It's a solid local option, though i wouldn't go out of my way to pay them a visit. There is simply nothing special about it.
Always amazing innovative food, attentive staff and a warm welcome! A very firm favourite.
Superb service. Friendly staff. Delicious & authentic food.
Really really good food and very friendly, responsive staff
Our second visit here as the curries are unique and delicious. Definitely would recommend and will visit again.
Food, service and atmosphere amazing! So pleased we found this restaurant.
Although lacking a little in booking and organisational skills (I pre-booked for a party of 8. Upon arrival the tables were not ready and then they offered to seat 4 of us at one table and 4 at another), it panned out to be a fine dining experience. The service was quick and proficient. The food is certainly a cut above the rest. Well worth giving the Nepalese cuisine a try.
We love Panas Gurkha Restaurant, and when we had a family birthday party for 7pp there was little doubt we'd return there. Fabulous Nepalese food (and some pretty tasty Indian standards, too), great service and very reasonable in today's world. Go for the Nepalese specials (one favourite is the Chicken Hariyali ?), they're all great - and the Momos are better than any I had in Katmandu. We had other Nepalese 'chefs specials' which were terrific too, but can't remember their names. Super manager, too.
I've passed this restaurant numerous times so when I read the reviews I decided to give it a chance. Friendly service which was good and prompt but was most impressed with the food. I had the samosas to start which were plentiful and delicious followed by one of the recommended
dishes Garlic chicken. This did not disappoint at all.. We will definitely be back
We found this place by chance and have now been in there 2 weeks in a row. Really really good Nepalese food with all the usual Indian offerings. Will definitely be our new regular place to go. Must try the momos!
We had a fantastic dinner here on a Saturday night. The food is clearly homemade and the flavours had real depth. Cannot recommend this place enough. Even though it’s the other side of Lond for me (I live out west) I will be back.
Fantastic family feast! We had a lovely meal. We have been a couple of times for family events and Panas Gurka never disappoints. The staff are professional and friendly and the foods is delicious.
Our meal was excellent. Every dish that came to the table was delicious; each had its own unique spicing and flavour. I can't wait to return and try more from the menu along with a cold Gurkha Beer.
Yet again we had a wonderful tasty meal with quality ingredients and great cooking! Add to that the warm and friendly service from all of the staff there and we really just couldn’t fault a thing!
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and excellent service. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
The food and service at Panas was fantastic -- highly recommend the lamb and pumpkin curry! Only slight annoyance was the constant (loud!) ringing phone, but that was probably for take-away orders which shows it's popular -- and for good reason. We'll absolutely be going back again. And again ;o)
Food was really lovely, full of flavour and plenty of choice on the menu. Ideal for groups and dates. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a rush so this didn't bother us as much. Nice, smiley staff and the price was decent for what you got. Would definitely recommend.
I am so impressed with Pannas. I love quality Indian food and theirs is outstanding. Great wine and beer list too. Thank you for making my daughter's 18th birthday memorable.
Another great meal at Panas Gurkha, this time with my parents, who are still raving about it.
The food is always great, full of flavour and not just your average ‘curry house’ menu (although they do have the standards).
The staff are friendly, and knowledgeable, they recommended a fantastic starter for my dad, some sort of bbq style chicken, which he then had to share with us all!
Definitely worth making the trip, although they also deliver locally.
Found this Indian restaurant via Google, a bit apprehensive as was taking a new friend.
Shouldn't have worried the food was superb, the service good. The ambience was great and it wasn't expensive.
We over ordered as you never know the porton sizes at a new restaurant, but they were quite large - still no problem they happily gave us a doggy bag
Good food, with some more unusual dishes. Always great service.
Very tasty starters and mains. I was happy with the fact that the request to turn up the heat in the food was taken on board and it was served with an authentic spicy and hot flavour. Friendly and respectful staff. Overall a very good experience for our first Nepalese food experience and will return.
Just fabulous. Amazing authentic Nepalese dishes. The staff are very attentive.
The food was excellent and the waiters were very friendly.
Very friendly service, delicious food and excellent price. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
The missus and I were recommended the restaurant and made our first visit in April 2016. We were not disappointed. The ambience, service, food and whole dining experience was excellent. I have since recommended it to friends and family, whilst committing to returning in the near future with our daughter. I chose the chilli chicken for a lively opener, while the missus feasted on calamari. We shared zimbu and hariyali chicken dishes with sides for main courses, all of which were plentiful, succulent and enjoyable.
The service was very pleasant indeed : Attentive but not intrusive. The menu carries chef's specials and I tried tandoori lamb - described as dry lamb with green rice. The seasoning was subtle and I was pleased with the taste and presentation but it was as dry as the menu suggested and I was glad to be able to share a delicious aubergine and potato dish to add some moisture. Some problem in the kitchen meant we waited nearly an hour to be served but the waiter apologised very nicely and gave us a free beer. We enjoyed ourselves and I somewhat admired the cooking but we were a bit unlucky about
Delicious food and not your run if the mill curry - some regional speciality dishes that were really tasty. I feel the food however was pretty over priced - no mains under ten pounds and 3.50 for a naan, for example. Worth it once in a while if you fancy something a bit different but unlikely to become a regular haunt.
If you haven't had Nepalese food, this is a great place to try it. Stick to the Nepalese specials and you can't go wrong. The Nepalese Mo Mos were a lovely starter (veg and lamb, I think) and the main courses were fantastic, especially the Chicken Hariyali and Chicken (Nepalese special, can't recall the name). In my experience, the Nepalese are always charming and this restaurant is no exception - so the service is engaging, friendly and efficient. The vegetarian dishes (Okra, Dall, Saag Aloo) were very good, too. It was pretty good value, too - which is important to us! I would urge you to give it a try, and be brave in your menu selections - the Nepalese specials are NOT to be missed. (Just been to Panas Gurkha again with a party of 7 and all the good things we said in the review above still hold true.)
Having spent a lot of time in South Asia i'm extremely picky when it comes to curry houses. What an utter delight to discover Panas! I've sampled much of the menu and can say that Panas's dishes are consistently among the best Indian/Nepali in London. In particular the famous CHOYOLA CHICKEN is one of the tastiest dishes I've ever come across! On top of that, the service is fast and friendly and I once had a takeaway delivered on a weekend evening is less than 30 mins (unheard of in Lewisham!).
Do go- you will not be disappointed.
This is a wonderful place and we had such a marvellous time celebrating our son's birthday. The staff were extremely friendly, constantly on hand to advise and being attentive.
The food was just incredible and an absolute delight, There were seven of us, so we had a wide variety of dishes and each and every dish was delicious.
If you are in the Lewisham area you must visit this restaurant. As it was a special occasion we had thought about going to Blackheath or the West End of London. I can honestly say that we made the right choice by going to Panas Gurkha as it has all the qualities of a top West End restaurant but with wallet friendly prices.
Looking forward to our next visit already!
I have ordered Delivery and Eaten in at Panas Gurkha Restaurant on many occasions and it still remains the best Indian food experience in the whole area. The service is always extremely friendly, courteous and accommodating. They always make you feel like it is such a pleasure to have your company and then, on top of that, the food they serve is delicious. I have tried many other Indian around Blackheath but none have ever been as good as Panas Gurkha Restaurant .
The worst Indian meal I have had for a long time! Items ordered had still not arrived half way through the main course. Loud shouting could be audibly heard from the kitchen appeared between the owner and kitchen staff. A very unpleasant experience all round!
Starters were great, but we had to cancel the main courses, ordered two types of chicken and it was so dry, we couldn't eat that!!! Also we didn't get any snacks while we were waiting for starters. Also asked for a jug of iced lemon water and waiter braught me a pint with warm tap water. Not gonna go there anymore.
Good food, good service, happy customer
Came here for dinner with a few friends and had a great time. Food and service were both very good. Would definitely come back again!
From the front of restaurant, wasn't sure what it was going to be like, but other reviews said it was good place to eat. Think the restaurant would benefit from a face-lift.
Aside from aesthetics, the staff were great, and the food was impeccable well presented, and most importantly absolutely delicious. Would go again, though I am not local to the restaurant.
Amazing food with some of the best service I've seen in a restaurant; definitely check this one out!
It was my birthday night.Wanted to celebrate this night with my best friend. That is why,I booked a table at panas by top table. Was a little bit confused before reserving table because wasn't any idea about panas restaurants foods and value.I just saw some reviews on online and a few reviews was very bad.On the other hand, there was also outstanding reviews. However, finally i reserved a table.
After going to panas i surprised seeing the environment of restaurant for dinner.Servicing was outstanding .I ordered lamb Momo for starter and for main course i chose jhanuka masu. Truly to say, foods were excellent..I went a lot of restaurants to have but i would keep panas on my top list(Not saying these restaurants were bad).
At last,I Just want to say,I got everything which i expected from a restaurant even more.
We had a party of 7, and we all had good food and a wonderful time. It was also good value.
