Great lunch spot for business meetings or with friends
We were delighted to share this new-to-us place with friends
visiting from England. A warm, attentive, well-informed waiter.
A wonderful menu of old favorites and unusual specials, and
best of all, not at all noisy! A relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
You can’t go wrong with the pasta. I’ve been there a few times and always get pasta :)
Much too noisy. Did not like the menu. It was not what I expected. I took a client to lunch
and I could barely have a conversation.
Happy to find a good restaurant in this area - close to Grand Central Station and Grand Hyatt. Not too loud compared to most NYC restaurants. We were seated promptly and hostess/server were very friendly.
Entree (ravioli filled with short ribs in a brown butter sauce) was excellent. Appetizer was average. Did not have dessert, but enjoyed the complimentary mini meringues that were served when the bill arrived. Would definitely go back.
The food was very good but we felt extremely rushed for a Saturday date night. They would not let us order our appetizers prior to putting our entree order and made us order them at the same time. We were probably out within 45 minutes of sitting down.
I had the Branzino and it was superb. My wife had the gnocchi and it was the best she had ever had. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. Her suggestions were spot on! We will be back!!!
Food and service at Osteria Laguna are terrific. We shared pizza, plus had pastas and salads, and loved every dish. Prices are a little high but I guess that's a function of its midtown location.
Good experience - good food. It was the perfect place for a quick dinner on a very cold night
Osteria Laguna was a great find. Wonderful Italian food. Better than some that we recently had Italy! My spouse had the grilled seafood platter with a great salad that was full of beautifully placed seafood. It was so good that we returned for lunch a few days later where he promptly ordered the same dish. I had a tagliatelle dish one visit and an amazing ravioli dish the other. Both were nicely garnished, beautifully plated and great tasting. Olives and delicious bread made a nice start to both meals. Good wine and beer choices too.
Was staying across the street at the Westin and picked the restaurant due to convenience. We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, the wine list by the glass was superb, and the service was excellent. We would definitely go back on our next visit to New York.
Food was very good. Service was on the slow side, had to tell the waitress we had a train to catch or else we would have been there for hours
Service was fair, server had other tables up front so spent time there, never refilled water, husbands meal was good. My salmon dry after asked if I wanted medium but was well done. Wouldn’t go again
Excellent food, good service, lovely gluten free options.
Always delicious food and good service at a place conveniently located near Grand Central.
Service wasn't great and way too loud for a client dinner.
Early reservation so not too crowded but already very noisy. Server was attentive and we were asked about our order almost immediately, perhaps too soon. Soup came out and mine was lukewarm and not very good - pasta e fagioli - too much tomato and not enough pasta or beans and pretty insipid. My entree was shortrib ravioli and they were also not as flavorful as I would have expected and felt very heavy and oily. The other person dining with me liked her dishes - a soup and the grilled octopus salad. Noise level increased as dinner progressed though we were done in less than 1 hour. Main issue for me is that there are many other better places in the area for my liking that I don't think I'll be back here.
Always fresh and well developed dishes! I have come several times and never been disappointed. My guests enjoyed it immensely
food and service were incredible. 10/10 would recommend.
Excellent food and service. Nice ambient
We had a great evening. After reading online reviews, we decided to host a family dinner there. We were very happy with the food and service, and is conveniently located near Grand Central Station. We will come back and recommend it to friends.
Went there for business meeting. Very loud. Difficult to hear each other.
The restaurant was nice inside and nicely decorated with ample seating. The server was very knowledgeable about the food and menu and was very nice to us. In addition, I am vegan so I needed the food to be cooked without any dairy products and the waiter knew that the risotto was cooked with butter (not on menu) and pointed that out to me and was able to quickly and easily suggest a vegan alternative. I went to this restaurant for a business lunch and was easily able to hear and talk to the guests at the table which was also a plus.
Whoever owns this place now ruined it. I will not return. Stick to catering children's birthday parties.
Easy walk from grand central station
Lovely atmosphere, excellent quality food & beautiful presentation & ambiance
Servers were professional & kind
Enjoyed my evening
Will return !
Food was ok and delivered quickly. No follow up from server to see how we were doing or if we wanted a second glass of wine. Individual pizza was good with a great crust. Value good for NYC. Would return.
I was not happy with our waiter. He did not seem experienced and gave much more attention to other tables. I was constantly looking for him to order something. Very disappointing as I was with friends I did not see for awhile and had to keep looking for the waiter. Maybe he had too much to handle.
The food is outstanding, but the high noise level, crowded entry and relatively high prices make us return less frequently. Great food but not a relaxing experience.
Food and waitstaff was amazing. Purple haired hostess was rude and texting while greeting my party. Unprofessional!
This is my go to location for dinner and lunch meetings. The staff is friendly and very accommodatingIn the food is fantastic.
I'm impressed by the waitstaff as they always remain courteous even after the bills paid and we are wrapping up our discussion.
On an additional note, they are very helpful to my partner who has MS and needs a place to "park" his scooter. Really, just cant go wrong!
Always consistent and excellent food with a good rotation of specials. Perfect for business lunches as the service is attentive and knows when to move things along or allow the guests time to chat. Antonia always greets me with a smile and makes me feel welcome. I would recommend to anyone in the area. There is also a full bar with prompt and courteous service.
We all enjoyed our good but I pointed out that my chicken was a little too well done. The service was great and since I was there to meet and talk to people, it turned out to be perfect.
Always a great meal at Osteria Laguna. The beet salad and the grilled octopus were amazing. Glad to see the brodetto was on the menu. It’s a favorite and didn’t disappoint. I’ll be back.
We were really looking forward to this restaurant, as we had reservations to it for the first time over Thanksgiving 2018 and were not able to go. When we entered, we were greeted indifferently, met up with our friend, who had arrived first and had a drink at the bar. She was carrying her drink to our table and was immediately accosted by one of the staff over paying then and there for the drink instead of simply adding it to her dinner tab. It was a completely inelegant experience!
We cleared this up, got to the table, and placed our order with a pretty arrogant wait person. Her attitude was cold and almost condescending. The food we had long looked forward to was fair, barely warm, and definitely not gourmet. The staff continually tried to take our unfinished plates away.
Sadly, this was a very disappointing experience.
We dine at Osteria Laguna each time we travel to NYC. We are never disappointed as the quality of food and service remains the same top quality each time.
Excellent local Italian - food is good and very consistent, service is very good too. We go frequently as a family, it’s a solid local Italian restaurant.
I’ve been to the restaurant more than 20 times. I had a very bad service tonight for first time. I was very disappointed about our waiter and server.
