I didn't have the best experience, the waiter took a long time to take our order. The food subsequently took a while to make and the food itself was substandard. I ordered the sides of spinach (steamed) which looked like something i could have made at home, the leek and pea was in a wet creamy sauce which had no flavour or seasoning at all. It looked like there was cabbage in there as the food did not taste of look like it had any leek at all, which was pretty disappointing. The attention to detail was disappointing and considering the dinner was special celebration, it was not a special experience at all. I certainly won't be recommending it to anyone as there is much better restaurants in the same price bracket where you feel like you are getting value for money.

It was a lovely experience walking into the First Dates Restaurant!! We had a drink at the bar... the food was outstanding!! Well worth a visit they made it extra special by sending two little caramel shortbreads on a plate with happy birthday and the waiters singing to my husband x

Service was friendly and attentive. The Saturday set lunch menu was excellent value and all the food our group had from there was delicious. I had the burger, which was substantial but both it and the chips that came with it were a little dissapointing if I'm honest. Booked lunch for 1pm and the place was nice and quiet at that point. Got a lot busier as the afternoon progressed and by 4pm the restaurant and outside tables were almost all full. Recommend you go early if you're looking for a quiet lunch, later is better if you're after more athmosphere. Only real gripe was the price of the wine, £32 for a 500ml carafe and £42 for an unspectacular bottle of Chardonnay left me feeling a bit stung. I suppose the city types who normally frequent the place during the week can afford such prices without batting an eye-lid but it was a bit steep for me and this would be the only real reason I'd think twice before going back.

The food was ok, but the staff were terrible. When I asked for the bill it was bought to my table without a word and literally thrown onto the table. I paid by card. The person came up with the card machine, held out their hand for the card inserted it into the machine and handed me it to put my pin in. They took the machine off me printed the bill and left it on the table all without a single word. Downright rude. I Eat regularly in London - won’t be going back here.

Booked a table for lunch at 3.15, we sat down and no one came with menus, we had to ask... when we ordered the food, we ordered main course but was advised by waitress that we may not be able to order desert because kitchen closes at 3.30.... really weird! Ask to see the manager in which he said he’ll ask kitchen to stay behind for desert... why put a booking time at 3.15 if kitchen closes at 3.30?? Also service was terrible... taken our drinks to wrong table, and after buying an expensive white wine we were brought 2 pints of lager?? Wrong table again..... ordered beef with horseradish and was charged £2.50 for more horseradish?? Really? It’s a sauce? Eventually food was good but overall very disappointing for a tv restaurant

Nice place, good atmosphere but sirloin was rather disappointing for the money. Staff were friendly but felt food very simple and overpriced, even considering it’s TV fame.

Understanding this is a casual dining experience, however the price was not and there were several areas that did not match expectation. The Negroni was as poor as I have ever tasted, you should not offer cocktails if you cannot make them. The WC wax terrible, not attended too and like a downgrade city bar rather than a restaurant that portrays itself as a destination for celebrations. The starters were good, but the main course cams mins after we finished with no break. ( was not as if they needed the table back) the mains were a formula based delivery without the feeling of care, the steak not properly seasoned, and the suet pudding the opposite. The best thing was the cabbage ( so made by someone who should have more control of the pass). So if this were a first date, with the night I spent in the smallest room being ill it would not have been a good one. Manger was nice, and our server extremely good. The interior looked 10 years old and tired. 100GBP a head, I would expect more. Never mind thankfully London has more to offer.

We both ordered the fillet steak. It was delicious! For sides we had chips and creamy mash. Not a lump to be seen in the mash - absolutely perfect! I had a glass of the house red wine - very tasty. Also had a couple of cocktails - all very tasty. Highly recommend. We went on a Saturday night. It was very busy so booking in advance is essential. Waiting staff were attentive and very friendly and chatty.

Excellent food fantastic service (especially from Nancy) I would happily recommend people give this restaurant a try. Setting in the St Paul’s area is lovely and there are some lovely buildings to at.
Dining can feel a little “cosy” as there are far more tables than depicted on First Dates.
Overall I can’t fault Paternoster Chop House.
Give it a visit

The food was of an extremely high quality in presentation and taste. We had a mixture of set menu, sharing special and tbone steak on our table and they were all exceptional.
We experienced the "red roast" wine offer and found it to be a beautiful smooth wine.
Service from Adrian was brilliant - he was charming, professional and attentive.

I had a lovely meal here with my wife for date night. In my opinion you can't got to a chip House and not have steak. The steak was magnificent, cooked just how I asked for it and the triple cooked chips were delicious. Wine list could be a bit more expansive for my tastes.

Lively Friday night, bar over-busy which didn’t help the 30+ minute wait for our table reservation to be ready (receptionist apologetic but we’d to chase up after 20mins so rather poor no comp. drink or whatever). Informal dining so all just a little haphazard but food was good & server was extremely friendly & keen to please.

I would recommend on the basis of previous visits and not this one, Staff extremely accommodating , my client was running late also staff helped me get a larger table as an unexpected addition to the party was arriving. Table service excellent throughout bearing in mind how busy it was.

Unfortunately the Rump Steak I had was very tough and I left more that half of it. My clients plaice went down well however. Didn't complain although table staff did query. I didn't have time to resolve and wanted t avoid embarrassment in front of client.

Will come back because it is convenient for some of my London meetings.

Food and service were excellent as were the cocktails. We started with a game pie, crab and pear and beetroot salad all of which were excellent. All 3 of us opted for the fillet steak which was the best steak that I have tasted. Desert was burnt Cambridge custard. Again delivered on flavour and portion size. We will be back..

I cannot recommend this restarant enough. The food was incredible and really well presented. Lovely ambience and even when it was quiet, the restaurant had great energy. The two courses for £20 was a really good deal from a nice selection of dishes. I would go back for the chocolate fondant alone, I really regret sharing it with my friend.

Obviously known as the restaurant where ‘First Dates’ is filmed, we thought it would be fun to enjoy a meal here after a wonderful few hours in St Paul’s cathedral. Actually had a wonderful meal, very attentive service and good value for it’s prime location. Couldn’t fault it, therefore I’d recommend giving it a try.
