Great lunch with a perfect Thai influence. Waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable and food was delicious. The proximity to the Bowl was another bonus. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly and will go back when in the neighborhood.
Our favorite was the lettuce wraps, oysters and gnocchi. This is a great restaurant with spectacular food and service. We went for lunch but will be back to try dinner.
Overrated...hype because he won a cooking competition. Our server was great...food, not so much. Salad far too acidic and they had something they had the nerve to call naan. It was like a buttery pancake. Entrees ok at best. Happy I tried it but won’t be back.
Love all veggies. So interesting the way they put flavors together. A lesson in creative cooking.
Location was great. Good was good. Overall 4 stars
We joyfully celebrated our anniversary in Otium thanks to all awesome Otium people. Appreciate about the food and service again! It was an exceptional and perfect day to us :)
One of the best all around meals I've had in awhile. From start to finish it was an amazing experience. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Recommend bringing more people so you can try more items. The menu is pretty extensive. Three of us made it through 8 dishes including dessert and were completely satisfied. Stand out dishes were the naan bread with truffle butter and the new New York strip (amazing!). Enjoy!
Fantistic staff and service. Great food. Highly recommend
This is a gem.
excellent all around. imaginative menu, impeccably executed
We often go to Otium before the theater or when in DTLA. It never disappoints! This time our server who I wish I remembered her name was superb. Her recommendations were spot on and tried each suggestion. Bravo!
I was expecting higher food standards from this restaurant. It’s average-good, not great
The service was exceptional. Lovely gal who explained plates and drinks and made us feel very welcome.
Unfortunately, our pasta with pesto and pistachios was overly salty and we were unable to finish it because it was and we did let Otium know. Offered to bring us another plate, but we declined. I was very surprised to see that we still were charged for it.
We love Otium but the restaurant was getting ready for an emmey event and they were definite problems during the course of the meal. That being said the staff was attentive and "fixed" what they could and we will absolutely go back.
The food was excellent. We forgot our leftover chicken. We came back a few minutes later for it; and we were told it was already been thrown away. 😩
Great waiter.. Great food!
One of the best dining experiences I have had to date, from amazing food to fantastic service it was the perfect anniversary night.
Otium is my go-to for business lunches when I'm in LA--it's always been a taste sensation!--but something has slipped there. The food was over-salted and lacking invention and subtlety. In a word, it was ordinary. Maybe preparation for the Emmies, which happened a couple of days later outside the restaurant, caused the problems we encountered, but this was a pretty mediocre food experience at a restaurant from which I've come to expect much better!
Great place, great service, great FOOD!
Worst experience at Otium I have ever had.
Otium is a great dining experience. Located very close to Broad Museum and within easy walking distance of the Disney Concert Hall and the Ahmanson/Mark Taper Forum. It's an attractive setting and has an outdoor patio so you can sit outside when the weather is pleasant. The food is definitely an eating experience. Very interesting menu. While they offer some "big" plates, they have many smaller plates that are good for sharing -- a good idea since it's hard to decide when they have so many interesting things on the menu. We've been there for brunch and for lunch. Plan on going back in the future to try their dinner menu.
Main draw is the Broad Museum, which provides a lot of traffic. Bar and restaurant have upscale and hip vibe considering the number of tourists. Some dishes reflect the creativity of the star chef like the Asian inspired shrimp salad on Romaine lettuce leaves, but others are for the mainstream like grilled cheese sandwich. Extensive wine list. Good bar scene with artisan cocktails. Desserts made in house. Conversation possible if you talk loud.
This is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. It never disappoints!
Our server only came by our table just couple of times throughout the dinner - when taking orders, serving food and handing over the check. Every time we needed something, there were random people work there came and talked to us. Food was just fair nothing wowing. Overall their food was generally on salty side and pretty small in portion. Also Hamachi (appetizer) we ordered tasted pretty fishy.
Lamb sandwich was a tad on the salty side. All else was fantastic.
Excellent high end cuisine, small portions and extremely expensive. A very light pour of average Chardonnay $21.00, that would be close to $100/btl for a wine you can buy retail for $12.00 and they probably pay $8.00. License to steal.
Excellent food and service. A go back for dinner.
The dishes were delicious. We got mostly fish. The stuffed turbot was a bit too salty. Same with the black cod. We really enjoyed the beet salad and hamachi and liver pate and naan. Also the best part was the green pasta.
Food and service was outstanding as usual. One of the best restaurants in LA by far.
Great food and service!!
The food and service were excellent! It is a little noisy but not too bad. I would definately go back
Food taste great. Flavors are quality.
Great. The food and service was amazing.
So this would have been a five star review if it were not for two hiccups. Let’s start with the amazing qualities of this restaurant. Drinks were perfect. Delicious concoctions that weren’t too sweet or too boozey. I had the Chai Dolla Sign which tasted exactly how you might think it would in terms of flavor profile. Spicy perfection.
here is where we had hiccup number one. We had a dinner reservation for 8:30 because we We’re celebrating a 40th birthday and had planned to go to a show after dinner. After having several confirmations with the restaurant about the timing of our dinner we showed up and they told us that they were delayed so we had to wait around for another 30 minutes before we could be seated. Once we were finally seated we enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal. Every appetizer main course and dessert was divine. Next came the second hiccup. We had already decided to pass on the show we Intended to attend so I let the server know that we were celebrating a 40th birthday in hopes that they might bring out a little dessert or ice cream or something with a candle. After spending more than a few hundred dollars on dinner you would think they wouldn’t mind. Well the server decided to bring the candle out on one of the personal desserts that an individual ordered for themselves. Was the birthday girl supposed to breath all over this persons dessert? Barring those two issues, we had a great time.
Amazing!!! Food was great !! waiters were super nice and overall everything was great
A great place for a special birthday dinner. Only downside, and it was minor, is that it was a bit noisy. Next time I’ll request an outside table. Food and service was outstanding.
Scrumptious meal with outstanding flavor profiles. Seated promptly. Great service.
I was a little disappointed that the waiter was not aware of my food allergy beforehand.
