Osteria Antica Bologna
Swordfish special for main was perfectly cooked and delicious. I did not enjoy my starter of Aracine (fried rice balls with arrabiata sauce) but it perhaps a poor choice. the arrabiata sauce was dull and lacking flavour. Service was delightfully friendly and attentive. Ambience was noisy but that’s what you want in a Trattoria, right?
Great place ! We will be back. We had the fish and it was very nice. I recommend the sea bream
We have had a number of excellent meals here but this time was a little less great than it had been previously. The food was ok but there were some faults, such as steak which was ordered as medium-rare arriving rare to blue, under-seasoned fish and the billed prosciutto and burrata containing very little of the latter. We'd go back though as hopefully this is a one-off and the service is consistently good.
This is what proper Italian food should be....
Lovely restaurant with incredible Italian food! Every time we go it keeps getting better
Utterly charming and family run service. Could not have been more helpful and flexible with the menu and allowed us to mix up the set 3-course lunch menu to suit dietary requirements and personal preferences. The food was delicious and had that rustic home cooking quality. Lovely waiters, waitresses and staff. Superb value too.
Great food and great service, have just knocked it down for service as we had to ask for the bill three times and ask again to take our card payment but overall excellent and lovely food, great quality, I'll be returning again.
Amazing restaurant! Will be back soon
Very good food and service as always.
Lovely meal and great ambiance, would definitely go again.
We had been at an event all day with friends in another part of London and stopped in Clapham on way home. We used to be local residents but had not been back to Osteria for maybe 14 years. We have fond memories and the new management lived up to those and the food did not fail to impress. A lovely evening with old friends at an old haunt.
Great food, feels very authentic to traditional Italian restaurants and I loved that all the staff are all Italian too! Only real negative is that the tables are small and very close together so not one For an intimate lunch or dinner - was pretty noisy.
I simply love this place. Moved away from the area so it was a welcome return to a lovely meal great wine and great service. By far the best restaurant in the area for me
I haven’t been to this restaurant in more than 10 years. It’s as good as I remember it from years ago. Great place.
Nice location. The food is tasty but definetly it’s not italian flavours. Overall a good experience though.
Great and friendly staff.
Food good but maybe slightly over priced.
Nice wine and a good variety of thing.
Recommend most of the antipasti items.
Not one for vegans though
Service extremely good and food nicely presented. Only criticism we felt the wine was overpriced
We had lunch on a Sunday and we really enjoyed it. We were four people and we ordered rissoto, grilled tuna, beef steak and duck breast as mains - all of them were excellent! We also shared the fritto misto and some bread with olive oil. We will come back again :)
Osteria on a Friday night was great, very busy yet staff were attentive. Good quality food although portion sizes were a little small, other than that a good place to eat
Just delightful! Great food, great service and alfresco dining. What more could you ask for on a warm summers eve.
Amazing food, great service and beautiful atmosphere - highly recommended!
We were introduced to this lovely place by friends who have been visiting for 20 years. The food is fantastic, very skilled chef and friendly service. We will be visiting for at least next 20 years.
The food was amazing and I would definitely recommend it - looking forward to going back!
it feels like being in Italy. The cooking is great, and the ingredients are truly excellent - the burrata is amazing!
James was an outstanding waiter/host and really made the day for us. We have been coming here twice a year for about six years as a group of 2 brothers and a sister.
Overall I think the portion sizes have reduced but the standard and quality is still high.
We love the fact that you can buy wine by the carafe, although it probably contributes greatly to our inability to remember how many we’ve actually ordered!
The food was very tasty, but that's it. Portions too small, food typical of a totally different place. After a starter, a first dish and a dessert I got out actually still hungry after spending £30.
I've patronised this place for decades, so felt fairly confident booking it for lunch with a friend.
The set menu looked fine; my arancini starter was nothing like any I've had - basically, gooey, bland cheese. It had the consistency of peanut butter.
Chicken Milanese was devoid of taste.
The staff were very pleasant, so this poor menu is a shame for them, too.
Fantastic food, we had the salmon, duck, and entrecôte, and they were some of the nest we've had around! a cute and friendly family look and feel, but with a fantastic chef back there! Thanks will def go again!
Beautiful food, and very welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend
On a sunny day with the doors open this was a nice place to have dinner. We had very good pasta and great desserts; good wine selection and I liked that it was possible to order several different wines by the glass or carafe. The only negative was the service, which was a bit hit and miss - it was very attentive at first but later on they were quite slow to clear plates and we had to ask to order dessert even though they'd brought the dessert menus already.
Good food that's more original than your usual trattoria fare. Very friendly and timely service.
Great food as ever. Our server James was brilliant; passionate about the menu, excellent in his recommendations, great customer service - give him a raise.
The noise level and acoustics is unbearable. We always meet here and always sit in the back room (which was full), where it is quieter. Next time I will request. We could not hear the waiter or each other.
Good food and wine in a mostly relaxed setting
Service was good, although plates were cleared when one member of the group was still finishing her last mouthful. Many restaurants do this, no excuse though.
Reliable local Italian with good food and friendly service. Great for a family dinner
Really good meal again from the ever-reliable L'Osteria. Have been coming here for 20+ years and it never disappoints. The highlights were the pea and sage ravioli and my friend's duck main course. The wine was a very decent bottle of Barbera. Service prompt as always and as attentive as you want them to be.
Osteria Antica Bologna has been a good local 'family favourite' of ours for years. The menu is not adventurous, but what is on offer is good quality faire, served up by friendly, and for the most part, efficient staff. The wine list is relatively short with a typical offering of mostly Italian wines at reasonable prices relative to the quality. Pasta dishes are particularly good, the pasta is made in-house. On this occasion we had starters and then pasta so I cannot comment on the meat or fish dishes.
If you are going to try anywhere on the Northcote road, you have to try Antica Bologna. The food is outstanding and such a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I couldn’t recommend it more highly!
Excellent food and service at every visit so can’t stop going back. Best understated Italian around Clapham Junction. Well done!
Very nice Italian restaurant with authentic food
