Everything was perfect, except for the poor choice of wine. Food was delicious as always.
Innovative recipes and ingredients, every plate was carefully thought out to mix a range of spices and textures. Would recommend the aubergine salad in particular, along with the duck croquettes and the lamb fatteh.
Our meal was delicious. Beautifully flavoured and cooked. The cakes for dessert were fabulous, and the price was good. Excellent service throughout.
The food was amazing. Not only in flavour, but visually too. When we asked about dessert wines, the waitress introduced us to another member of staff, that really knew his wines. The ice cider dessert wine was incredible.
Love Ottolenghi but did not rate lunch sat Spitalfields. A limited menu is to be applauded but the expectation is that the main star ie the sea bass or chicken will be cooked well. I the sea bass and my partner, the chicken. Both were over cooked, the chicken was tough. Did not expect the chicken or sea bass to be served cold (accept that is my misunderstanding), they were a kin to canteen quality. To end on a positive, the vegetable salads were delicious and the service good.
Fantastic food, decent service except for the coffees that took at least 15 mins each time. Apparently there was one barrister and a coffee queue of at least 30. This was a minor point. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.
Outstanding food. Especially starters and desserts. Pecan tart to die for!
As expected as I have known this restaurant and have been cooking Ottolenghi recipes for sometime. First visit for our daughter and son-in-law, and they were delighted with the meal. Excellent light rioja which was the cheapest red wine but really good. Delicious mixture of flavours, excellent service.
Fantastic food and amazing service. Will definitely return
delicious food, authentic service and exciting combination of flavours
The food at Ottolenghi's never fails to delight. I can't count the different ways I have been served aubergine! On this occasion the carrots were also sublime.
Busy but not too loud. Good atmosphere.
Will be back...
Staffs are very kind but they took so long serving time.
Good cauliflower recipe and nice croquets, not a lot of quantity though...
Good food, Good service and nice restaurant. But the noise is terrible.
Excellent and very different food combination which we really enjoyed. Good service in a casual laid back restaurant.
Food was amazing, attentive seamless service. Everyone was very happy with the whole experience.
We really enjoyed our visit - the food was delicious, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. I’ve wanted to visit for a long time and I wasn’t disappointed.
Inspiring cuisine, accommodating staff , and an afternoon meal that exceeded our expectations. 5 star treat!
Well known but not pretentious. Warm environment in the restaurant and kitchen counter. Interesting and exciting vegetable forward menu
Quite expensive for what we received, however the food was delicious. Our drinks were empty for a while and had a hard time getting the attention of the wait staff to get more.
High end price for average & standard Mediterranean food, which is lacking in creativity. Service was hit or miss. Noisy and uncaring serving staff. Would not recommend and will not return.
Great food with amazing flavours. Warm reception and friendly staff. Recommend for lunch or dinner as they are both different dining experiences.
Always spot on for brunch. Never let's down out of town visitors. The charred focaccia is something else...
The food was fantastic : great mixes , tasty, a really good surprise . The wine were good. The restaurant is nice and airy. Service is nothing special, the usual London efficient and business like , in a hurry to get your bill and get you out of the way for the next party to get their time slot. Deserts are surprisingly boring and uncreative, nothing mediterranean about them, doesn't fit with the rest of the menu. In addition the three of us have had a small indisposition afterwards and we suspect the lamb. We question the fact as well that cold starters that waiters prepare are presented in the middle of the shop area where there is a lot of traffic and anybody can come and go and touch the food , without any protection. It did not feel very hygienic.
It had just started to rain when we arrived 15 minutes early, yet they found us a table and apologised for the fact it was a small one.(it was perfectly big enough for three. The salad dishes on display wetted our appetite, and after some sparkling water we chose our dishes; some hot some from the selection of salads. Flavour is what Ottolengi excels at. In both the hot dishes and cold salads the flavours of the Levant, and spices from the orient blend to give each dish a unique mouth stimulating adventure.
The staff are friendly and helpful but not over attentive and you never feel rushed despite how busy the restaurant is .we shall certainly be back in the future.
Very poor wine list by the glass - more attention should be put to review the wine list and include good quality/value choices.
Superb breakfast - excellent food and service. Recommend.
Staff were wonderful as was the food. best place for a dinner or lunch which is a little bit special.
Salads were nice and staff friendly but chicken was rubbery, salmon was over cooked and banana cake was dry and dense. Disappointed after loving the cook books.
The salads were lovely as ever - unfortunately I chose a goats cheese tart which was quite unpleasant - thick pastry, heavy tasteless cheese - I can make a better one myself! I do think the wine by the glass is a bit overpriced.
Good breakfast, good choice. Friendly service e
Lovely food usual ingredients and combinations. ...................
We always head to Ottolenghis for lunch when in London where we are assured of great food, fantastic service & welcoming atmosphere. Never lets us down
Great evening lovely food thanks!
Had a delicious lunch here on Monday. The food was outstanding, waiting staff friendly and helpful. Good advice regarding wine choice. Would recommend and definitely visit again.
Loved and followed Ottolenghi for years and his food definitely lives up to the hype. Delicious original and well priced with a good wine selection.
Delicious food and drink. Service a little cold and frosty.
The service was exemplary. Excellent communication and attention. However, following the cocktails & padron peppers the meal took a downward dive. The trout steak was heavily laced with bones rendering it a minefield to eat. The closure of patisserie were dry, so much so that even the crème anglaise could not revive it. The first time in my existence I have left a dessert unfinished. Quite disappointed by the end. Hope Yotem doesn’t get wind of this.
As usual, Spitalfield did not disappoint... there are always new creative ideas to be discovered. This autumns revelation for us: the herb salad accompagnying the fish and the lovely duck crocettes.
We´ll come back for sure.
