seating could be less cramped- I don’t mind the communal tables but the seats should be spaced out more.
Lives up to the hype, great service, delicious food I'll be back!
The food is imaginative and delicious as you would expect. But this branch suffers in comparison with Spitalfields or Rovi because of the limitations of the narrow space, which has been filled with a long communal table. This is too wide for couples to comfortably sit across from each other, and the place settings are somewhat crowded. Combined with a preponderance of hard surfaces, and a clientele that can be a little self-important, you get a potentially very noisy atmosphere, rather at odds with the subtlety of the food. If you can get one of the few tables for two, fine, otherwise this branch is hard to wholeheartedly recommend.
It was my birthday and I enjoyed the meal and experience very much The staff was friendly and the food was delicious.
lovely food and worth the visit. If you don't like sharing the long tables then specify your own table when booking
Ottolenghi has been my favourite restaurant for years and it continues to be. I love it and the service is always absolutely brilliant.
Casual, not too loud that you can't hear the person across from you. The communal tables aren't annoying as can happen in other restaurants, you aren't elbow to elbow. Just watch your knees if you get seated next to a table leg... I saw stars when I banged mine on it. Food... the veggies were the stars of the show, though the pork belly was a very close second! Our desserts were good ( we picked 3 different chocolate centric ones) but we all felt that they were a bit on the dry side. Overall, worth the trip to that side of town.
We really enjoyed our meal at Ottolenghi Islington. The food was great and our server was really helpful and attentive. We will be returning.
Constantly diverse interesting flavours. Never disappointed
Loved how fresh and delicious the food was, service was friendly and a lovely atmosphere
Nothing ‘everyday’ about dining at Ottolenghi- always special and always delicious
Spoilt for choice of exquisite tasty dishes, ideal for sharing with fellow foodies. Second to none service in a chic setting. Definitely coming back for more.
First time I have been but thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful pre theatre dinner with 2 friends. Very helpful and friendly staff. An air conditioner above us was just too cool for comfort and it was adjusted immediately with a promise of a different table if it was was still a problem. It wasn't.
I have bought a number of Yotam's books and have enjoyed cooking from them all so I have been keen to try the real thing for a long time. It didn't disappoint and in fact exceeded my expectations. Will certainly make a return visit. Thank you to everyone for making our dining experience so enjoyable.
Excellent food. Friendly staff. Efficient service.
We went before going to Sadlers Wells - Food was great and service excellent...quite expensive when you take in to account the number of dishes/plates you need.
This is by far my favorite restaurant in all of London. Every time I've been here I've been delighted.
A wish fulfilled - aleays wanted to visit and was not disappointed. Delicious food, great service and lively atmosphere.
This was our first time at this particular Ottolenghi restaurant and the food was, as always, phenomenal. Love the tapas style small plates to share, and the relaxed ambiance.
Loved it. Food tastes great and looks fantastic. Nice attractive place to sit, good choices for wine. Would have liked possibility of an aperitif that wasn’t a g and t but small pony. Have give 4 overall since service slightly unconnected: given wrong menus 3 times and an extra glass of wine took a while. Mostly charming and friendly, though. Is I think my favourite north London restaurant
Food excellent highly recommend as always service is excellent
Wonderful, brilliant food creations. Nice wines.
Table and chairs are too low, and not so comfortable.
Visible atmosphere was OK, but noise was too much for our conversations.
Very attentive staff but not OTT. Natural and sincere.
Food as always was amazing. A real treat for a special occasion.
Perfect evening, amazing food and great service what more could you ask for. Will be returning
I know we are in London, but the value for money was not good.
For the size of the portions - tapas size - you will get better value for money elsewhere.
the low tables and chairs, whilst potentially contemporary, don't make for a great relaxed / conversational meal occasion.......must be designed to get the customers turned-over quickly!!
The staff were the best part of the total package.
won't be rushing back
Great meal in lovely surroundings with very friendly and helpful staff. Thanks!
Very relaxed and enjoyable meal . Lovely unusual combinations of flavour and texture . Absolutely beautiful delicate hake dish which was my favourite. Staff pleasant and attentive.
I have a lot of food intolerances so do not eat out much but if I do I need it to be excellent. Ottolenghi is always excellent. Each dish is made with love and no two dishes are the same. This is very high up on my list of favourites and each time I go, the dishes change and there are new and delectable treats on the menu.
To be honest this was not what I would call a great experience. All of the dishes I found to be very expensive, but a small piece of gem lettuce with some microscopic pieces of goats cheese at £9.80 took the biscuit.
It's absolutely wonderful food, that makes what we eat on a day-to-day basis seem mediocre and hardly worth bothering with. I'll be practising the recipes at home.
Really impressed by this place and right opposite the theatre too! I loved the stunning white decor, service was really friendly (even though we got stuck in traffic and were terribly late), wine was exceptional and the food was light, imaginative and delicious. More casual than I imagined but great for a local date night or pre/post theatre with friends.
Great place for a pre theatre meal. Lovely food and very good service
Ottolenghi is a great restaurant, elegant comfortable atmosphere with excellent food. Service was a tiny bit lax the night we were there - but overall a lovely evening out.
Lovely ambiance and very good service, the food was second to none.
Delicious food, subtle flavours, good variety, very good service and cheerful interesting waitress. Perfect for the Almeida. And the price was fair.
Outside it looks like a shop for lovely cakes but when you step in it looks like a marketplace where you can buy your food en sit down while it is cooked for you. And you want to come back for the food, what a taste, I had the vegatarian options and was surprised about the original taste.
Excellent food. Knowledgeable staff. Very uncomfortable seating!
Ottolenghi never disappoints. The cold starters were packed full of imaginative ingredients and the hot items from the menu were delicious. We have been before and the quality of food and service has not changed at all over the years we have been coming.
Overall a great experience - food was delicious and service really good. Recommend for pre-theatre.
Simple products transformed into exquisite dishes. Just want to try them all.
