Excellent, innovative cuisine. Lovely restaurant ambience. Not too noisy.
Yotam Ottolenghi is a genius in kitchen. His food is ALWAYS fresh, adventurous, creative and exciting. Delicious.
The food was very tasty but the service was not the best.
Food not ok Disappointing especially for Italian people
Fried couchette very weird
Our table was right in the corner, with a view on the fire extinguisher and the large bin outside. That was a 'minus'.
But the food is so good that we accept that minus. We're a big fan from Ottolenghi's food.
Food was nice enough but service was let down by mismatched courses delivery Appetisers / nibbles arrived with the mains and desert wine arrived quite a long time after I’d polished off the cheesecake.
Great place for tasty and healthy eating. Plenty of interesting salads to satisfy those is us who are less conscientious about the healthy aspect of eating, but more minded towards tasty, fulfilling and interesting foods. Extra bonus is that they take reservations.
Food is quite good but portions are way too small for the price they charge.
This was my second visit to Ottolenghi Spitalfields. Location is great. I am finding the food is plateauing in some ways. The porchetta was divine but everything else was just ok. Anything that's a "ball" such as a fritter or a kofta (lamb-beef meatball) is DRY. The restaurant could NOT get its act together at all with the bar. We waited FOREVER for any drink we asked for....so much so that I had to think a new bartender was training. This was a Monday night..not even very busy, and all I ordered was a dry Martini and a glass of wine, so nothing difficult. The drinks were so late I was afraid the food would arrive first. They should have been comped.
i chose this restaurant because it looked like what i was looking for for a catch-up dinner with a friend. And it looked cheap with good quality products. We were quite surprised when we arrived since it was more a set-up for a romantic dinner than a friend dinner. Really nice inside with good decor, don't get me wrong. But not what it looked like on the website and not what i actually wanted... Also, the portions were really small, hence the "cheap" price i saw on the website.
also, we were not given the right menus (missing items) and i had to ask for a fork since i had none :/
so overall a bit disappointed, especially for the value and the service.
Great food! Excellent service! Perfect experience! THANK YOU 🙏🏼
Everything I’d hoped for - love, love, love Ottolenghi’s food. The service was attentive, but not overly so. The menu catered for every taste and the food, when served was absolutely delicious. It was a get together for my husband’s birthday and after our meal, he was given a piece of birthday cake complete with candle (but thankfully no singing!) - perfect. Can’t wait to go again.
The shakshuka and salads were outstanding, unfortunately the service did not match - items forgotten and super difficult to get anyone's attention to get it rectified. The food does make this restaurant worth going to but with a bit of polish it could all be fabulous.
I had heard so much about this place so when looking to meet for breakfast near Spitalfields in London this was the job! Well it was ok, but the way they dealt with my friend being gluten free was beyond a joke!
I had provided +24 hours notice and booked saying gluten free, as we arrived the team was on the ball offering a gluten free menu to the person unable for medical reasons to eat gluten; I was hopeful at this stage. Only to hear that they would serve the same menu but without bread on 80% of the menu! Wow! Surely this could be done better this day and age! Embarrassing as I had prepared well and was taking my boss and boyfriend for breakfast- so much for a good impression and preparation.
I hear lunch is better here but now not keen to be disappointed again
We had supper on Friday night. The food was very good. The staff were attentive and welcoming. We would go there again.
Always a great experience here. Unusual dishes very high quality
Very friendly staff, especially these two ladies at reception, let us feel very welcome! Great food choice!
Eating at Ottolenghi has been on my bucket list for ages, so on my latest visit to London from South Africa Ottolenghi Spitalfields was my most important stop. Absolutely the highlight of my trip; delicious vegetarian options, friendly service and a lovely setting. Can't wait for my next visit!
Great food, venue and staff
Great place. Excellent food. Very enjoyable - will return again
Delicious lunch in a relaxed and ambient environment. Excellent service!
Very relaxed atmosphere with no feeling of being rushed. Extremely knowledgeable waiter who was very attentive. Food was delicious and possibly the best I have tasted in a long time. Will definitely return and recommend.
Simply yuhm! Went there two days in a row: dinner, then lunch. Have to say the lunch was even more sensational than dinner. The only thing that can add to the sheer enjoyment is DESSERTS! Obviously the cakes are to die for but a heaven on a plate Ottolenghi meringue-lemon-raspberry-mousse-ice cream-tartlet-pudding-ish kind of concoction to finish off a great meal would be absolutely divine.
Great main courses, but not so fond of the dessert menu. One of our party is a vegan and they let us know which dishes she could eat. Choice was limited for her but the food was nice
Food- You can choose for food from the kitchen or from the counter. At the counter it was possible to see all the dishes and it was mouth watering. We chose a combination of hake and chicken meat balls and 4 salads from the counter, to share. It was very varied, with different kinds of vegetables, spices, and herbs. It was all absolutely delicious!
Service- the two ladies that helped us were super friendly and even though it was quit busy, they took the time for a chat, which we appreciated.
Ambiance- the space is light. The walls and ceiling could really use some fresh paint though.
I would come back for the delicous, healthy food and the friendly service!
We were well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed the lunch
This was my second visit and it was just as good as the first time, wonderful food and attentive but unobtrusive service. My friend and I were able to catch up with each other in a really relaxed atmosphere. Thank you! When are you going to open an Ottolenghi's in Norwich??
After years of following Yotam and trying recipes from the cookbooks it was wonderful to actually have the real thing. The staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating.
The only drawback is that we only went because we had to go via London to visit family, a restaurant in say Manchester or Liverpool or somewhere up north would be very welcome.
Such a lovely place. Amazing food great coffee. Expert service. The quality of the pastries was stunning. The salads looked incredible and wish we could have gone back for lunch. Innovative, imaginative and appetising. 10/10 A++
I went to the Ottolenghi near Piccadilly a few years ago twice and also bought the vegetarian cooking book which I absolutely love. this time I found the food we ordered (all vegetarian) not very interesting and I missed all the spices that are usually in all the plates. I acctually found all of them with little taste what regards spices. Disappointed. loved the cake desert! Service was very friendly.
The service was relaxed and impeccable, we arrived early but quickly a table was cleaned and we were explained the great menu. One of the best lunches I ever had.
Such an awesome dinner with my kids whilst visiting from Australia. Staff were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Totally fresh and delicious food and excellent service. Desserts were just amazing. 5 stars from us!
We had a lovely evening. The staff was really nice and the food was delicious! Especially the straciatella and the carrot walnut cake were very good.
We had a great time visiting Ottolenghi's while we were in London! I love his cookbook and was pleased that the food was just as amazing as it looks in the pictures. I'm also vegetarian and was pleased with a good assortment of vegetarian options. My husband enjoyed the meat, cocktails, and wine as well!
We were severely disappointed by our visit to Ottolenghi. We had selected this restaurant for a meal during our short 3-day stay in London, and looked forward to it, but the combination of poor service, mediocre food, and quite expensive bill lead us to review the restaurant quite poorly. We would not recommend this restaurant to a friend - there are many better dining options available in London.
This is my favourite restaurant. Everything is outstanding. Service is excellent. Food delicious and extraordinary. It is always, always excellent.
Delicious lunch, imaginative and thoughtfully prepared. Polite and helpful staff who were especially kind in letting us hang around long after we had finished our published slot (30 minutes for lunch). This meant a lot to us as we have both been through very trying times and needed to talk them through as well as enjoy each other's company. Thank you so much.
Took my wife for a beautiful birthday dinner. Wholeheartedly recommend this place. Wonderful food, attentive staff and fantastic atmosphere. We’ll be back for sure.
Superior service! The gf orange almond cake was light and delicious - far exceeded our expectations. Overall, a fabulous celebration for my husband’s birthday.
Excellent as always. The smoked bacon quiche was as good as ever, and the aubergine and nectarine salads were a splendid accompaniment. Loved the ginger/lime drink and the pineapple cheesecake too. And good to have the three of us on our own table, rather than having to share with a large party.
