We have been regulars at Paperinos for years and have always been happy with the food and service. As a family we enjoy the pizzas mostly (you would have to travel far to match them - possibly Italy) but there are plenty other choices. We often see 3 generations happily dining at sociable -size tables and there are plenty birthday etc celebrations. Our vegan daughter also happy with no fuss required. Wine choices perfect and all staff always friendly. Plenty atmosphere whether weekend or week night.
Food was good and they had their own craft beer which was nice. The place was a bit crowded but it was a Saturday.
Was told the 'Girls Night Out' deal i had booked for was takeaway only despite the website offering a booking link alongside the offer, and having previously used the offer in the same restaurant. Long wait for food, staff disinterested, manager dismissive of uswhile standing just a few feet away from us. Food is ok, nothing special. The restaurant itself could use a refurb, resembles a service station Wimpy, menus very tatty.
Paperinos is someone i have been regularly with my mum, so decided I would take my boyfriend for his birthday as a surprise. We got there and were seated upstairs, the place was busy but a lot of people were finished and leaving. It took the staff about 15 minutes to take a drink order, then eventually our food order, we both got hot starters which arrived in less than 5 minutes, they we ok! Then the main course came, the risotto was tasteless and the chicken init was so hard you couldn't chew it! The garlic foccacia was a complete waste of £9,95 and my boyfriends pasta was dry and against a disappointment!
We sat in the snug which was lovely and cool. Even although it only has three tables we were not forgotten about as there was always a member of staff on hand if we needed anything.
The food was lovely and great value.
Although we utilised a discount voucher we would have happily payed full price for this experience. Excellent food and friendly service. This was our second time and it won't be our last !
After being caught up in the madness of the West End Festival we arrived a little later than the time we had booked however the staff could not have been nicer! The restaurant was pretty busy but the staff remained polite and helpful. I couldn't believe how fast our drinks and food came for it being so busy. We had the bruschetta and mozzarella sticks which were fab! The mains came in good time too - a pasta dish and a chicken ceaser salad. Both tasty - the salad wasn't anything amazing and could probably do witha little change to make it a bit nicer but good all the same. Very reasonably priced as well. I never realised how big the place was - we were upstairs but downstairs is great for families or even a group/party. Overall a lovely experience and we will definitely keep it in mind when over the west end again.
They were very busy yet my wife didn't have time to return from the toilet after ordering and our meal was delivered. It was super large portion and very tasty. The only negative: it was a bit noisy as very full ans lots of kids.
the staff at paperinos byres road, explained the menu patiently and were very attentive to meeting meal needs.
Saturday at 6pm, very busy....service was very good, very child friendly and accomodating, very relaxerd and informal with good food....Just had to wait a wee bit longer than would have liked but undetrstandible given evening rush...
My Fiancé and I have eaten here dozens of times over the past few years, always good service and good food. Nothing to shout about but you always know what to expect. We went this Saturday night with my parents for a meal and it was a bit of a mistake, basically just too busy and loud on a Saturday night. Atmosphere is not good and I felt the quality of food and service was lower than normal. I'm sure we'll be back for Pizza but maybe not on a busy night!
Obviously popular with families. Lots of diners with young children, but big enough to find a quiet space for those who want it. Lots of stairs to the loos, so maybe not so good if you have mobility problems. Excellent food served by cheerful and efficient staff. Good value too.
I was asked to book a restaurant for a works night out. I chose Paperinos for a few reasons.
1. Have been before and had enjoyed my meal so I knew it would be good.
2. Good position on Byers Road as we would be going for drinks after in Ashton Lane.
3. Good restaurant for groups.
We all met in their bar area at the front when everyone arrived we were taken to our table on the top level of the restaurant. The service from our waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal. I will be back in the near future.
Normally a good safe bet but on my last two visits the service has been very slow.
Brilliant restaurant!the food was superb and the atmosphere was great
the food was decent, stuck with the loud and annoying family next to us,forth time i have eaten here in a few months, staff were friendly enough, one of my glasses was cracked at the top but my girlfriend didnt want to make a deal out of it,so i gave in
My experience overall at Paperinos@ Byres Road was good but it could have been perfect if the waiting times had been less. I had to wait 45mins- 1 hour for my food to arrive. Also, when my son went to ask for a children's menue the worker asked his age which I thought was very unprofessional as if doubting him.
Unfortunately, our recent trip to Paperinos for a birthday meal was less than impressive. My expectations were high due to the positive word of mouth of many friends; however, these expectations were not lived up to! We had a table booked at 7.45pm for 6 people. Arriving at the restaurant 5 minutes early, we expected to wait not much longer than that. The gentleman welcoming diners at the door was not very 'customer friendly' and made no communication with us. After waiting 25 minutes and no update on our table (or lack of table) I approached him to which he told me all booths were busy and we would just need to wait until one was free. I understand things can be held up and tables run over and if he had told us that upon arrival we would have been happy enough to sit in an area and wait - but no we were left to stand at the doorway, blocking the entrance. When finally seated, there was a 35 minute wait for starters, followed by a 40 minute wait for mains. The starters were lovely, which filled us with hope for the mains following; however, we were left disappointed. I'm all for 'Al dente' pasta but this was undercooked. The carbonara was tasteless resulting in my friend having to add salt and pepper to try and give it a bit of flavour. Overall, a disappointing experience after hearing so many positive things about this restaurant.
Service was rather slow and I was disappointed in the menu labelling - dishes aren't marked as being gluten free, I ordered a starter which I then couldn't eat as it came wrapped in breadcrumbs no mention of breadcrumbs in the menu, wasn't a great selection of fish either 2 sea bass choices in the main menu. Been years ago but don't think I would go back, we were waiting a while for everyone to be served at the same time, child menu was good value though.
Came to paperinos with husband and 2 daughters. Good was amazing. Great portions for the money and delicious to boot! The tiger prawn spaghetti with garlic and chilli was to die for! Would ergo have that again!
Phenomenal value at Paperino's and great food. Love their pizzas. Can't believe I left it this long to go back. Won't be making that mistake again.
Really enjoyed my full evening on Saturday (valentines night) due to a lovely meal and drinks in paperinos west end. Lovely staff and meal was brilliant, only downside is the toilets are a bit of a trek down steep stairs! Other than that had a lovely night!
My family enjoyed at fantastic night here to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. The food was superb as usual as was the service. Excellent to have the choice of the full menu even though it was Valentines day. Top marks for that. I always enjoy myself when I frequent this restaurant and this is why I always come back.
I was delighted with the service from a young blonde girl, who served us to the best of her ability, she was very polite and apologetic when the food was late, which wasn't her fault. I felt that the starters were all great and no one had any issues. However the mains were not up to the standard we paid for, the gluten free pizza was small and very stodgy, underneath it was very wet. It also tasted bad in comparison to other gluten free pizzas we have tried. Two friends also ordered the penne arrabiata, both dishes were substantially different in size, which wasn't expected. Overall I was hoping for better food, however service was amazing.
The service was great, we arrived half an hour early and were seated straight away!
Menu was great, lots on offer. What we had was delicious, no complaints!
The service was a little slower than some other restaurants we've been to but we saw this as a plus as we had time to chat, time to digest inbetween courses and didn't feel like we were rushed out at all.
Food timeously served which would suggest pre heated. Seated next to the toilet. Big no no! On arrival we waited to be seated over 5mins even after the bar worker noticed our arrival we were ignored. On a positive note the table service was spot on, food was tasty but price could be cheaper. Authenticity of menu is questionable. Should be more variety.
Our table for 4 booked at 7.15pm eventually received our food (which was okay) at 20.45. After we'd waited an hour we asked about it to be told "I know I've just chased it up". No apology and the food was still another 20 minutes. It seemed there was one waitress serving almost 13 tables. Pretty poor. Won't be back unfortunately!
Warm welcome and good service - lovely wine and great food
Had a lovely meal here on Hogmanay after our trip to the theatre. Food was good and service was impeccable and all staff very smiley. Will be back soon. Very happy.
Went for a meal in the evening with my fiancé, best meal either of us have had for a long time. Food was outstanding and all courses were served in perfect time.
Christmas eve and the restaurant was very busy. the food was good and the service quick
Can't believe this was my first visit to Paperino's! We were struggling to find a venue for a family lunch for 7 the Saturday before Christmas, but opentable helped give us a list and we chose Paperino's. So glad we did. My children loved the choice on the kids menu, and the burger and pizza arrived quickly and were delicious. The adults had a variety of pizza's, calzone, salads and we could fault nothing. If I was nitpicking, I'd say the portions were huge and we could have shared. But we took the leftovers home and enjoyed them for supper that night, so it's all good. We'll be back!
This restaurant always delivers on quality of food however I would reserve going for a special occasion. My recent lunch date (2 people) was the better end of nearly £50.00 (including tip) and only one glass of alcohol was consumed.
I used to go here once a week with my son. Over time the service got worse & worse. Everytime I leave I feel disappointed and angry. Every time despite how quiet or busy we wait an eternity to be served drinks even though there are usually several staff members hanging about doing nothing. Food is adequte but expensive compared to other Italians near by. My menu said they offered a presto option but I wasn't told what dishes were in it. Despite the restaurabt being only 1/4 full we had to wait to order and were basically ignored. I wonder if it's because when my son & I eat here they don't think one adult & one child is a big ticket sale? Whatever the case I have given this place its final chance & in future I will be at Toni's like everybody else!! Awful service, food is ok but in no way makes up for the overall disappointing experience. I shared my thoughts with other families who have had the same experience - businesses who behave like this end up losing customers. I gave this place a last chance & they blew it!
I always love going to paperinos and the food is great. However, what has worried me slightly the last couple of times is that the food, especially the starters, arrived very quickly, it's an odd thing to say I suppose and great if you are hungry but it worried me slightly about how fresh the food was actually prepared. The food could have been warmer as well. The changed menu doesn't look as good as it used to and in honestly I am concerned that it is going the route of chain restaurant and forgetting about its roots. I will still go of course and would urge you to try it and make the decision yourself. Also, there appears to be a new batch of waitresses who are not as friendly, whereas before you felt like it was a personal family service, run by a family (if not by blood).
group of 5 on a sunday lunchtime. Apart from numerous people offering drinks whilst waiting for all our party to arrive, service was quick and attentive. Good value food.
Overall the food was good with good size portions. However a number of the party who had wanted to order Calamari for starters were disappointed to find if was off the menu. Very disappointing given this was on a Friday at the start of the weekend. This detracted from the meal for a number of the group. With regard to service I had to ask the waiter to bring the olives and tomatoes twice before receiving them prior to our starters arriving.
lovely food but a little pricey. would have preferred a deal like a set menu for 2 courses, that was the only fault in my opinion
As always good food at good price with good service
Had a lovely lunch before we headed up to orah mor for an event. Will defo be eating there again, food was lovely great choice
