Disclaimer: It was Valentines Day evening and they seemed short staffed to boot.
And, yes this place was quiet enough for conversation.
But:
Only prix fixe dinner available. No other menu.
Numerous entrees and desserts were sold out by 9:00 pm
Shrimp cocktail: limp, small, flavorless shrimp and a meager teaspoon of cocktail sauce.
Pork "filet mignon": tepid, mealy, flavorless.
Chicken breast: same: tough, room temp, dry, unpleasant.
Volcano cake: ok but accompanying ice cream was riddled with ice crystals and low on flavor. Other more appealing choices were sold out.
The baguette and butter were good.
The waitstaff were overworked and looked frazzled. They tried hard, but the kitchen part of the meal was very disappointing.

I have never written a bad review of a restaurant for Open Table, and was debating whether to now. I don't want to spoil someone's business, but the thought of another going to this restaurant without this review written would hurt my fellow diners.

I had optimism upon choosing this restaurant. The reviews by previous diners made me feel it should be a good experience.
Perhaps eating there on a Monday was the problem. But a fine restaurant should be great any day they are open and live up to those standards.
The food was atrocious, and many dishes we first ordered from the menu were not available including French Onion Soup, a staple of French restaurants.
And the food we did choose and was available tasted like leftovers from the weekend.
Management there should be ashamed of themselves. One of the most terrible meals all three of us ever had. I feared getting ill from eating the food there, but thank goodness didn't.
DON"T EVER WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AT THIS RESTAURANT.
The ambiance wasn't good either. We should have turned around after walking in. The air itself had a noticeable stale odor.
It was a total waste of money, as we left most we were served on our plates.
The one good thing was the lovely young woman who was our server.
Skip this one at all costs.

We went here for the first time last week, and it was one of the best French meals we've had in a while. The prix fixe lunch menu is a bargain, the portions are surprisingly large, and the kitchen did an excellent job on every dish. We didn't get the server's name, but she worked the whole room by herself and was excellent - very efficient and very pleasant. The only downside to the restaurant were the drink prices ($14 for a screwdriver?), but everything else was great.

Serveuses très sympathiques, lieu sans vraiment de cachet. Trop cher pour une qualité moyenne. Nous avons pris des pâtes. Le plat de ma fille était abominable les pâtes baignaient dans l'huile. Elle n'a pas manger, certes ils ont proposé de changé mais lorsque l'on est déçu on a du mal à se risquer à autre chose...ils auraient pu faire un geste sur l'addition, offrir nos 2jus d'ananas. 62 dollars pour 2plats de pâtes et 2jus d'ananas ça fait cher le kg de pâtes... Bon peut-être que nos sommes mal tombées car les avis présentaient mieux cet établissement...donc je laisse aux clients futurs de faire leur choix...mais pour notre premier restaurant nos étions déçues.

This was an atrocity and while I have been an Open Table member for like six years it’s the first time I’ve had to write about an experience. This is a neighborhood place; came here with a family member plus two out-of-town friends who wanted a solid meal. Now, we were met with l believe the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The food was semi-fair - but all else was a dumpster fire. Only two waitresses who doubled as hostesses and bartenders. It began by one of them searing us and not checking off my Opentable res until reminded 3x. Now, both were surly and clearly did not want to be there this Saturday night (the 20th so it’s not like they were working on Xmas). But surly, no eye contact. One came out to set the table. Had 3.5 full sets of silverware, leaving me without forks. And never came back with them! I had to ask. Also never brought the bread until the meal came. (Did t know they had it or we would have asked. But you bring that out ASAP at a good place.). The first killer was: forgot to give us the wine list. Showed up with it as we were just going to order drinks. Now get this: my friend order a Tanqueray (gin) and tonic. She came back and said they had no Tanqueray. Odd. He asked what other gin they had. She did not know! That’s weird, but at least go check. So he then said “just bring a gin and tonic.” Next, they had a combo of the TV and the music blaring! Both. We asked them to turn it down. (We weren’t the only ones.) it took THREE requests to do this. Even sonthey only turned down the music a bit. I am almost cut off: just want to state she seemed upset to have to take a dessert order, had no idea who ordered when when food came, endless wait for check, never anyone saying “is everything ok,” no drink order, and while the waitresses were alternating with us: they both became more irritated as time went by. It was so unpleasant. Luckily my ap’t building has a newsletter so I can submit this and keep others from such a horrible time.

They accepted our reservation via OpenTable. When we showed up, they informed us that the person who's in charge of OpenTable reservations was not in that day, and that the restaurant was actually reserved for a private event. They couldn't seat us, so we left and found another restaurant.

Requires MAJOR overhaul. The owner was pleasant, rightfully gave us a discount, and said that he would be taking remedial steps in the kitchen - they are absolutely needed. A sizable piece of wire (corkscrew shape) - from a metal pan scourer - was served in one of our pasta dishes. There was no chocolate center in one of our molten lava cake desserts. There was a dead fly in the server's water jug - poured into one of our glasses. Notwithstanding these problems, I would not write home about the food in any event. The number of servers must also be increased - there was just one for the entire restaurant, who had to bar tend as well. She tried her best but one person is quite simply not enough for the size of the place/number of covers. Understandably, the service was very slow and we had to follow up on on everything - our food being brought out, missing cutlery, water refills, and our bill..... The ambiance is pleasant although we could have done without the volume of the music being turned up half way through our lunch. I'm sorry to have to write such a poor review, which I have never needed to do before this experience, but I feel compelled to write it in the spirit/hope that the absolutely necessary changes will indeed be made by the owner.

We arrived at Paname at the time of our reservation and were turned away as they said they had a private party. Very irresponsible of their part not to advise Open Table in advance.
Will continue using Open Table.

Everything about this experience was outstanding. We were a group of 11. The service was great, the menu had something for everyone, and the food presentation was beautiful & creative. Probably most importantly, everything was delicious.
The ambiance was conducive to a group dinner in that it was relatively quiet and certainly unpretentious - i.e. we felt very comfortable . I look forward to going back to Paname French & will certainly recommend it to others.

A veritable disappointment. I found a piece of metal (wire, foil?) in the baby octopus (which seemed more like squid tentacles). The waitress apologized, but it was not her responsibility. Someone in the kitchen goofed. The chicken breast had hard ends as if it had been reheated. The dessert crepes also seemed reheated -- very thick and hard on the edges, with what might have been a caramel sauce and a very thin layer of jam with a smattering of apples. My wife's escargots in baby potatoes were good, as were her lobster ravioli and creme brulee. The raspberry sorbet was excellent, bt the mini-madeleines were dry and almost stale. Opentable listed the prix fixe as $38, but it was actually $45. It would have been a great price if not for the several faux pas. We should not have eaten there at the end of their service -- we got there at 9:15. But that does not excuse the bad food.

We had a perfect time. Surprising in our somewhat jaded experiences with NYC restaurants. We are native New Yorkers and have watched the overall service and quality level descend. Paname raises it up again.

From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was impressed with the way the hostess/waitress greeted me and provided personalized service. While I waited for my friend, I ordered the homemade pate', which was excellent. Afterwards, we shared the bouillabaisse, which was choked full of fresh shellfish and salmon. The homemade fries were "bad", which I believe means good.

This has to be the best value restaurant in NYC. Went for a weekend brunch. The meal options and started mimosa. Incredible prefix menu. Coffee and tea included. Recommending all friends go and enjoy this place. When back in NYC we will return eagerly.

I wish that I could award more than 5 stars! This is, hands down, the best French restaurant we've ever dined at ANYWHERE, and we've been to Paris & France 8 times! From the very extensive Prix Fixe menu, we recommend the baby octopus & escargots, the bouillabaisse & the sole, and any dessert (you get to choose from their regular menu instead of having only a couple of choices!). We also enjoyed our selections from the extensive cocktail & wine list. We will go back in a heartbeat to savor other selections, although I may have to have the babiest octopi as a delicious repeat!

As I had a very enjoyable dinner at Paname one time, I thought I'd go back to see how the lunch was. I ordered the pre-fixe lunch. My appetizer and entree were delicious and had a lovely presentation. My dessert was lovely to look at, but disappointing to eat. I ordered a chocolate volcano..... there was no volcano on my plate. Whenever I've had a chocolate volcano at other restaurants there is a warm chocolate liquid inside the round chocolate cake. I had what was like a chocolate cupcake with 3 thin slices of strawberry and whipped cream on the top. Somebody forgot how to make it. You'll enjoy your food, but choose something else for dessert.

Panama has an attractive interior. The food presentation was just as lovely as it was delicious. I had the pre fixe dinner. Wished I lived in the area as I would have taken part of my entree home ; since I don't I ate it all. The dessert selections were great and my choice was wonderful! The next time I go, I'll just order 2 courses, but it will be hard to decide which 2. The service was friendly and the courses were served in a timely manner. I was even surprised by given between courses a taste of cauliflower soup and a strawberry sorbet to cleanse my palate. How delightful!

Great service, good steak- otherwise not so great. Cold potatoes and vegetables, soupy creme brûlée- cold espresso. Loud music mixed with blaring MSNBC at the bar made for a loud unpleasant ambiance.

We had a group of 4 women on our annual trip to NY City. We had a wonderful meal in a relaxed restaurant. Our waitress was wonderful and even changed the wine we ordered when we didn't like it. I would recommend the restaurant without hesitation.
