinner
Creative, fresh farm to table food. Great service. Inventive drinks.
We ordered the Misto Del Mar which was quite good. Fried calamari was average. My son ordered the gnuddi which was flavorless. I ordered the pappardelle and the shrimp was so over cooked I had to return the dish. My husband enjoyed the steak arepas. Disappointing meal. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the bar was full of yelling patrons. For a restaurant so small it is very loud. Server was very nice and attentive and they gave us free dessert to make up for the botched shrimp dish.
Excellent service. Food was just ok. It was Super loud, hard to have a conversation with your table.
We have a wonderful brunch at Oro and are looking forward to returning to try out other meals soon! Service was excellent as was the food. Can't wait to return.
We hadn't been to Oro in a couple of years, and it seems to have slipped quite a bit. The menu was very limited. The cocktail menu, beer selections and wine list was much longer. We were a party of 4 and none of us saw anything on the menu that interested us. We were all very disappointed at the short list of dishes offered. We were going to finish our cocktail and leave but it was prime time and we couldn't get a reservation nearby, so we stayed. 3 of us settled on salmon which was nothing special, the Asian vegetables that were served with it were bland. The gnocchi with spicy sausage was a small portion and visually not very appealing, taste was mediocre. The noise level was loud. Bar was jam packed so drinks came slowly. We had to wait for clean glasses so we suggested to the server that we just use the ones we had. We asked for salt for the salmon dish, which she did bring over but then quickly took away, as they needed that salt shaker at another table. Tables are tight, it seems like a neighborhood spot, so folks coming from the bar area to say hello to their friends seated near us kept bumping the backs of our chairs. The entire visit was work to get through. We won't be going back.
Consistently one of the diamonds of the South Shore dining scene. Never disappoints!
They had an AMAZING escargot special when we went. Our waitress was super nice. Delicious spicy margarita!!
My favorite spot.
We have loved Oro brunch in the past. Three of the four of us got the burger and it was a huge thick patty. Very unappetizing looking- just a huge chunk of meat. Maybe the recipe/chef was different but don’t remember it being cooked like that in the past.
Mother’s Day brunch
Brunch at Oro is fantastic! Food is great, service is great, ambiance (live music) is great too. Love coming back!!
We had a great time and will be dining again in the future.
