I booked this hotel, as I wanted to impress my two American ladies that I have never met before. We walked from Convent Garden from the Ivy Grill to the Langham hotel for High Tea with a glass of champagne. We were not dissapointed, my two American ladies, were over joyed at the service and the afternoon High Tea that we had, it was absolutely delicious. I had a requested for the Saxophone musician to play "Misty for me" which I recorded.

Yes, with a but. The food is a bit underwhelming (sandwiches) though dessert is great. The champagne is great and the tea is free-flow! Still, a bit on the pricey side.

I have tried over 20 afternoon teas in London and the Langham afternoon tea has now gone top of the list. It’s the little details that make the difference in an afternoon tea and this is where they excelled. From the bag rest for your handbag to the take away boxes and crockery it was outstanding. Offering a top up on tea or a complete change of the tea chosen, additional sandwiches and/or scones and a fabulous little complimentary cake for a friends birthday. Catering for pescatarian needs was exceptional, rather than doubling up on the same vegetarian sandwiches (which I’ve experienced in a number of 5 star hotels) they actually provided freshly made alternatives that were not only innovative but also very tasty. Scones were delicious and light and lovely and warm. The pastries were on another level, flavours and textures that were a fantastic mix for such tiny bites and looked sensational too. I’ve marked only one star off on service as the head waiter was perhaps a little over attentive - not really a negative but when trying to have a conversation and being interrupted to check everything ok and how the tea is going more than a couple of times was just a little much - again not being over attentive is not really negative but the only small point that was not 100%. For a traditional afternoon tea this so far is number 1 in London for me - really impressive in every way!! (The live piano music was also lovely - sometimes the pianist can be ignored in these venues so wanted to mention him as was also great and added to a wonderful afternoon)

There is a new special menu (£35 for 3 courses) with a great selection. I had the mackerel starter which was very delicate followed by the ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta served with the most beautiful cheese sauce. Heaven! Really excellent food, the service was fabulous and the Palm Court was super relaxing listening to the live jazz playing softly in the background. All in all, a great experience and I will definitely be back to try the other dishes.

Absolutely Fantastic!! We had afternoon tea for my sisters birthday and everything was brilliant from the moment we entered the building. The staff we attentive and very helpful, the food was delicious and the pianist was incredible. The seating arrangements were formal but had a relaxed feel to them and the hall itself was stunning. Would definitely recommend and will be going back. In my opinion far better than the Ritz!!

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at the Langham. The tea is served in beautiful surroundings with a pianist playing in the background. The food was delicious and there were a number of tea varieties to choose from. Unfortunately the service was very slow and we felt slightly forgotten about in our corner table. As we weren’t hurried out and were allowed to stay longer than the allocated 1.5hrs it didn’t matter too much but at these prices I expected better and it fell short of the level of service provided in similar establishments.

Great kids afternoon tea. We went for my daughter's 3rd birthday and she had the time of her life. Afternoon tea itself was delicious, and we were offered extras for the pastries we liked the most, which was so kind of the staff. The egg salad brioche balls were out of this world!

I have had much better value for money at other venues. Was very disappointed with the pre drink in your bar. We waited around 20 minutes to be served even though the bar was not very busy. There was no elderflower tonic, plain tumbler glass used rather than a gin glass and no stirrer to mix the drinks. Very disappointing for the price paid and especially as it was a 50th birthday treat for a friend. We had arrived in plenty of time for a pre-drink before our afternoon tea, but ended up rushing our drinks due to the wait for service.
The food was nice, but feel it is much better when presented on a centre stand for you to help yourself instead of being placed on plates. Staff were very courteous, but very difficult to understand. Although we were told we could choose different teas throughout the afternoon, we were not offered much opportunity to re-order and at one point were served a black tea instead of the requested berry tea. Having requested our bill at the end, we again waited a long while and no one brought it to us. We decided to leave and see if we could pay elsewhere and on approaching the door to enquire where we could pay, the waiter came over to us and we stood amongst other diners to pay, which was;t ideal. All in all, we were disappointed considering the cost.

We brought our five year old granddaughter for tea last week and it was a delightful experience. We are in London often and The Palm Court is always a favourite of ours during the day or evening. The staff were especially welcoming and Charlotte loved the afternoon. She actually said that she loved that it was so fancy!
Thank you again for helping us to make memories for her. We will be back again.

We had the afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday with my husband and my 4 year old daughter. The kids afternoon tea menu was lovely and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the sandwiches and said the cakes were the best she's ever had! It was also great that they had books that she can borrow to read whilst enjoying the tea. The adult afternoon tea sandwiches were very nice. Had too many sandwiches to properly enjoy the cakes scones that followed. The scones were fresh and soft so I wished I could have had more but I did find the cakes a little too 'complex' in flavour so didn't enjoy it as much as the others. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating but they did seems a little disorganised and at times communication between themselves were not great so we had people asking the same questions or we had to ask again for something we've already asked for. Maybe need more training as a team. Overall we were very happy with our food and the experience and would recommend to anyone.

I took my sister her for her birthday - I wanted to treat her to a traditional High Tea that she wouldn’t experience with friends. What a let down. The atmosphere was dead. The server was clearly disinterested. The sandwiches were good, all the other food was bland and tired. The desserts are not traditional and are not particularly tasty. The scones were fine but that’s not really impressive. The only redeeming feature about this place is the interiors/decor. I am shocked it has done so well up until this point. I would not recommend or go back ...unless it is completely revamped. In three words I’d describe this place as expensive, overrated and unenjoyable.

This is the fifth time I have been - have always recommended to people as best afternoon tea, but really disappointed today. Food not half as good as usual and service so slow - tea not refilled until had asked twice, sat with jam and cream for half an hour but no scones. As service was so slow the children became really bored. won’t be coming or recommending again.

We had an afternoon tea at this restaurant. It's my first time having this in London so I cannot compare with any other hotels. The ambience is definitely perfect. The quality of food and drink are fantastic. However, compared with the price we paid for about 60 pounds per person, it's quite pricey though. With this price, I think they should compliment with a glass of champagne or sparkling wine.

Remarks:
I didn't think to mention, at the time of booking, that I do not eat chocolate.
It would have been nice to have my chocolate sweets exchanged for non-chocolate sweets.
Further, it would be nice to have the possibility for a second plate of sweets.
