What Insiders Are Saying
Ottolenghi is a casual restaurant and deli that serves fresh Middle Eastern-influenced food, pastries and excellent salads.
Really lovely atmosphere and great reaction to us bringing two under 2s with us. Super lovely and helpful and a really tasty brunch!
Food was outstanding, best Ottolenghi restaurant so far. Service was very good - very friendly, informed staff who made you feel relaxed, but also extremely knowledgable about the menu and wine list. Great service and very thoughtful as they brought out a cake as they knew it was our anniversary. The only reason I gave 4 rather than 5 stars is because they seemed understaffed on the floor and so we had to wait to get people's attention, and there was quite a long wait between courses. A small gripe which definitely wont be what we remember- food and staff were fantastic. Definitely recommend.
Extremely tasty, and very polite, correct, friendly service. Even under the very busy circumstances, there was still time for a little chat and joke.
We loved it! The food was exelent end the staff was friendly!
Really interesting food. Perfect place if you feel for a meal that’s a bit on the adventurous side.
The first dish we were served, a salad, had an insect in it, which was pretty disguising. Apart from being brought a new salad, no special offer or concession was offered to us to make amends. When we raised this with the manager, she told us that this may have been our own fault, albeit she did remove some of the items from our bill.
This bug incident could have been cleared up if the staff had taken action immediately so as not to impact our experience, but the way it was handle left a bad taste in our mouths. We paid a lot of money to enjoy this restaurant but obviously the management didn't feel that this was something they needed to address to show us the respect we'd expect at any establishment, regardless of price.
Good food, friendly staff who were a bit busy
Fine for lunch wouldn’t be so good for a quiet meal out!
Delicious food and attentive service. Bit loud at times
Delightful venue. Delicious food.
Excellent service, couldn't have been more welcoming.
Lovely sharing plates. Busy but not too loud. Recommend for special occasions.
As ever it was very good. The salads are delicious, preferred those with seasonal ingredients. Shame about the power cut, meaning no coffee so we skipped dessert too.
Fantastic dining experience for my mother's 70th birthday.
Delicious food as always!
Service is usually excellent, it wasn’t on this occasion.
I enjoyed the experience but felt that it was not great value given the portions and lack of carbs .
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff were very helpful and cheery and the food was everything we expected - deliciously tasting and innovative menu.
It was my second time at this restaurant and I can’t prise it enough. Outstanding food - absolutely loved it. Will definitely go again when in London.
Excellent food and extremely nice staff. The atmosphere was very nice & cosy.
Fabulous food, great service and nice ambience all added up to a wonderful evening
Went to Ottolenghi Spitalfields for my Wife's birthday. Food was excellent especially the bream dish and the Chocolate, Ricotta and Hazelnut cake. Well worth travelling to for a special meal
Plats excellents. Service rapide et efficace. Très bonne adresse.
Excellent food and service. Staff welcoming and friendly. Food delicious.
Loved it all!
However, I did not appreciate the inclusion of the suggested gratuity in the bill. Suggested shouldn’t mean included. I should have been given two totals and allowed to select the one I felt confortable with. The total of my bill included the suggested gratuity...that doesn’t make it suggested...it makes it included. It’s a bit sneaky
Absolutely delicious, fresh food. The flavour combinations in all the dishes were superb.
Qualità cibo molto buona così come la presentazione. Servizio un po scortese e approssimativo.
It was soooo good! We are totally Ottolenghi fans my husband and I, and wasn’t disappointed! We have now the two lasts book that were missing and are so happy!
Lovely meal. Delicious food and great service/atmosphere. Think the food is slightly overpriced and the portions too small.
We were served by Rui the waiter, who was absolutely excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Food delicious as usual. Really unusual combinations that worked. Think the wine and cocktail list is a bit pricey, but food is reasonable. Nice ambiance, although hard to hear above the general hubub.
We loved the shakshuka and dutch pancakes, very good quality and nice presentation. However, most of the waiters were not welcoming or very polite. A smile and asking if everything was ok would have been appreciated.
Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Ottolenghi Spitalfields for a celebratory lunch (53rd wedding anniversary). Welcome, food, wine and service all that you would expect from this restaurant group - really great; but paper napkins are a let-down! although we understand the reason.
Excellent customer service always.
Brilliant tasting food.
Ambiance is amazing.
Definitely recommend for breakfast , lunch, coffee and dinner
Decor is so tranquil
Delicious salads. I did find the noise to be very loud, but when the restaurant thinned out a bit it improved. Very strong coffee.
Amazing experience. Food was stunning. The best meal out I've ever had.
Lovely. We accidentally arrived early and were accommodated. Food was delicious.
Always fantastic flavoursome food. Well presented in a minimalistic setting.
Lovely meal with a friend - generous portions of delicious unique food. We both had chicken with two different salads, with some breads to share and carrot cake to share for dessert. All superb. What made it extra-special though was the waitress - attentive without being overbearing, she glided by at intervals to refill our water and wine glasses, and was friendly and informed. Thank you.
Did not disappoint! Big fan of Ottolenghi recipe books and never eaten one of his restaurants before! Would definitely recommend!
A friend and I visited this week. Original and delicious food, freshly prepared, and such welcoming staff.
Highly recommend, but don't want too many people reading this in case we can't get a table next time!
Second visit to Ottolenghi. The location in Spitalfields is hip and the space is modern and attractive. We were seated promptly and served enthusiastically by a waiter who guided us to a very nice Palestinian wine (who knew?). We ordered 5 dishes: the Aubergine (good), the watermelon radish (exceptional), cauliflower (outstanding), leeks (average) and butternut squash (excellent). It was a little too much food, especially since the cauliflower dish is so filling. Ottolenghi is fairly priced for the quality of the food and might even be regarded as a bargain in terms of destination dining.r
Outstanding quality, thought and taste in the food - we expected this and were not disappointed.
Surprised by the value for money as well - dinner for 2 only 90gbp with drinks. Already re-booked for a second try..................
