About

With imposing signage over its Lavender Hill door, Panahar Indian Restaurant might be hard to miss but that doesn’t mean it isn’t occasionally overlooked. In an area where restaurants can be found at every turn, this is a place you can rely on. Shunning fad for a classically sophisticated look, the dining room at Panahar is simply put together with polished wooden floors, a black and white decorative scheme, contemporary lighting and attractive artworks over each table. Accordingly the waiters are dressed to the nines in white shirts and black bowties, each one friendly and professional, serving meals picked from a large menu which gives an excellent overview of those Indian dishes that we all love – from Biryani to Tandoori.

The service was held together by the manager, his waiter gave the impression , that he absolutely had no interest in his work.

We had a birthday celebration and the food was excellent. The waiter recommended a fish dish which was really tasty and original. The staff were very kind and attentive. The restaurant prepared our birthday cake with candles and offered liqueurs and chocolates to finish. Great evening - thank you. wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends. We'll be back soon.

Service slow and laboured, food can only be described as average at best. However, when I returned the bill that did not include the booked 30% off and had in bold letters SERVICE NOT INCLUDED it returned much later with service NOW INCLUDED and only £6 less than the original bill of £45, that doesnt look like 30% off to me. When questioned I was told that they ALWAYS include service for those booking through TT (not what the offer says), when asked to take off service (if it could be called that) they actually refused and when I said I will be writing a less than favourable review told to "go ahead and do it". Hmm, POOR SERVICE, SO SO FOOD, NOT HONOURING THEIR OFFER, BAD ATTITUDE and now RUDENESS, I will be taking this up with TT, AVOID!

The service was so-so. A bit lacklustre. I've had better Indian food too.

The restaurant was really nice with nice decor, we went on a week day evening so it was very quiet with not that much of an atmosphere. However, service was very quick and the food tasted really nice. I would def visit again.

I was looking for an Indian restaurant close to Clapham Junction for a group booking. Restaurants close to major railway stations can often be lacking, and so I was pleasantly surprised that the Panahar's ambience and food were fine - nothing amazing, but not bad. What let them down, however, was the poor quality of service. Even though the only other people in the restaurant was one couple, it took an age to take the order. One waiter even walked away in the midst of my friend ordering her drink! So on balance, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant unless they seriously improve the customer service but if you are stuck for location and really want Indian food then it's okay.

We went to Panahar Indian on Tuesday for my boyfriend's 26th with 8 friends. The place was completely empty apart from us and they still weren't able to provide any good service. In fact, they weren't expecting us (despite booking) or helpful when we arrived. The food was ok, my friend had to approach them to ask for a second round of drinks after we'd had empty glasses for a while and all in all a pretty poor experience. Oh, we did get a free shot of Baileys each!

Enjoyed a group meal at Panahar in Clapham Junction on a busy Saturday night and the service matched the excellent food. Will return.

We enjoyed a tasty dinner at Panahar Indian Restaurant. The service was efficient, but not particularly friendly, and the place had a pleasant ambiance. Wouldn't recommend for a special night out, but very pleasant for a quick, value for money dinner.

Was good food and friendly service, i would go back here again if i was in Clapham for a curry! My boyfriends curry could of been a bit hotter as he likes it with lots of chillies, but it was still tasty, went home feeling full and with the farts!
