What Insiders Are Saying
Ottolenghi is a casual restaurant and deli that serves fresh Middle Eastern-influenced food, pastries and excellent salads.
Great service although the waiters seemed understaffed
Food is amazing
Such a great experience! I was so happy to get reservations. The food was simply outstanding. The presentation was great. So many wonderful flavors.
Delicious as every time, we will come again and again and again and ................................................
Amazing food, great service and a very nice venue!
I came with a vegan expecting plenty of choice for both of us , but even most of the salads were unsuitable for a vegan. My food was Ok but not as good as I was expecting.
Sensational in every way! From the moment we entered we were provided with gracious, enthusiastic service. Joseph expertly guided us through the menu and wine selection. Every dish offered unique flavors, contrast and balance. I came away almost overwhelmed by taste! Thanks for a memorable evening.
Good very good
Very small portions - expensive for the amount . You need at least three dishes to feel satisfied .
Amazing food combinations. Excellent experience all round. Quirky part of London.
Service was very slow. Two items were missing from our selection.
I’ve been cooking from Ottolenghi’s cookbooks for the past ten years but I’ve never eaten in one of his restaurants. Ottolenghi Spitalfields exceeded all of our expectations. The food was just fantastic. The staff were brilliant; attentive, great recommendations and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. I only wish we’d come here sooner so we could have visited a few more times whilst we were in London. AMAZING! Do yourself a favour and go!!!!
Fabulous service and delicious food
Enjoyed all especially the duck croquettes....full of delicious meat
Only comment is the portions are small so we didn't have enough to eat as we were on a time limit so couldn't order more
Love this place! Never disappoints
The food was fabulous as always!
However, the table we were seated at felt like it was in the middle of a thoroughfare with customers going the shop and staff moving back and forth between the cold food and the main part of the restaurant.
Ironically, with all the staff moving past us, we had to ask for multiple things and even though the waiter double-checked, one of our food orders was still incorrect when it arrived. At one point, we saw our waiter working behind the bar. We definitely felt ignored.
a spice-explosion woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
The service was very good and the waiter made sure we were constantly looked after but the space between the tables was a bit of a let down, it was too overcrowded for my liking- the tables were just too close to each other such that there was no privacy between guests, we could all hear what other guests were talking about. The food was okay but definitely not value for money.
As happy owners of an Ottolenghi cookbook we absolutely HAD to visit one of his eponymous restaurants during a recent city trip. And we were definitely not disappointed. The food (a.o. Mixed Green Beans, Caramelized Fennel, Duck & Plum Croquettes, Beef & Lamb Kebab and a marvellous Oat & Date Bar for dessert) was delightfully delicious and a culinary treat for all our senses. Besides that, the staff was extremely cordial and attentive. All this comes at a certain price, of course, so this is something to be taken into consideration. Overall, we had a perfectly pleasant evening and will definitely do it again as soon as the next opportunity arises.
Excellent as always
Variety of delicious fresh salads.
Always buzzy atmosphere but not too loud
Great wine and cocktails
Good food, but very noisy. Early Saturday AM and already filling up with parties.
Too noisy for me.
Our first dining experience at Ottolengi, I enjoyed the explosion of flavours and different dishes. Will come back.
Absolutely delicious food with amazing service. I couldn't praise the waiting staff highly enough, the service we had was perfect from all of the staff that we spoke to .
Great place, I keep on coming back and introducing others to it. Food is fresh, very high quality and bursts with surprising, elegant flavors.
Such a treat for the eye and taste buds. My first full Ottolenghi experience was a great one. Service was also exceptional.
Service and food outstanding as usual. It’s a must do in London. Next trip Nopa snd Rovi.
Superb food, excellent service; each dish was 100% fresh with unique ingredients
Imaginative dishes using more unusual veggies - so tasty
The general salad wasn't very fresh and the bread a bit burnt. Otherwise service was pleasant and location good. A little noisy as tables are too close from each other.
delicious beautiful food, friendly charming service - always pleasurable.
I took my friend for a 50th birthday lunch treat. The food was delicious and service was excellent. The waitress thoughtfully delivered the dessert with a candle in it the finish of our special afternoon.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and a very helpful waiter. One of my favourite places to eat.
Ottolenghi does not disappoint. This place is awesome. Nearly every dish we had was my "favorite." Perhaps my most favorite was the duck croquette... or the lamb meatball... or the eggplant with the green chilis and pomegranate... Not sure - it was all fantastic. The carrot cake was incredible as well, and I consider myself somewhat of a carrot cake connoisseur. Out of the 9 dishes and desserts we ordered total, there was only one that I wouldn't order again and even that wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as everything else (the hazelnut cake with chocolate chunks).
The food was amazing some of the best I've ever eaten! The service was also great the waitress was friendly and attentive. The only thing we thought was strange was vat being added to the bill at the end came as a bit of a surprise.
Poor service and too loud.
Good choice of food & beverage
Great food amazing flavours yum! The menu was just great loved the shop too. Will be back
It was lovely food, I really enjoyed it. But there was a mix up with our booking. We booked for 3 people and they only reserved space for 2. Seating the extra person seemed to cause them a lot of stress which they seemed to imply was a stress I’d given them. I checked my booking confirmation and I’d booked correctly. I was happy to sit at a small table, but this seemed to annoy them. The table servers were very nice, but there was a long wait for coffee so we’d finished our desserts before they came. All in all I would go back, but with lower expectations.
This was the second time we had this waitress and she was fantastic. She made sure we had a fabulous time and gave us great recommendations.
Food was excellent but service was not very hospitable, quite stressed waiter. The acoustics were terrible we could barely have a conversation between the four of us, so we weren't a big party. But we enjoyed the food very much!
The food was truly amazing and so interesting as we had hoped. However... it takes one unsatisfactory element to spoil a night. Unfortunately we had a waiter who seemed aloof and who appeared disinterested in us a group. He wasn’t engaging at all and advised us badly on how much food to order. This is resulted in us leaving unsatisfied. We didn’t order more as the mains took about 30 minutes to come out. We headed to the 24hour bagel shop close by to satiate ourselves. So disappointed as we had been looking forward to it for weeks.
Great food as usual but the service was a bit disappointing. Which was not the case previously
Love the food!
Very good service and good value for money.
My favourite lunch restaurant.
Very good and felxible reservation process with the reataurant.
Friendly and good welcome and introduction.
Very good food and service.
As the food is served quite quick and it is quite loud you shouldn't come here to have a relaxed or romantic evening (from the perspective of a non Londoner)
