Great place and have been there many time. It always seemed to be a quiet place to get away, unlike several of its competitors locally but today there was a table of 8 ish Who pretty loud and that was disappointing. Food again great, staff great but a few alternatives on fish / meat menu might be well received!! Will be back !!!
Always a good location for a quick or long lunch. Full of insurance types so if you work locally you are almost certain to mee people you know
Excellent food and service and delicious bottle of Gavi. Swordfish pasta fantastic.
Very poor experience. Multiple items on menu unavailable. And the worst experience in ordering wine. We ordered 3 different bottles and every time they brought a later year that advertised in menu, a 2013 chianti on menu and they bring a 2018 bottle and have the audacity to say that it tastes the same and then when challenged, offer to reduce £2 of a £40 bottle!!!!
Horrible experience and would not recommend anyone to go there. Was embarrassed to take a business guest and will never do it again.
Decent experience and enjoyable - food and menu was better and more varied
Service was excellent and food enjoyable. The ragu was excellent but the caper and olive sauce with the lemon sole although a little thick was delicious. Thank you for great service. It was a little noisier than expected but it was almost Christmas!
I went to Osteria del Mercato with a friend and we had an amazing time. The food was excellent, the service efficient and the waiters were very helpful. Although located in a busy area, the restaurant is surprisingly quiet and ideal to enjoy a good conversation.
Food very tasty. Service slow, could have done with another waiter for Friday lunch.
Nice experience. Authentic Italian. Outside it was really noisy but inside it was nice. The stairs are very steap! Beware
Lovely friendly greeting and well organised. Nice ambience and décor in the restaurant and good selection of food which was delivered promptly without feeling rushed. It got very busy around 1- 1:30 and is clearly very popular (and rightly so). When it got to its busiest, the service wasn't so good - we never got to order a desert before it was time to leave as the Osteria team were all busy with other tables, but overall the experience was good. The only slight gotcha is the entrance, as it would be useful to have a sign at the top of the basement stairs or a gate or some way of signposting people through the doorway instead. The signage was too subtle and we did wonder what sort of place we'd booked when walking down the stairs, but were pleasantly surprised (and relieved) when we found the correct door.
Very difficult to find, up very steep rather rickety stairs. Food Ok but not startling.
We were offered water when we arrived and recommended a delicious white wine. We both had the salmon & cod but my guest wanted to change the lentils for courgettes and this was no problem for our waitress. Although the tables seemed close together it wasn't noisy and on the hottest day of the year the fans and open windows allowed a cooling breeze.
Great Italian which is always so reliable. The menu has good range and the wine list is excellent too - great service each time I have been
Good food and service was much better than I'd been led to believe! Will definitely go back.
Whilst the food was to a very high standard, the service was incredibly slow - we had 20 minute waits between any visits from the staff, and when other tables were being served, eye contact was avoided so we couldn't even get their attention.
Reliable, good quality food and good service in pleasing surroundings.
Nice Italian classics in a lovely bright room - a peaceful little haven above Leadenhall Market. Good service, rather overpriced.
All was good aaprt from when I asked for fresh mint tea and was told they had no fresh mint but fresh mint appeared on our deserts. Its fresh mint and water. Otherwise a good lunch place staple.
Service was good but everything else disappointed: pasta was bad, pancetta was old over cooked lard, cheese tired, bread basket greasy, and prices way out of line with quality.
Wonderful surprise in Leadenhall. Above the bustle of the market
I booked this restaurant for an informal business diner. Good quality food and good wines. We did ask for a number of starters to share. Unfortunately one starter was 3 big prawns and it was not possible to up-scale to 4people which is inflexible. aside of that it was a very enjoyable and tasteful evening.
Expensive for a well cooked pasta. Very noisy. Service OK.
Great tasting food, freshly prepared. Portions just right! Very polite and welcoming atmosphere.
Fabulous food in comfortable setting in perfect location.
It’s a decent venue - food is just ok for the value - very salty though.
Food was very good but ambience was poor- it was probably due to January and Tuesday but no one else in the restuarant.
My first choice of main was not available which wasn't ideal
Menu is a little limited but food is very nice
We had a great meal here, the pasta was excellent, and would recommend visiting.
Great food and setting. Service was a bit lacking and was hard to get attention of the serving staff.
A hidden gem in Leadenhall Market but the entrance is easily missed unless you know exactly where to look. Really good for an early lunch.
The food was very disappointing and service was slow, keeping in mind this was a business lunch and time was of a premium, I needed to ask a couple of times to speed things up.
Always good Italian food. Very reasonable. Lovely staff.
Leadenhall Market favourite once you have scaled the sheer steps. Food good but too cramped for a comfortable dining experience
An unfortunate choice of meatball risotto!
Good Italian restaurant at Leadenhall Market - despite the huge crowd at the pub downstairs it wasn't too busy or loud in the restaurant itself. Food was pretty good, classic Italian dishes. The pasta looked good, duck was okay.
This is a place for pasta, I took something else (the gamberoni and the tortino) and was not too impressed
Market alarm went off and, whereas I understand this might not have been restaurant's fault, I was expecting some kind of compensation (maybe a coffee on the house?) for having to put up with a horrible noise for quite a few minutes. This is not a good way of treating your customers. A table of 5 actually left, and I dont blame them.
I've been here a few times now, and just marking it down a bit for value as the prices seem to have been marked up as word has got around! Excellent pasta - al dente - with rich sauce. Good wine list and helpful friendly staff. They deserve to do well.
Menu options are limited.
Food was good.
Service was poor.
Would not recommend.
noisy bank holiday outside quiet in the restaurant. great food.
Had more of a modern makeover but still a very good Italian in the City. Limited menu, but preferable in that what they do they do well.
