Stunning food in a low-key, casual setting. Friendly and knowledgeable service. Highly recommended!
My husband and I had a fabulous lunch in Ottolenghi’s restaurant! The food was sublime! The service was efficient and seamless!
However the price of the meal ran away from us! We didn’t understand that there was 20% VAT due to be paid nor that there was a discretionary 12.5% service charge ( which in fact wasn’t discretionary).
The meal which came to £49.75 before these extras suddenly became £67.16!!!
It was a very special treat to be there but an expensive one!
Restaurant has no ambiance, prices are high ($120 for three). Food doesn’t live up to prices: broccoli and green beans were nearly raw, salmon undistinguished. Last, to get a reservation you have to book through OpenTable, who will send you at least 7 emails saying “You have a reservation!” and “The day is coming!” and “How was it?” That’s about 6 emails too many.
As expected delicious food. Unhurried service from I have to say THE most attractive staff in London. The bill might seem a little expensive but I would argue that the portions are large, so tasty and we were offered a take out box to take away what we didn’t manage to finish. Lovely lunch.
Ï love ottolenghi's kitchen. A real p'easjre to be there. Too much noise for me and a too speed service but very good meal.
Amazing food and great value for money. Service perfect. All in all a really wonderful night!
Excellent service and food. We went again for breakfast the following morning.
Came as passionates of ottolenghi cook books and found it as good as done by ourselves.
Loved the food. We all had a main course with two salads. Really imaginative salads. Great coffee and cakes to finish. Quite noisy with some large groups in.
Dinner to celebrate wedding anniversary. Fully booked, felt a bit crowded and noise levels high but food fantastic (loved the corn bread) and friendly, efficient service, though staff clearly hard pressed as evening went on so got a bit slower. Not the place for a quiet romantic meal but would definitely go again.
Put in a table in the corner that was pushed into the heavy velvet curtains which was a bit claustrophobic
I took my partner there for her birthday as she loves Ottolenghi's books. We were not disappointed and the recipes lived up to their reputation. We left feeling more than content and incredibly satisfied, from both the food and the wine.
My sister-in-law and I had dinner here and everything about it was superb: we arrived early so we sat at the bar and were so comfortable there that we decided to stay there. The bartender, Leo, looked after us brilliantly, offering helpful suggestions about the menu and the wine (Italian), and also chatting very pleasantly. He's terrific and a real asset to the place in my view. The food, as always was terrific; we especially liked the stir-fried prawns in coconut curry sauce, which some might think a bit messy because heads and tails need to be taken off with your fingers, but don't let that keep you from ordering an extremely tasty dish.
Thank you to Ottolenghi Spitalfields!
Fantastic food!!! Very friendly staff. 100% recommendation
Incredible food without being at all pretentious.
Allthough I love the recepies of Ottolenghi a lot, I didn't quiet enjoy the visit. Because of the presentation of the food (every thing crammed on a plate) and the bad accoustic of the restaurant. I was a also surprrised that a 12%(!) Tip was allready calculated in the final price.
Two out of three times that I have been here there has been a mix-up with the order and both times, the staff got confused as to how to put it right. Both times I gave up and went along with it (I know I am Scottish, but I’m pretty good with my articulation - maybe not!).
However, the food is always prepared to perfection. Ottolenghi fan.
Ingenious combinations of delicious ingredients make every visit here memorable. Thank you for another wonderful lunch.
Ottolenghi can always be relied upon for super fresh food that stimulates your taste buds with excellent service from engaging staff who really seem to care. The cakes are divine. Even the coffee is excellent. On the downside, I’ve been an Ottolenghi customer for about 10 years and the menu rarely changes, apart from seasonal adjustments. It’s pricey, but you know that in advance. My first time at the Spitslfields restaurant - I normally go to Islington. It’s a lot bigger yet still retains the same buzz, though ladies that lunch are replaced by city workers who lunch.
Yesterday was my first visit to Ottolenghi but I'll definitely be back. The food looked great but managed to taste even better. Lamb and beef as the main with mixed rice as one salad and crushed peas as the other. The flavours were delicately balanced and everything was prepared with obvious skill and expertise. A light but delicious frangipane tart rounded off what was a marvellous experience. Excellent in all regards and certainly not too heavy for lunch. I was celebrating the upcoming birthday of my friend and the occasion was honoured perfectly. If you haven't been then do so soon!
Great food as always!
Wonderful fresh and tasty food in a lovely ambience
Outstanding cakes as always
I'd been wanting to go to Ottolenghi for ages so we went for my birthday. The buzzy atmosphere and reasonable prices just added to a sublime evening. The servers were spot on with their recommendations and we had a plate from each course - perfect quantities and the most gorgeous taste sensations!
Excellent place to have a casual dinner with a friend and catch up over a glass or two. The service was good, although there seemed to be some bias over tables. We really enjoyed the ambience and general feel of the restaurant, the food was outstanding.
Ottolenghi never disappoints. Consistently good food, full of flavour and so much variety. Amazing, I’ll be back as always!
The food superb, the staff really friendly and helpful. Looking forward to my next visit already.
Everything as fabulous as ever but the tables seem to be getting tighter 🤔
We enjoyed every single bite of the creative dishes. We been four (two couples) people and shared ten items out of the menu. Don‘t forget to leave space for dessert ;-).
Visiting London. Couldn’t wait to experience Ottolenghi food. It didn’t disappoint.
The lovely food that you're expecting to get from the master himself. Good service, not really cosy restaurant.
Room very noisy and some tables for 2 very close to nearby tables and so very difficult to hold conversation. Would ask for moore spacious table
It was so amazing! And thank you, Mary, for the birthday brownie with a candle. That was unexpected and super sweet!!!
Perfect as always
The food was really fantastic! My friend had Shakshuka which was fabulous! I had free range chicken and salads from the counter - delicious! The aubergine with the yoghurt was awesome!
The desserts - banana cake as wellas pistachio roll with white chocolate cream and raspberries - were incredible!
We will definitely be back!
Reluctant to rate highly in case it increases the already stiff competition for a table! Do not go here. You will be blown away by the cumin roasted cauliflower. The duck will make you wish your kitchen was broken to give you the excuse to eat out every night. The reasonable prices will force you to question your life choices going to other establishments.
I was expecting fabulous and fresh and exciting flavours and that’s what we got. Staff were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. It was one of the highlights of my trip to London 😍
The food did not disappoint, the chefs are magicians in the kitchen. Duck croquets to die for.
Great menu but a little confusing on the amounts to order but then it is on a tapas theme. The pradron peppers with the labneh and dukkah were delicious.
Fantastic food, great staff, excellent atmosphere.
